View Full Version : A very sad day

Today, I lost my cat, Bear.
The apartments that I live in want a $700 deposit for Bear - of which, I cannot afford. So, Today, I had to leave her with my ex-wife. I know that she will be well taken care of and I will get her back one day but, I am sad in the heart because she is not here with me.
Bear is a great kitty. When I was sick a few months ago, she was always there; in bed with me, at my feet in the kitchen. Everywhere I went, she was there.
When I'm okay, she does her own thing, pretty much. She runs around, chases tail and shadows, plays with a toy or, just naps.
Often she would sit in my lap (her head on the couch and tail at my chin), and become the "Upside-down Kitty Cakes". Other times, she would sit in my lap and jam her head under my arm and, when asked, "Where's the Bear?". she would utter a soft mew in reply.
I am very sad today,
Thank you all for listening,
Thoma

Oh Rant, I am sorry!!! I know that's rough. When I first moved to this house Ozzy had to stay with my mom for a bit. Luckily he is home now, but we missed him a lot. Every time I pet one of our babies i will think of you and give them an extra little scratch behind the ears from you!!
Hope you get Bear back soon. Maybe the Goddess knew your ex needed a little love just now and this came in the form of Bear!!!

oooooh rant!!
*HUGS*
I'm sure everything'll be ok, and maybe it's like Semele said! Your ex was sick lately, right? maybe the goddess/god/(whomever?) realized that she needed the extra little care that a cat can give.

Merry Meet rantnraven,
Sorry to here that you must part from your kitty for a while, at least you know that Bear is safe and sound (that's a great name).
The one constant thing in my life has always been my cats, and have always found them a great comfort to me.
Blessed Be

Sorry about your Kitty. My cat (also named Bear!!)
lives with my bf because my parents hate cats...but mostly Bear in general, its the whole "black cat - bad luck" thing in a way. Hope you get to have your Kitty back soon.

I'm so sorry. :( It must be a comfort to know she's with someone who'll care for her, but it's always hard losing one you love.
Many hugs and energy to you in this sad time. :(

So sorry Rant. You know, I've always had my cats, even at apartments where there were supposed to be no pets. ;)

I'm so sorry hon. I pray that in time, the two of you will either be reunited, or at the very least, that your heart will heal. I'm so sorry!

And hope you find a way to get back together with your kitty sometime in the future.
I've experienced a loss last year, but it was a sad misunderstanding between my sweet Cat Fee-Fee, and an unknown car. I found the little dear off the side of the road near my home. She was so insistant on venturing outside whenever she could slip out the door unnoticed, which happened pretty frequently with children in and out of house during the day.
The background is, that I had found Fee-Fee several years ago during a road trip on the side of a road at a rest/stop with a motel. She had obviously been abandoned and had been living off of scraps from nearby dumpsters and such. She was pregnant, and battered as if she had been in numerous cat-fights defending herself. Well, she absolutely begged for help and I gently brought her to my car and she found a comfy spot on the floor of the backseat as I drove home. We had her checked out at the vet the very next day, and she informed us the cat had been through alot. One of her eyes was discolored and blinded, probably from a bb-shot that had just missed putting her eye out. She also had two bb's lodged under her skin in a couple of places that had long healed over, but were still in place. We took extra special care of her, and within a month or so she gave birth to a whopping nine little kitties. They were all beautiful. One was tiny and sickly. We took it to the vet and was told it probably had a liver problem, its tongue was discolored and the vet thought to give a chance and just try to make sure it gets a fair share of the milk from ma-cat. By and by the little dear died and we buried him at an old tree stump in the yard. All of the other kitties were healthy and intelligent and varied in color and hairlength, and it was a real joy to watch them all mature, as we found good homes for all but three of them... those we wanted to stay with us.
Well, then here, just a couple of years later, this brave ma-cat Fee-Fee met her end, and I was sadly burying her nearby the old stump as well. I felt something special was in order and at her burial spot, I went outside under the cresent moon, placed a lit candle on the spot and lit four incense in a circle around it. As I sat on the grass next to the stump I heard a slight rustle in the bushes a few feet away.... Out of the shadows slowly walked one of her kittens ("Stripes") now fully grown (he must have sneaked out the door earlier that day). He meowed pensively and came and sat across from me on the other side of the incense and candle. We both quietly sat for a good fifteen minutes looking at the spot and contemplating her difficult but productive life. It was a special moment for me. Soon I picked up "Stripes" and walked towards the house, quietly amazed at the capacity for animals to 'feel' things we normally ascribe to humans alone.
These little spirits come and go in our lives alot faster than our human loved-ones, but theres no denying that they have a function, a destiny, and a purpose. I hope you have an opportunity to visit with your little friend.

I am so sorry to hear that. My cats are so in tune with me too, and they really sense when I need that extra cuddle (or head butt as it may be).
At least you know that Bear will be in good care and hopefully the Goddess will show you a way to be back with her.
(((HUGS)))
