Okay I think I'm about to pop here! (technical problem with photo gallery)

I'm posting this here in the hope that someone can quickly tell me what the heck I'm doing wrong trying to get a picture into the gallery!

I've checked the FAQs and found a nice little post giving nice clear instructions on how to first create a gallery so I can then post a pic in there, looks something like this:

To post your photos in your gallery you must first create a new gallery.

1. When in the photo album site, click the "Albums" button (3rd from the left).
2. Select this category: *my gallery*.
3. Hit the button "new" underneath the selection list.
4. Edit the text "new album" in the text box below the button, to enter a meaningful name (The album will already be noted with your username, so you don't have to use your name, you can use topic descriptions, like "my yard" or "holidays").
5. Hit the "Apply modifications" button.
6. Confirm the modifications in the warning dialog.
7. Wait for the album manager to reload, then hit the "continue" button.Only one slight problem: STEP 1!!!

Why oh why is there no "Albums" button on my screen? :whatgives

The buttons I see are:
Album list Login
Last uploads Last comments Most viewed Top rated My Favorites Search

If I click Album list it just comes up with the same page again.

The key there seems to be the "Login" one... and yet I would think that since I'm very obviously logged into the board that I would be logged into the gallery as well... is this so? In any case, if I click the Login button it sends me straight back to the front page of the board :ahhhhhhh:

What gives??? I usually think of myself as being at least reasonably good with this kind of stuff, and yet I have absolutely no idea what's going on!

Will someone with a brain please help me? (pleading)

Shoot, coupled with my incompetence at working out what's probably a simple problem, I left my data cable for the camera at home :rolleyes: I'm going to go home and get it in the hope that someone can tell me in the mean time what I'm doing wrong.

I think the problem is that you're in User Mode. At the top of the page should be a link for Admin Mode. Click that and you should see the album buttons over on the left. :)

Edit: Oh yeah, and it looks like you need to login to the album as well.. :ack: If it doesn't look like you're logged into it, try hitting refresh... :whatgives

I don't see anything about Admin Mode... unfortunately this dumb pc doesn't have anything I can use to take a screenshot of what I'm getting so I'll just have to do a cut and paste of all the stuff on the screen, but I was lucky enough to find a picture of what's MEANT to be on my screen and I can see that this Admin Mode button is meant to be one of the blue links up the top-middle of the screen? But the only ones I've got are the eight I listed in the first post: Album list... Search

Ah just saw your edit... That's what I thought, that it must be something with the Login thing. But nothing I do seems to have any effect on it. It doesn't matter how many times I refresh or anything, it still says Login. And if I click it I go back to the front page of the board :bangyourh

Definitely try logging in... I logged out to see what it would look like and it looks just as you described.
When you're logged in, your name appears at the top, in the list of links:
Album list My gallery User mode Upload picture Logout [Sylvan]

Hee hee.. Yep, I've been back a week now... I have to get around to putting together an album of the trip... And decided I wanted "my" name back again... ;) :D

Hrrmm... Maybe if you log out of the board, then log into the album....
I have no clue... Weirdness.
But the login page for the album *does* look likeyou're logging into the board.... :bug:

Ah! Nailed it! :D

You were close, Sylvan! Your idea gave me the crucial hint :)

The problem was that I had the "remember me" box unchecked like I always do when I log in, because it's a public PC... and apparently the "remember me" thing counts for the album login as well! Re-logged in with that box checked, and lo and behold, there are more buttons *sigh of relief*

Now all I need to do is go home and get my data cable *starts giggling madly*
