I am very interested in hearing any experiences with ghosts or haunted houses...do any of you actively seek ghosts? I believe that we used to live in a haunted house and nearly everyone who's been there has felt it. I didn't feel that there was anything evil except for my daughters bedroom took on this really dark feeling sometimes..I don't really know how to explain it. we heard doors shut and the sounds of footsteps coming up the stairs for years. These experiences seem to follow us, especially my daughters.they both sense things watching them. Two years ago on Samhain my husband and I thought we saw our son standing in our bedroom doorway in the middle of the night..My husband got up to see what he wanted and he was sleeping soundly. There are many other things that happened. It's weird because your mind just doesn't seem to accept it..we saw what we saw but we still doubt..if that makes sense.

Alot of people doubt what they see, because it is not something thats easily explained. There has been things happen to my dad, and as he is a skeptic or doesn't want to believe, he tells himself it didn't happen or there is an explanation for it. If you seen a girl and you knew or thought she was just a normal living girl, you wouldn't doubt seeing her, would you? But, if you walked upto her, and she disappeared, your mind would be saying "well, was she really there" ... and you seem to think, maybe it was just my eyes.

I've had many paranormal experiences in my house, which i've lived in my whole life, and if you look here http://www.mysticwicks.com/showthread.php?t=56721 i've posted some pics, which could be paranormal taken in the house i'm living in.

But, theres been plenty happen, voices, noises, people being touched, seeing things, objects moving etc etc.... I think i'd be here forever going through everything thats happened lol

I grew up in a haunted house. My mom saw the ghost of a little girl, as did my sisters, my grandma, and several of my moms female friends. No men ever saw the ghost. Later on we found out that out landlords granddaughter had commited suicide in the house. My mom at first blamed the sightings on the witch next door. No kidding. Irony at its best.

In my last apartment I had some wierd things happen that i still have not decided on what it was. First odd things disappeared in the house. Hats, jeans, stuff like that. they would turn up later exatly where we left them in the first place.

Then I saw it(i dunno what it is....ghost, goblin, elf...hell i dunno). i was asleep in bed and I heard my daughter crying in her crib next to the bed. I woke up and glanced over and i saw a "creature" holding on to the side of the crib peering into the playpen. It seemed child like and it was dark and I didnt have my glasses on, so i assumed it was Dylan, the 5 year old my girlfriend was babysitting.

I whispered "Dylan" and the thing turn very surprised like and looked at me. It didnt just turn though...it turned almost serpent like, very fast and sharp. Then it walked behind the table and ducked down behind something that was sitting on the table, peering over it at me. It seemed like something a kid would do...hiding in plain sight. So one part of my mind was saying "Wtf is that thing?!?!" the other part was still telling me it was dylan. I reached out to grab it to pull him closer so I could find out why he was awake without talking loudly and further upsetting the baby. My hand went right through it. It was at this point I d reverted to a child myself a bit. I closed my eyes hoping it would go away. I opened my eyes and it was gone. Then a few seconds later I saw it creeping it was back into the dark corner of the room, and faded away.

A few days later my daughter was diggin through grocery bags that were sitting on the floor and my girlfriend heard a voice say "food?!?". It was a deep kind of gravely voice, definelty not my daughters.

Then there was the cup. We had brought McDonalds home and were on thre table in the living room eating and watching tv. My girlfriend reaches back to get her drink that she had been drinking the whole meal and it wasnt on the table. She thought I had taken it, but I had not. I searched the whole house. The whole time I kept thinking, "This damn cup is going to turn up in a wierd place and scare the crap out of me". Later that night I went outside to get my book I was reading out of the glove box. The drink was sitting on the dashboard above the glovebox. I almost screamed. The door was frozen shut, noone had opened it since we got home9it was during an ice storm).

Anyhow, that some of my crazy experiences.

I grew up in a haunted house, and my in-laws live in the ghost cafe that not always so nice spirits visit (we lived with them for 5 years). The past 5 years we lived on my ancestral land. My husband said that there were 2 occupying the aptmt, but I never sensed them (we finally figured out that it was the familial connect- I always felt more comfortable than he did, especially when they were around). We now live in an empty aptmnt. It is so nice not to have things talking all the time. Although it does feel a little weird not to have the others here.

I've never personally felt or experienced anything other than that feeling of somethings overthere making my hair stand on end! My Mother and her family though have had experiences that would take a few pages to fill that I would NEVER want to live to see!

I've had some experiences in my grand mothers house. The home is in the same town I live in now. Its a one story old lady looking house where the back yard is one giant vegetable garden LOL. White siding on the house.. etc.. Anyhow.. I was offered to own it and turned it down... no way in heck will I ever live there!
I will tell you why..

1) My brother when he was an infant was fed through the night and the dirty bottles were in the kitchen sink the next morning and both my parents and my grand mother claimed to not have fed him for months at a time because he never woke them up by crying. He was always fed and content. hmm.. :hmmmmm:

2) I spent the night once when I was 13 and I went to the washroom to find the door locked and the light on under the door crack.. so I went back to the room and my grand mother said to me " You went to the washroom already?" I was like... " No. Someone is in there." My grandmother didnt even find this odd! she says to me... No one is in there.. go to the washroom.. Its almost time for bed. Im about to turn out the lights.. so I went and the door was open and the light was off!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yikes:

3) I was sleeping in the living room on the sofa and heard dishes clangning and water running... I went into the kitchen and the little under the cubbord light was on but no water running and the dish rack was empty.. I went back to lay down and this happened a few more time.. eventually it stopped.
Man did I sleep with the blanket over my head!

Me too.
We used to hear whistling in the middle of the night. My mom used to come in and ask us to stop whistling, but it wasn't any of us. It wasn't the wind because it was a tune. One night we were all scared, so we put our sleeping bags in mom's room. We were talking and all of us heard the front door open and close;we thought it was my stepdad coming home early from work. we heard his footsteps come up the stairsand we all waited, but no one was there. My mom got up and looked around but there hadn't been anyone there. This became more and more commonplace. My sister and I would have bad dreams and see shadows on our bedroom wall.We always felt like something was watching us. As my mom was saying, there wasn't really a sense of evil except in the girl's room. The house is 100 years old this year, and I'm sure that many things have taken place there. I would like to ask the family that lives there now if they've had any experiences living there. If any of us ever get the courage we probably will one day.My mom's house now freaks me out. It's only five years old, but something is there. My parents have had more weird things happen to them there than anywhere else.

I want to actually have a ghostly experience that will let me know for sure that ghosts are real. I don't know if I could handle seeing what relic raven eye saw...It would probably give me a heart attack. The things that Katlyn says are true..the events were scary, but not as scary as most of yours.

It was definetly scary. But even seeing it that close to my daughter did not raise my parental protective instict. I think if it was evil, bad, or meant her harm I would have known immediatly. I think it was some curious thing(for lack of a better word). I ended up leaving food out for it occasionally. Items of clothing and assorted stones continued to dissappear and reappear until I moved from the apartment a few months ago. Two things never did turn up. A loose opal, and a gravestone that my girlfriend has carried with her and never lost for nearly a decade.

I don't live in a haunted house, but I was taken by some friends to an abandoned mental hospital from the mid 50's outside of Point Pleasant WV. In that place I not only saw ghosts, but the replaying of how the patients were treated in that place. It was a very disturbing experience. If anyone is around that area, check it out, but be very careful and sure in your power to protect yourself. They are not very nice.

When you said something about clothing going missing then showing back up in the exact place, I thought about how that's always happening to me, and I've always believed it to be the faeries just being there trickster little selves. What you saw by the crib sounds alot like a brownie (a house faerie) You might want to try leaving a bowl of cream out at night and see what happens. Brownies tend to help out around the house by doing small cleaning duties, but like all of the fae they have a sense of humor. Tell me if you try it and how it works out for you.

*shudders* That is one place i don't think i could visit. I love spirits, but to me an old abandoned mental hospital just holds bad memories, and if there are actually spirits there i think they'd be very disturbed spirits :( not nice at all!

i used to live in a haunted house. Well grew up in it actually. there were two there one was a man. the other was a small boy named William. or thats what he liked to be called. i used to play with william all the time growing up he was one of my best friends. on halloween at midnight everyyear he would run up and down the stairs in our house. he used to jump on my bed all the time (not fun when you have a waterbed). some of the other stuff that he would do

1. swing on the swings of our play set

2. While we were eating dinner one night we heard my Step-moms chair rocking back on forth. the three of us older kids went to go look and it was rocking by itself

3. the man when he would walk down the stairs you could see them go down with each step.

4. we had to tie our basement door shut because he would open it and shut it costantly
same with my closet doors but i had to keep them open at all time or he would shake the doors
all night long.

5. At dads i always took my shoes off at the door. more like kicked them at the wall never untied
them at all. when getting ready to go to work one morning culd not find my shoes at all by the
asked my baby sister if she saw me take tem off and she said yeah by the door. went upstairs to
my room my shoes were under my clothes rack untied side my side laces tucked in.

6. used to see orbs all the time

7. the lights used to flicker on and off while we were doing our homework until some told him to
knock it off

8. TV would change channels or volume

the lady that my Dad was seeing for a time. lived in this really cool old old house in Kirkland IL. she had five. on old farmer, a slave in the basement, Mrs. McQueen, another old guy and one out by the pool house. Mrs. McQueen followed Michele to my house and i discribed her to a T on what she was wearing what color her hair was and about her opion on manners. This woman wore her hair in a bun and had a really long graceful neck so she wore a high collar and long sleeves. her skirts were always really long and full. her thing was i had to have Michele come touch my arm to see how cold that i got and she could smell like "old Lady" perfume. the cool thing was when michele went to a church sale and the older churcj ladies where talking to Michele about her house they started talking about Mrs. McQueen the old ladies said that she looked just how i had described her and that her way about manners was as strict as they were when i had told Michele. We all that that it was kinda cool. My sister and brother have not doubted me since when i say that i can "see" them its more like they let me see them.

then last night my room-mates who are dating were fighting and my BF and i were in the kitchen. first dishe when flying the a flashlight when flying. the one thats in my house now (don't live with Dad) gets pissed at them when they fight and starts throwing stuff. scares the hell out of them and just annoys the hell outta me.

When I was a girl I saw spirits all the time. Of course everyone in my family just told me I was crazy, but I know what I saw. :ghostie: While I stopped seeing them physically around the age of 8 or 9, I've always picked up on there presence. For instance I was visiting the white house of the confederacy when I was still in school and I was very carful not to disturb anything because I felt the overwhelming presence of the mother of the house, same way with an old farm house I visited, no one had lived there since the 1860's and I was fine through the whole house until I started up the stairs to the room of a farm hand who lived with the family. I got half way up the stairs before I was swallowed in a horrible sense of evil, and I had a picture of this man in my head, which actually ended up being the face of the farm hand who lived in that room. :imout: I'm preety sure my old house is haunted by my great- grandfather who died of a heart attack there in the 70's. I'm always feeling his presence and always feeling like he's watching me when I'm there.

If anyone is interested in that place that I mentioned, it's called Lakin State Hospital. Shoot me a PM if you want to know more. I found this site that someone put together that is pretty dead on. It is truly a freaky place, but I like those kinds of things.

The house that I currently live in is definately haunted. When I and my husband first bought it we had a few wierd experiences and things have progressed from there, but I now feel completely comfortable with the place, except for one area and I never really have to go there. Here is what happened...The day after we moved in my husband was standing in front of the bathroom mirror when he suddenly jumped, (our sink and mirror are outside of the bathroom area like they are in some Motels) and asked me if I had felt anything. I hadn't. He said that he had felt a strong gust of air in his ear right as he was looking in the mirror and he swore that it felt as if someone standing near him had blown in his ear. I was clear across the room from him.
Then there is an old shed with a dirt floor in our backyard that you can see from our bedroom window. The first time I looked inside it I got the chills and saw a mental image of a body wrapped in a sleeping bag buried inside the shed. Needless to say I have not gone back inside. My husband says that I'm just paranoid, and that he is going to knock it down someday, but he hasn't ever been back inside it either and everyone I know says that they feel something dark about it.
After we were living in the house for a few months I was in our office on the computer playing a game when out of the corner of my eye I saw a man in a blue shirt pass in front of the office door and walk into our bedroom. I, being completely focused on the game, just ignored it, thinking it was my husband. Then the same person came back out of the bedroom and stood in the doorway looking me. Still thinking that it was my husband (we are the only two people who live here), with my eyes still on the computer, I asked him what he was doing. My husband called out from the living room on the other side of the house "What?" At that I turned around really fast and the man was gone. Thinking that he was just playing a trick on me, I returned to my game and as I did the man returned to the doorway. I yelled "Quit messing with me!" And my husband yelled back "What? What do you mean?" in that really exasperated tone that he uses sometimes, and I could tell then that his voice really was coming from the other room not from the person just a few feet away from me. I jumped up, and the man was instantly gone from the doorway and I ran out of the office as fast as I could! Thinking back on it later, I realized that from where he was standing he was about 4-6 inches taller than my husband.
Later when we were talking about it my husband told me of a dream that he had had about the house. In his dream he had gotten up in the middle of the night to get a drink from the kitchen and just as he had reached the entrance to our bedroom he heard a giggle. He paused looking towards where he had heard the sound and as he did he felt a wave of fear/evil wash over him and he saw a little girl peeking at him from around the corner of the kitchen doorway with a really evil look on her face. He said he woke up immediately in a cold sweat.
After that everything calmed down for awhile and we felt very comfortable in our new home until our annual Halloween party. My brother, who is really religious, was standing in the dining room helping me put up decorations when all of a sudden he got a really weird look on his face. I asked him what was wrong and he told me, with tears in his eyes, that when he had glanced up at the dining room window there had been a tall man with brown hair in a blue shirt staring in at us. A second later he dissappeared.
Sometime later, my youngest sister, who has always been able to see ghosts, came to stay for a few days with us. As we were sitting on the couch in the living room watching a movie on the first night, a man walked up behind us. I thought it was my husband at first, watching the movie over our shoulders, but he was so still that I felt that it couldn't possibly be him. My sister looked up just at that moment and almost jumped right into my lap! After that he was gone. She had looked at him directly where as I always just got a glimpse of him out of the corner of my eyes, and decribed him almost exactly as my brother had.
During her stay some other strange things happened, things like pennies or our cats toys would spin on the floor for a long time without anyone being around, knocking was heard on the walls and the feeling of the presence of someone else in the house was constant. After she left though all of the actual physical manifestations stopped, and the presence again became comfortable.
Also we once had a work associate of my husbands spend the night with us after he and my husband had stayed up talking and drinking. He was a kinda weird guy and as it was the first time that I had met him and my husband also hadn't known him very long, I wasn't very comfortable with him staying the night at our home. So being the wierdo that I am I took a knife to bed with me that night just in case. Nothing happened of course, except that sometime in the middle of the night the guy left really quickly. Later on when we met him again, and asked him why he had left, he said that all night he had heard knocking and scratching sounds all around the living room where he had been trying to sleep and had gotten really scared and left. (I personally think that our ghost felt my dislike of him and chased him away for me).
The last time I saw our ghost was only a last week. I was in the bedroom laying on the bed on my back reading a book on the supernatural with it propped up above me, when a blurry something popped up at me from underneath my book. It looked just like the head of a person when moving really fast. I jumped really high but didn't see it anymore.
I am now pretty comfortable here, even knowing that there is a ghost and but it seems that when I am not paying attention that's when our ghost likes to make his presence known.

Well, this is actually quite funny. I've been practicing for quite some time now and make it a habit to "cleanse" the house that i live in at least once a year. When i moved in with my fiance, there was so much negetivity that it blew away...(debree from his last relationship). When i cleanse a house i make sure to put up a barrier and state that none are welcome to enter unless they have permission. HAHA a heads up, unless you state from you only, your children can allow some in too...

I usually don't kick things out unless they are of a dark nature, and then its usually for the safety of my really sensitive children. But within the last 3 years we've been here, we've acquired 2 more and i've become aware of 1 thats always been here.

Hehe, my stepson to be is new to my path, but one night it was really funny. He got up to go to the bathroom and then noticed a lady sitting on the toilet. He said he froze...turned around...then went back to bed without even trying for the rest of the night. I had to explain to him that it was alright when he finally told me, but it took him a while to relax in that bathroom after that. What was commical is the lady that is in our upstairs bathroom is harmless, she's just there watching over the upstairs... i'm still not sure who she is but i know its ok cause my guides allow her to be here. My friends have even seen her out of the bathroom window upstairs if we're being to loud outside... its quite humerous.

The next is a little boy. My youngest son is so strong with his astral presence, he can be passed out upstairs after bed and multiple people can here him chattering or laughing...swearing that they heared him upstairs. He plays that much on the other realm... unfortuanately he also brought home a little friend into our house. Its a little boy, and after my 2 year old son is finally tired and wants to actually sleep, this little boy stands at the bottom of my stairs and stares at me through the cast iron polls. I see him there and multiple of my friends mind you at lease 3 times a week. There was one night i actually had to tell this little boy when i was up late that i was not there to entertain him and he had to go find something else to do. With that, i even had to tell him not to wake up my son in the process! Its craziness with him alone. It drove me nuts that night especially cause he stood at the bottom of the stairs for almost 3 hours waiting for me to say something, and i don't know about you, but i can't handle people staring at me in real life for that long.

Then there is my daughter. She loves cats... but somehow, she always attracks the ones that have passed away. At the place we lived in before here, she used to play with the cat that died, that used to live with the family in our apmt before us. Now in this house, I have this shabby black cat that always comes to say hi and wrap itself around my legs at night if my daughters passed out and it wants more attention. I'm constantly having to watch myself and make sure i'm not seeing a real cat or the ghost one...mind you, we don't even have pets... i shouldn't have to watch for a cat that isn't there so i don't trip.

Then there is my forth story, this isn't a ghost, but its a guide with a REALLY strong presence. When my youngest was only a few months old, I got up with him in the middle of the night because he was hungry. Dispite everything we normally did for his routine, he would not go back to sleep. Naturally i took him downstairs to put him in his swing to rock him, hoping he would pass out and not wake up the rest of the house. His swing was a battery operated one, and had a fairly stiff switch that you had to push to the right or the left for low or high. I had just put him in and was still clicking the lock on the little belt to keep him safe when the swing turned on all by itself. Mind you... my hands were still in the seat buckling him in when it did this. I slowly turned my head to my right and was looking into a male face with pale skin; bright green eyes; and flaming red hair. He smiled at me, said 'Hi there, I'm one of your sons new guides...'. At that point I just closed my eyes, shook my head,...and said ' no, i'm not talking to you right now, i don't care how awake i am... i'm going back to sleep.' I opened my eyes and he was then sitting on the floor leaning against our entertainment center chuckling at me. I put a blanket on my son, laid down on the couch and closed my eyes. But to have someone become that apparent to you in a matter of seconds at that time in the morning, when your pretty much awake already, definately makes it hard for you to pass back out in a timely manner when you feel them looking at you. I covered my head tried to just ground so that i could just pass out before the sun came through our windows at 4:30.

I've never been haunted... at least, I wouldnt like to call it that.

but i've had a few ghostly experiences before. the most interesting was last winter.

I was feeling emotional because of an incident with a friend, which i think just left my eyes a little more open than usual. I saw a girl floating on by, dressed in black cotton. When she noticed that I could see her, she was upset and flew right through me! As she passed, all her emotions just hit me like a brick - she felt so lost and sorrowful.

I think we kinda took to eachother after that though, because she stuck around for a few weeks. Once she let me know she was around by flinging a fork off the center of the table, but mostly I knew she was around because of the light she'd keep on. One of our kitchen lights burnt out, and she turned it back on. as long as the light worked, i knew she was around.

She affected me a lot. After passing through me, I couldn't help but feel like she did. I wore black for weeks... actually, i just barely got out of that dark clothes habbit a month ago. I think she just needed a little something from me and i needed a little something from her.

1) My brother when he was an infant was fed through the night and the dirty bottles were in the kitchen sink the next morning and both my parents and my grand mother claimed to not have fed him for months at a time because he never woke them up by crying. He was always fed and content. hmm.. :hmmmmm:

I wouldn't have turned it out - the ghost(s) seem friendly and with no intention of harming :bigredgri

I had a ghost when I was about 6 or so. There was two separate twin beds in my bedroom. I shared the same room with my mother. She slept in one bed and I slept in the other. One day I was sleeping like usual and then suddenly my bed started shaking! I started freaking out wondering what was going on...Then I actually heard a voice. I thought it might be coming from the ceiling but I didn't see anything. I don't remember what it said but I remember it was trying to scare me. The next thing I knew I jumped up out of bed and I ran to my mom saying "Mommy, mommy a ghost shook my bed!!!" I told my dad about it that night. He thought I was just dreaming. My parents still don't believe me...ughhh
