seeing spirits

That other thread about spirits taking form made me decide to ask a question I've been wondering for a while.
It's not actually connected to that thread (unless I misunderstood the poster's question).

How common is it to physically see/communicate with spirits - be it ghosts, faerie, et cetera?
A lot of the things I've read and seen are quite the confusing mix of 'seeing' and 'feeling that you're seeing' the spirits.
I've had encounters with spirits before, in my mind's eye, and a couple of things I have seen I believed to be spirits (lights in trees, a flash of spirits dancing around a tree, fireflies completely out of season, that sort of thing).

What are your thoughts on this? Is it all mind's-eye viewing/communicating, or is it possible to encounter them in a very obvious way? You see all of the 'faked' pictures a lot, of the kids back in the old days playing with faeries, or the lights that actually look more like dust on the lense.
I know people see will-o'-the-whisp a lot, but what about the old stories of people finding the dancing faeries and joining in to be trapped for an hundred years?
Or the numerous entities that roam around the UK and europe, harrassing or helping passers-by. And of course, the faerie singing and such.

How much of it do you want to hear, how much do you really hear?

I have seen them just as physical as anyhting. I have no idea if it is common or not. I feel them a lot too.

I wouldnt think so!!!! I know a few people personally who have seen very physical spirits.

Some do I guess and some dont!!

I don't physically see them but I used to be able to sense them. I have lost that ability but am working on building my powers to a point where I think I can sense them again. I used to frequently sense my guardian angel. During a meditation recently I finally was able to sense the astral world around me a little bit only to find that my guardian angel has a wall erected around me right now. Currently working on trying to figure out why I have the wall right now.

I have only ever felt them, but they often appear as physical forms when they communicate with me in my dreams (presumabley because I'm most receptive when dreaming...)

Yesterday morning I nearly had a heart attack when I went outside to put my husbands lunchbox out. There was a "dog" in my yard, it was just a bit transparent. Looked just like my dog in the back yard, scared the fool out of me!

I'm not sure what happened on this land I live on now in the past, but I'm thinking it may not have been pretty. When we moved in here there was a baby that would not let me wash my hair no matter how badly I wanted to. Everytime I would put my head under the water it would start crying, screaming is more like it. Both my kids are sound asleep and I'm running around with soap in my eyes looking for the baby. Finally told the baby to go to sleep and haven't heard from him/her in years. I think it is a boy. My husband has though, he thinks it's exaustion (sp?). There is also a full sized adult figure that I get glimps of every one and a while walking around in the house.

I have also felt gently nudges here and there when I am out walking leading me away from certain areas, or towards others.

I think it is very hard to explain clearly how one sees spirits etc, because I believe they excist on a different "wave" of energy, and thus the way we see them cannot be directly compared to the way we see our everyday world. It is very hard for us to explain something that does not fall within our defined dimensions. I believe we see them, but I believe we see them in a dimension not yet defined by science.

Does anyone know of any spells or other handy means of enhancing clairvoyance?

It just happens with me too. I don't go looking for anything or anyone, they are just there. Then they are gone.

I'm still a bit unnerved by the dog yesterday. It was so fast and so brief, I thought it was going to come right up the stairs, then it was gone. I had to go and check my dog just to make sure. What a way to start the day!

I used to live with c ghost,but my weird encounters are when i whas using the Weiji(sp?)board.I happened to contact a spirit.WhenI asked it a question(mom wasn't home,but I was very curious and felt very strange)instea of getting a yes or no awnser,I got a"Let me show you"awnser.I suddenly went tone deaf and saw the whole incident.it was scary.the girl was pushed off a building by her brother.It greeted me weirdly,too.It said"so this is what life is like this time around.It seemed like I was watching my own self falling.I think it might have been me in a past life.I know it sounds a little farfetched,but I swear,evry word is true!

I wish I knew.. it seems that all of my immediate family can see them.. (sometimes just out of the corners of their eyes.. sometimes full on), they can hear them sometimes.. (They normally think that they are talking to me.. but, I'm not even in the house when it happens.. then I get blamed for laughing at something, or not doing something I supposedly said I'd do.. ).. I'm not sure why it's so common in my family, and most of the time they just think they are going nuts.. I know what it is.. and am very good at dealing with them.. , and they seem to like me so.. it's all good.. I know for a fact that my nephew used to see them.. but now he's starting to grow out of it.. (thanks to the nice closed minded family) It does seem rather odd to have it happen so often, but really, my friends family is the same way... You aren't going nuts.. and it isn't anything that everyone couldn't do.. just some of us keep the ability and others kind of lose it..

my mom could always see spirits, and feel them too. i can't see them, only feel them. the first time i was told by her that what i was actually feeling was a spirit, i was 11 and it was in the corner on the living room. i asked her, "mom, what is that feeling in the corner?" and she told me it was a spirit. ever since then i knew exactly what i was feeling.

my mom told me i won't be able to see them like she does until i've tripped on acid enough. hehe.

since my family have all been open minded to that sort of thing, i've always felt them.

i can see them if they let me. but if i can't then i know that they are there my ex girlfriends brother. who was a dissapearing twin used to come see me all time. she even did. but he would find me while i was dreaming and talk to me about things that had happened to us when we would fight. i used to play with one growing up then i moved away. but all of my family has at one time or another seen or fet them

I have seen them out of the corner of my eye, and right in front of my face. Every time they seem very blurry, like I'm looking at them through smoky glass, even when it's close up. I think seeing them is partly them and partly you. If they want you to see them bad enough, no matter what you think about it, you will see them. If they don't, you won't. But some people are more open to them than others. Mostly, I think, children, teenagers, and those with really open minds. I think belief plays a large part of that as well as fear. Sometimes when we fear a thing enough we will refuse to see or believe it when we see it.
