View Full Version : Finding a Job is ridiculously UN-FUN!

I get nervous very easily, and by nature I'm unhealthily lazy, and I am a master procrastinator. These three factors combined equal unemployment! I'm nervous of job interviews, and of being turned down, and being nervous about not getting a job is a self-fulfilling prophecy, because you're so nervous you blow the interview. This is if I even get around to handing out resumes by overcoming my laziness for a few minutes.
On top of all of this I haven’t had a job interview in about 2 years and I just don't know how I should dress, or what I should say to sell myself. Blah... it sucks arse.
Anyone have any tips?

I can see how it could be difficult for you  It seems you may have some things to conquer in order for it to get easier :hehehehe:

Agreed. And the thing that makes it most difficult is that I'm leaving for University in 2 months, and no one wants to hire and train me just to have me quit. So of course I'm trying to avoid telling that to my potential employers, but I hate lieing... I know they'll lose money by training me, and then having me quit. *le sigh*

This is going to sound awful, but the key to getting it done is just to go out and do it! Don't make excuses, minimize distractions, and dedicate yourself for six to eight hours a day looking for a job. Keep a regular sleeping schedule, as though you were working. You may be unemployed, but you have a job: finding a job. If you treat it like work and do it as though you have a boss standing over your shoulder, then you should land a job in no time.
Good luck! I'm off to submit some resumes myself. We're in quite the same boat... ;) I also have a lazy streak that runs a mile wide if I let it.

That's what I'm off to do today. Bleh. I just hope I can find something I don't utterly despise. I wish you luck! :hugz:

I guess I'm just not taking it seriously because it will only be for 2 months. I need to see it as employment, no matter how long it is for. thanks for the motivation!
