What is it? Silver Ravenwolf has one in her "Book of Shadows for the Solitary Practitioner" but I am curious if there is a "Wiccan" creation story. Ravenwolf's story says the Goddess created the universe and the God.

Thank you,

I don't think there's any single story that is held as canon.

Personally, I don't know what I believe, creation-wise, and I'm surprised at how OK I am with that.

I am not Wiccan, but I have read that there are Wiccan creation myths, though no specific tale is held as universal. One that I have heard identifies The Goddess as the Lady of Light, and The God as the Dark Lord. The Dark Lord approaches the Lady of Light, who stands in her magic circle. But The Lady is frightened by The Dark Lord's strength and might and fears that he will rape her, and thus refuses him entrance to her circle. The Lord becomes so distraught that he begins to weep, and The Lady finds within her heart pity and love for The Lord. The Lady opens her circle and joins with The Lord, becoming One with him, and from their love all things come into being.

PM me for more if you like.

Im not wiccan...Im a Kemetic Eclectic pagan.....for our creation I believe it was all science....certain chemicals mixing....the gods and goddesses I feel were made the same way. As for how those chemicals and stuff got there I have no clue. Im also a strong believer in evolution.

i dont think that there is one creation myth that all wiccans believe, or even that there is one that is as widely reknown as the christian one is. however i may be wrong here.
there are many creation myths regarding pagan deities, but many wiccans and other pagans agree with the scientific ideas about how the universe came into being.

There's many different creation myths out there, and I really think it's up to the person to find one that suits them, depending on their tradition, or personal path. I've read Ravenwolf's version and I've read several others online. I read this very pretty poetic one once. It was very beautiful, like how the Goddess's singing became the chirping of birds and stuff.

I do belive in the evolution theory and the scientific view of how the world was created. I view the myth part as a metaphor for what happened. I don't know if that makes any sense though...

I'm a collector of Pagan Stories, Myths, Legends, and Fairy Tales. There are literally thousands out there. There isn't one paticular one that everyone believes, it's all up to you and your own personal belief. Here's just a couple that I like.

BEFORE TIME WAS
© By Scott Cunningham (from Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner)

Before time was, there was The One! The One was all & all was The One. And the vast expanse known as the Universe was The One, all-wise, all-pervading, all-powerful, eternally changing.

And Space moved. The One molded energy into twin forms equal but opposite, fashioning the Goddess and God from The One and of The One. The Goddess & God stretched and gave thanks to The One, but darkness surrounded them. They were alone, solitary save for The One. So they formed energy into gases and gases into suns and planets and moons; They sprinkled the Universe with whirling globes and so all was given shape by the hands of the Goddess and God. Light arose and the sky was illuminated by a billion suns. and the Goddess and God, satisfied by their works, rejoiced and loved, and were one.

From their union sprang seeds of life, and of the human race, so that we might achieve incarnation upon the Earth. The Goddess chose the Moon as Her symbol, and the God chose the Sun as His symbol to remind the inhabitants of Earth of their fashioners. All are born, live, die and are reborn beneath The Sun and Moon; all things come to pass there under, and all occurs with the blessings of The One, as has been the way of existence before time was.

The Creation of the Witches

Long, long ago, the world slept in the arms of a dark void. From this place of nothingness, Spirit drew together and created our Lady of infinite love. The Lady danced among the heavens, her feet beating out the rhythm of all creation. Sparks of light catapulted from her hair, giving birth to the stars and planets. As she twirled, these heavenly bodies began to move with her in the divine symphony of the universe. When her dancing quickened, she formed the seas and the mountains of the earth. She chanted words of love and joy, and as these sounds fell to the earth, the trees and flowers were born. From the pure white light of her breath came the colours of the universe, turning all things to vibrant beauty. From the bubbling laughter in her throat came the pristine running water of the streams, the gentle lapping vibrations of the lake, and the roaring screams of the oceans. Her tears of joy became the rains of our survival. And when her dancing slowed, and the Lady sought a companion to share the wonders of the world, Spirit created the God as her soul mate and companion. Because she so loved the earth, Spirit made half spirit, half animal, so that together the Lord and Lady could populate our planet. The Lord's power moves through her, and she showers the earth and all upon it with her blessings. Together, the Lord and Lady gave birth to the birds, animals, fishes, and people of our world. To protect and guide the humans, the Lord an Lady created the angels and power spirits. These energies walk with us always, tough we often cannot see them. To each bird, the Lady gave a magick song, and to each animal, the Lord bestowed the instinct to survive. The Lord is the master of the animal and vegetable kingdoms, and therefore wears the antlers of a stag crowning his great head. This aspect of half man, half animal shows his joy in both the human and animal creations of Spirit, and he revels in this image.

As the humans began to prosper and grow, the Lord and Lady saw the need for healers among their own kind. And so they drew forth energy from the realm of the angels, the realm of the power spirits, and the realm of the humans to create the Witches. The Witches brought with them the wisdom of the Lord and Lady, the ability to heal, and the art of magick. The Lady taught the Witches how to cast a magick circle and talk to Spirit, and the Lord taught the Witches how to communicate with the spirits of Air, Fire, Earth, and Water, and communicate with the animal and plant kingdoms. At first, the humans accepted the Witches, and treated them fairly; but because the Witches were different, other humans began to fear the Wise Ones of the Lord and Lady. Thus the Witches became the Hidden Children, conducting their rites of positive energy in secret lest they risk capture and death at the hands of fearful humans. As the world grew darker with ignorance and hate of human creation, the Lady took the body of the moon to represent the gentle light of her perfect peace, and the Lord took the sun as his symbol of strength in perfect love. And once a month, when the moon is full, the Witches celebrate and remember the blessings our Mother has bestowed upon us. We call forth her energy to help us take care of ourselves, our families, our planet, and our friends. Four times a year, as the sun cycles through the seasons, the Witches celebrate the festivals of fire and honour the Lord and his love for us. At the four quarters of the seasons, the Witches honour the cycle of life and the gifts of the earth. The Lady has many names-Isis, Astarte, Bride, Diana, Aradia, and thousands more-and the Lady walks within and beside each woman of every race. The Lord has many faces, from the strong Cernunnos to the delightful Pan. He guards and guides us and resides in each man of every race. When thunder roars in the heavens and lightning cracks from the ground, the Lord and Lady dance the divine myth of creation so that we may remember them and know that we are never alone. When the sun rises each morning, we bask in the joy of his love for us, and when the moon moves through her phases, we understand the cycle of birth, growth, death, and rebirth, as is the nature of our kind. When it is our time, the Witches enter Summerland. From the Spirit that moves and flows through the Lord and Lady, we continue to learn the mysticism of the universe so that we may return, in the next life, to serve our brothers and sisters. In each lifetime, Spirit guides us through learning experiences, preparing us along the way for our individual missions. Sometimes we are born among our own kind, and in other instances we must seek out our spiritual family. Many of us do not remember our chosen path until we reach adulthood but others, from the time they form their own thoughts, know instinctively of their heritage. We are Witches, the representatives of wisdom's growth on our planet. We are the Hidden Children, back from the dead. We are the People, the power, the change-and we have incarnated in every race and every culture. We are the angels of the earth.
