Which is worse over hearing your parents have sex or hearing them fight ?

That's a tough one really. I hear my parents fight all the time (or at least I did when I lived with them...), but I think any hint of that kind of physical intimacy between them would freak me out. I think I'd have to say hearing them having sex since I'm kind of used to the yelling and bickering that it doesn't bother me.

I hate conflict and fights. I'd rather hear them having sex. At least I'd only feel creeped out and not like i want to go hide in my closet with a blankie.

as disturbing as both might be to you, do you think it would do more harm to not hear it. As in would it not effect you in that when you went through it yourself later you would not know if this was ok or not...?

I dont see how not hearing it would hurt anything.
With reguards to going through it yourself, that relates to arguing but for myself I cant stand to heart people argue. So I dont argue. I will talk, debate and discuss but not argue. I dont find a reason for yelling at each other. And you cant argue if no one argues back. When my SO and I are on differant opinions, we will talk but if it starts leading to an arguement, we stop and continue when we can without yelling. It just doesnt resolve anything to argue, except that eventually one will give in because they are sick of fighting. Thats not resolving the problem, thats putting up with the problem. It causes regret later quite often.

And all issues in a relationship can be solved if both people really wants to solve the problem verses changing the others opinion by arguing.

When my mom was still with my dad, i'd have said sex. I hated hearing them fight, and it didn't creep me out hearing them have sex, i thought nothing of it.

But with my mom and her new boyfriend, i'd prefer to hear them fight. I hate her bf (and shes beginning to hate him too) and it REALLY disturbs me when i hear them having sex *shudders*

I never heard my parents doing either. To quote my mother "that is why your bedroom was on a different floor".

It freaks me out to think that my s-d can/might hear us having sex (she's 13 now).

I have heard both ,and it is a tie. I hated when they fought, but the mental pictures of my Dad naked:ahhhh:very scary thought! Ewwwww!!!!!!

I think the fighting is worse and has much greater potential for being destructive later on. Hearing your parents have sex may creep you out, but it'll only give you a story to tell people later in life. It doesn't have the potential to scar you for life that fighting does.

Hey, I'd have been happy to have grandparents, my grandfathers were both dead before I was born and both Grandmothers were old and infirm for as long as I knew them...

Hearing them fight is worse.... though sex would rate much higher on the 'creepy' scale. Why does that creep us out anyways? I mean, we're here because they had sex, so that really doesn't make much sense, huh? I hate fighting, I know, I know, it's healthy, it's human, but I still hate fighting with the SO or anyone I love.

fighting for me without a doubt

I'm 31 and I still have nightmares that keep me up from when I was a child screaming for them (my dad and my mom) to stop. I kicked my dad and "step-it" out of my life for their fighting about five years ago. I didn't want to hear it anymore.....

But I gotta ask, what's the big deal over hearing your folks have sex? I don't understand why that freaks people out. So they're totally into each other, so what? They're human, after all, and * did * have a life before you came along. Parents are not asexual beings soley there to provide/annoy you.
