My favorite is mixing dried white sage leaves and stems and lavender into a small shell and lighting that..... I don't tend to use the charcoal to help it burn since I'm one that likes to sit and fan it lightly with a long feather.... I use it mainly to cleanse myself and house of negative energy.... also it smells wonderful =)
Though it can be very powerful and smokey inside ... you may want to do only alil at a time.... my neighbors in the apartment building love the smell of it also... since at times I DO get alil carried away =)
