I have no home computer and therefore I rely on school computers to access this site. A very Christian friend of mine just happened to look at my computer screen and you guessed it...bingo...he made a very interesting discovery about me! Well, I had to go through the whole nine yards and explain the usual.."No, I am not a satanist and I don't sacrifice animals and blah, blah." We left off on very indifferent terms...sigh...hope we are still friends 'cause I really liked the guy. But anyway, sadly, this incident just re-affirmed that reality that I should be more descrite with my actions. Normally, it probably wouldn't bother me that much other than I am saddened at the possibility of the loss of his friendship. I have to be extra careful because I am currently living in a very closed minded and red-neck town. What's even more interesting is that I'm supposed to be attending a "professional post-graduate" school and my classmates often pokefun at homosexuals and anyone else that is slightly different than them. It's all disgusting...I just hope that nothing bad comes out of this....

Amicus,

It is hard. I am having the same type problems. I am nervous about talking of my "Wiccan Ways" :)

My boss saw me on a Druid site the other day and wanted to know if I was going to turn him into a frog! (I almost said yes....)

Vancouver area people are laid-back, and largely non-judgemental, except for a few enclaves like Surrey, Abbotsford,
Mission, etc., everything is generally peaceful here....I am OUT
about being a Pagan, and since word is spreading about me,
I am getting more and more people asking me about Paganism,
I have been interviewed about Pagan Traditions on Co-op
Radio here, and I am preparing for another interview some time
soon...and after asking for support, while on air, for a radio
program about Pagan Traditions, there have been maaaany
people calling the station to voice their support.....so, I am waiting
for the programming committee to give the good news, hopefully.Would all readers send energy on this and a spell for
success?
Although I haven't yet been assaulted, or been given a harangue,
there are a few rednecks hereabouts, but they are a small
minority, and problems with them are infrequent.

Vancouver is a GREAT place to live, where you live life generally
peacefully. :sunny:

I'm still in the broom closet with my parents. My oldest sister, Shay, has known pretty much since day 1.. she's very open minded. Just this last week, I told my older sister, Cimarron-- she's more trendy, and we disagree about alot of things, so I figured it would be best if I didn't tell her.. but I got bored, so I did. I was amazed. First, she was asking all the usual questions, "Do you worship Satan?" "Do you sacrifice anything?" but it was more of a joke than serious. Then, surprisingly enough, she wanted to learn more about it!! I was so happy! I read her tarot cards and everything.. it was fun to share that with her. I'm just kind of nervous to tell my parents. We don't really talk about religion, so I don't know how to bring it up. I'm very open and honest about it with my friends, I've lost a few because of it.. but hey, if they can't respect my decisions, they can't respect ME. I feel your pain amicus.. but you can always be honest with us.. that should make you feel a little better!

Hi Amicus,

Hope that your friend comes to his senses and realises he needs to accept you for what you are.

As for telling your family, if they arent religious I dont see how you could have a problem. The way my Mother found out was from a book I bought, cant remember which one it was now, but it had Witchcraft or something in the title and she was very cool about it and just asked me to be careful. when she said that I was completely blown away! She usually is pretty freaky about stuff like this, so now I have more respect for her in the way that she has let me do what is right for me with out harassing me or anything. You might be surprised how they take it...

My two cents anyways..
