hmm....it's hard to say. The way i've always understood it, auras are affected by emotional states. Is it your own, other's, or both?

I see them that way, too.
Colourless (white) auras are generally just the persons energies in general; you can see whether their energy levels are strong or weak, but not so much their emotional state.
I have had experiences with strong-energied people where they will sit in a chair and get up, and I can see their energy imprint left in the chair for a good 20 minutes, looking like a ghost.
My boyfriend has a very strong aura, and I have seen him walk accross the floor, and leave white footprints on the carpet, kind of like a snail leaves a trail! He's always leaving handprints all over the place, which gets him into no end of trouble when he's been interfering with my cooking
I hope that shed some light on it, PM me if you have any questions

I've read about people seeing aura's and energies. It sounds like it would be neat.
I wonder though, is it a talent that people just have, or is it something that you would have to develop?
Just curious.

some people like me are born with it , but you can also develop this ability.i usually have to concentrate to be able to see the aura.

With me it's always been there, I just never really noticed until the past 2-3 years.
You can learn though, I think.

Some people say there are different levels of the aura, kind of like an onion; the whole thing can extend a few metres depending on the person and their state of health etc. Each layer relates to a different level - emotional and astral for example.
What colours you see depends on the level you "tune into", and maybe you have a knack of tuning into one layer. Perhaps trying different techniques might help - what ways have you tried?
I think colours are relative anyway. Even if you can't see colour, the shape of an aura, its strength and vibrancy etc can still tell you a lot about the person.
A very good book is Hands of Light by Barbara Ann Brennan - it's definitely a book about the way she sees things, but it has a lot of useful information in there too about auras, chakras and healing.

When I see it that way, I cock my head in question and say "Color?" in my mind. Usually I can see the colors then.
