View Full Version : Past lives?

Who here believes in past lives?
I wouldn't believe in them, except for a strange chain of events and memories of things, people and places that I've never seen in my life. (And one song that I recognized the lyrics to, even though I hadn't heard it before in my life and it was a carol in Middle English.)
I'd be willing to share some of the dreams that led me to believe these two past lives happened (at the risk of sounding like a total nutjob), and I'd love to hear some other people's stories.
Cheers

(Postscript- :spinnysmi Am I the only one reminded of The Exorcist by this smiley? Forgive me, but I'm still entranced by these smileys :P Yes, I am easily amused.)
ETA- I don't know if this is the appropriate forum. Feel free to slap me on the wrist if this belongs someplace else.

I definitely belive in past lives, I don't think there's any way I couldn't, given the circumstances.

I don't remember anything about any past lives, but I am a firm believer in reincarnation. I had an astrological past life reading done once and it said that In a former life I used dark magic to manipulate and control others..I don't think I'd want to remember that. I take that particular reading with a grain of salt though.

I'm quite frankly undecided. As of yet, I've had no overwhelming evidence either way. I intend to keep exploring, though, and see what comes up.

Wow, maybe I'm not such of a psycho after all!
Anyone willing to share stories?
I'll post mine if anyone's interested. (It's quite a long read, and a bit difficult to follow, just putting everyone on notice.)
Cheers

I'm definately a believer, after many strange experiences... One of which involving a man who I developed an extreme attraction for that wasn't real and I believe was a residue (for lack of a better word) left over from a past life. That was a tough one, I couldn't figure out what I was feeling....

I believe in past lives. I've never had any memories of one though. I'd love to hear your story, Arwyn, and anyone else's stories too. I love reading about things like that. :)

Okay then... here goes.
(By the way, I was not on drugs when these things happened. Most people I tell seem to think so, but since there are so many believers here...)
One night I had a dream. It involved my family getting black spots on their skin, and these spots were transmitted by touching. Another night I dreamt of a man I was married to, and I knew him and loved him. I had a lot of dreams similar to these. All of them took place in the Middle Ages; England, I think.
What was really creepy was that there was a song that I didn't recognize the tune to, but recognized the lyrics of. It was written in the 1300s in Middle English, which had been translated to modern English, and the tune was written in the 1950s. When I hear the lyrics, I automatically replace the words in my head with the Middle English equivalents, and I never fully understood why. (If anyone owns the album "Grace" by Jeff Buckley, he recorded a version. It's track 8.) What was also weird (but probably coincidental) is that the song mentions a falcon (or, in ME, faucon: "a faucon hath borne my make away" make=mate), and one day when I was walking to a friend's house, I stopped and looked up for some reason. There was a falcon overhead, which was really bizarre because falcons aren't native to this area. Basically, these dreams seemed a lot like memories to me, and I was able to piece them together and come up with a rough outline of what I think may have happened. Basically: I was born to a poor family who died in the Plague (1500s). I was the only one who survived (no clue how), and went to live with a cousin in a major city (London, I think). My cousin was wealthy, and I married when I was fourteen years old. I grew to love the man that I married, and we lived happily for a while. After that it becomes fuzzy.
The other one is a lot heavier. I don't feel like typing it out now (yes, very lazy), so I'll come back later and tell the story. Hint: Warsaw, 1942. Yes, it's depressing.
Cheers

Wow, talk about flash backs. thats pretty detailed . you pieced them together really well.
makes me think i should start taking a better look at my own dreams. anyway, if i were you, i would keep meditating on those dreams and before you go to sleep, try asking for more insights on your past life. I've noticed that meditating on what you would like to know before you go to sleep helps to direct your dreams towards the thing you want to learn more about. but hey, just my own thoughts.

Oh, sorry, never even checked up on this thread.... Some things are so hard to put into words, aren't they? Frank was a HP of a coven I was involved with in the past, and for no apparent reason, he developed an instant and insane passion about me. I felt it too, it was strange, overwhelming. I would sit there and feel so strongly one minute and question it the next, and no it wasn't some puppy love or lust thing. I don't want to go into great detail about it, as it is an extremely personal and private experience, and I don't really have a good way of explaining. Well, that all just sounded like crap, huh? *sigh* In the end, I realized that I wasn't feeling my own emotions, but those of someone else, whether it was that Frank attempted to make me feel something that wasn't there or it was residue from a past life experience. I will never really know. I don't talk to him now, seeing as he's a married man with four children and there he was lusting after me. I felt that way too for awhile and did my best to keep him and those feelings at bay.

I believe. I was told in a past life I was a sailor, or something to do with the sea, but that I drown. I believe that is why today, I cannot sail due to this extreme sea-sickness I have. even on the clamest waters.

I adore the sea, and water in general. its probably the element I identify with the most. However, i must stay close to shore and not go too far down due to the fear of not being able to return. I'm a good swimmer, I've been trained to be a lifeguard, but I still have this fear which I believe was installed in me in a previous life.

I'm definitely a believer.

I think that's why it's so hard for me to explain why I HAVE to get to ireland. I'm pretty sure I was there in another life, and I think to learn what I need to in this life, I need to go back.

ya know, I didn't used to, but it just explains so many of my experiences w/recognizing ppl/places/things & knowing things I should about them & the instant bonds I have formed with some ppl....and the visions I have sometimes.....

I mean, I'm a Xtian witch, and I believe in Heaven, but what if Heaven is really like Nirvana & you have several lifetimes to learn lessons before you reach it?

Yes, I do believe in reincarnation. Most of the time I only get dreams of past lives and it’s hard to try and piece it all together. However, I have always felt drawn to North Georgia (in the USA). I went there because it seemed to be the place I was dreaming about all the time. Never have I had such intense déjà vu. I was in particular drawn to what used to be this gold mining town there. Luckily, you can still go down in the one of the mines there. A lot of the buildings there are the same as they were 100 years ago. I spent some weeks looking around and everything and such because it was very much like my dreams. I’m quite certain I must have lived there in a past life.

Believe, believe, believe!

Heh, Im not going to go into the why's of it  but I believe in past lives and in meeting people you have known before.

In fact, I think that in at least one life I was an animal.

Yep, believer here!

Yep. Absolutely zero doubt. I remember numerous lives in numerous cultures and as a male and female. The earliest one I can recall is back before humans were here. I was a golden-furred quadraped predator, canine I believe cuz in the prominent memory I am running through the tall yellowy grass, flanking a bovine hooved animal of some kind, and I can feel my packmates on the other side of the beast and behind it as we close tighter. I can feel the hot sun, smell the dirt and grass and air, and smell the meat of the animal who doesn't know we're there yet. It's a very clear and visceral memory.

I'm a believer! Whether or not it is true remains to be seen.

I have no past life memories that I know of. However my son has reoccuring dreams of being pushed off of a second story building.
My three year old daughter told me all about running away from a tornado. She was able to describe with quite a bit of detail how the wood shutters in her house flipped back and forth in the wind. She described the noise it made as it passed by, and how the tornado looked all "spikey" from picking up stuff. She told me that she was scared, and that she ran away, and was caught under trees. As a side note; we live in Arizona, have never experienced a tornado, and watch very little television.

I was careful never to lead my children when they told me these things, or coach them on. As of today, little Madeline has forgotten that she ever said anything.

I believe in past lives. I have been working on learning about my own recently. I can up with quite a few. For some reason however I seem to be better able to remember past life with a painful or sudden death?

Undecided. It makes sense to me it would take more than one life to see, feel, and know everything that prepares you for moving on. I have a hard time believing it 100% though, because the things I feel or seem to have such strong insticts on are could be the unexplored powers of the human subconcious. An overactive imagination. Hope.

Something keeps whispering to me, haunting me - I've been here before...

...but I can't be sure.

I believe in past lives. I can't say for sure that I have memories of any but I think that I have lived before. I have a huge desire to see Scotland and England. Never been there, but I feel like I NEED to be there. Make sense? I wonder if I have ever had an incarnation and lived there.

I have too much interest in the past to NOT have lived before.

I believe in past lives, in fact I feel tempted to say that I know in past lives, because I've had some very intense experiences that have later been verified.
The funny thing is, I've been a midwife before :)
