I know what i believe, but not what those beliefs make me in terms of a path "label". I have been very eclectic through the years and taken parts and pieces of paths with me along the way. I guess if someone were to ask me what religion I practice, I would like to give them more than "Pagan". There is a label for what I think out there, what is it?

I personally am of the belief that there is one big Universal Energy that all beings come from and return to and reincarnate from based upon each individual's need to do so. All beings, animals, species, rocks, extraterrestrials (sp), fae folk, etc come from and return to this lifeforce energy many view as "Heaven". For lack of better word, I can this "God", but not in the Christian sense. This energy is available to me at all times upon my request because all beings have a dual residency, part of me here on Earth, part of me in the Spiritual plane.

Maybe there is a quiz to take somewhere? Any suggestions? Maybe more than just wanting the label, I need to find a direction to send my spiritual energies into. Maybe if I could find a label, I could find a spiritual home?

May I ask why you want a lable? Sounds to me like you are a very special child of the universe. Unique and wonderful in so many ways. Now there is a thought if some asks what you are.........I am a Child of the Universe, unique and special so many ways. Then let them try and find fault with that. HUGS.

Faewyn, on Karma, I think it does come back to you one way or the other. Personally, I do the things that I can live with myself for and am willing to accept the consequences for tenfold. Beyond that, I dunno. As far as fate and destiny go, definately...nothing happens without a reason.

Dragon, I guess more than needing a label to describe myself to other people, I need a definition for what I already know to be true in my heart that equates those beliefs into some sort of religion. I guess I lack direction in my path and it would be good for me at this time to explore religions that are aligned with my beliefs. Finding a label would help me narrow my search for a religious system that supports my views. Does that make sense?

Lables are so hard. I believe everything has spirit, be it biologically living or not, thats is Animist. I dont believe in a god or higher power, thats atheist. I journey to other realms and times and so on, thats is Shamanism.

So I guess I am an Atheistic Animist Shaman.

I so hate lables!

I can understand the wanting to be labeled. I dealt with that for a while. It’s part of wanting to belong I think. At least it was for me.
I'm not exactly sure what I did to get over it. Which I know is helpful. :raining: I think somewhere along the way it hit me that I just sort of was me and that’s what I believed and belonged by not belonging if that makes any sense. 8O Eventually it just sorted itself out.
Oh, and I stopped talking to people about religion if I didn’t have to. I found a majority of the problem was other people's not mine. So I just didn't talk about it. :D

Yep it is hard to label a personal path. You can best find a label based on your fundamental beliefs and practices. I can see so far that the labels Witch, Pagan, Eclectic Witch, and RHP Witch are the best for you. I have had a hard time trying to figure out a label for myself just incase anyone asks me what I am. IMO, a path is personal and does not necessarily need a label. But say like you need to answer to something important (legal case where you're suing someone for religious discrimination), it is important to have a label. I myself accept many labels: Dark Pagan, Diabolator, Left Hand Path, and Theistic Satanist.

im sort of similar situation. a lot of paths and belief systems i have studied pieces of them have found their way into my walk. just like a giant puzzle each belief system has a piece. some say they have all the answers . i feel that they all have a peice of it. we are far from regaining knowledge we once had.

Label yourself. Or don't. None of us here has the right or the knowledge to do it for you. Though I understand the need for a name and a community, only you can give that.

beliefnet.com quizzes say that I am a New Age Believer:

An umbrella term for a wide range of personal and individual beliefs and practices influenced primarily by Eastern religions, paganism, and spiritism.

• Belief in Deity
God is the impersonal life force, consciousness, ultimate truth and reality, the incorporeal, formless cosmic order personified within all people and matter. God is all and all are God.

• Incarnations
Most believe there are no particular incarnations to worship, as all in the universe are embodiments of God.

• Origin of Universe and Life
The universe, life, and matter were not created by God but "are" God. The universe and life emerged out of the creative power of the eternal universal life force.

• After Death
Some believe in continual rebirth--no death--as life is spirit. Some believe that our souls rest for a time before deciding on a new body (or bodies). Heaven and hell are states of consciousness, self-imposed, due to ignorance of God as all.

• Why Evil?
No original sin, no Satan, and no evil. Most believe people make "mistakes" when they are ignorant of the power of goodness, which is God, within themselves and others. Some believe evil is perpetuated through accumulation of past-life wrongs and spiritual ignorance.

• Salvation
Salvation lies in the realization of oneness with the impersonal life force. Awareness can be heightened through methods that induce altered states of consciousness, e.g., hypnosis, meditation, music, drugs. Spiritual "tools" include crystals, tarot cards, amulets, channeling, fortunetellers and psychics. Some believe the salvation of humanity will occur when a critical mass is reached, when people converge in experiencing their oneness with God and with each other. This will bring a New World Order or new Planetary Order, resulting in oneness of civilization and one-world government, peace, and harmony.

• Undeserved Suffering
Suffering is the result of greed, hatred, and spiritual ignorance in a person's, or humanity's, past lifetimes, which returns as suffering (karma). Suffering is sometimes viewed as occurring for a specific purpose, to further spiritual growth and learn a life lesson. Suffering is also seen as illusory, in that it results from attachment to bodily pleasure and pain, and only the universal life force within, God, truly exists.

• Contemporary Issues
Abortion is not condemned, as there is no official doctrine. Generally, adherents are supportive of a woman's right to choose abortion.

sounds pretty close, really that was no answer either.

just like everyone else said . the only thing that describes my belief system is pagan. and i proudly were it. it is a catch all phrase. untill i have a better one. that does just fine. and can describe the difference. just be prepared to describe the different path workings your own and so forth or not. you owe no one but the gods an explanations.

i've always been interested in ancient egypt, and i try to follow their religious beliefs as best i can, but i do change them if there's something that doesn't fit. i call myself eclectic kemetic pagan. bit of a mouthful, but there you go. i don't really follow a set path, anyway, ad i don't see why you should try and force your beliefs to fit one either. a child of the universe is a great one, if you want one at all.
