Oooh! hehee Good topic!
Well, I have been initiated into a lesser known healing system called Magnified Healing. I've kind of been letting it go recently, but just started doing daily attunements again. It's very similar to Reiki in that it's energy healing, and you can do absentee healings and things like that too.
I'm also into doing chakra balancing using crystals and such. I love crystals in general, they are wonderful tools to assist healing.
I have also used candle magick for healing - I often ask angels to assist in that too, once it even caused me to astral travel (I think that would be the easiest to understand term) to the person I was doing an absentee healing on.
I also love Louise Hay and her affirmations, Homeopathy, and the Bach Flower remedies. hehehe

Thanks to my HP studying in our Trad's "Vatic" Priesthood, I've been going through his notes and have discovered an interest in "healing with stones". In fact, he made up a pouch of certain stones just for this purpose. Yesterday, I took a hematite and ran it over a bruise on my hand ~ followed by rose quartz. This morning, the swelling and pain are gone, and the discoloration is almost gone, as well. Very intersting, and I hope to look into this more. My skills lie more in Druids and Bards, though. :-/ (we need a "wry face" smilie!)

OOOH fascinating Mari :)
I've had a few books and some special gemstones for chakra healing for awhile now, just never had a chance to work with them yet. The only person I can think of in my life who would really benefit from this is my dad and he doesn't feel comfortable with the idea of this, or laying of hands.
On that note - what about healing yourself? Can you effectively stop pain and nausea by focusing energy? I can sometimes, depends on how bad it is. I think it's a matter of the fact that if I have a really bad headache I can't concentrate, but if it's still a medium headache I can concentrate and then can focus on ridding it... comments?

Happens.........
Of course I use my western conventional means
when its called for......
Herbal healing all the time and ongoing with the Chinese approach of maintaining health......
WHICH REMINDS ME... Semele ......(happy Birthday again) AND here in Maryland Registered Nurses have been LEGALLY empowered to recommend any and all OTC's ( in laymans terms are over the counter) medications applications and remedies.
There are guidelines of course and they include taking a history , knowing side effects, checking for other medications the person is taking and checking for adverse interactions potentiations etc....of course checking for allergies, and tracking results, which in effect
has made any RN that is interested ...... effectively a LEGAL HERBALIST ,
as part of our hard earned nursing practice, because herbs are considered OTC's, so this falls within the scope of practice now!!!!!!!!
I am wondering if your state can do this, and if so I can get you the guidelines from Maryland, and you could send it to your state board as a suggestion. This is one of the most empowering things that has happened to nurses in along time in my opinion.
Other than the Herbal ; any type of healing working , especially healing circles, which are my forte .. and incredibly effective, I love working with a healing group.
I am working on "charging" crystal grids...... which is an advanced crystal method of healing over time, definitely color and sound healing with music for the chakras, and astrological medicine as well.....
My grandaughter is healing very well..... I am using distance healing with her moon in Gemini energy ..Gemini being the ruler of the hands arms and wrists , she is not in pain and able to use her fingers ..... so I sent her some protection , and a computer LOL, but it will help strengthem her wrists as she uses it.
I feel that nursing could be a great sisterhood of healers if we could but tap more women in the profession into that energy, and acknowledge our heritage as healers as important as doctors.
I have been exploring any and all kind of alternative energy healing for many years.. and my closest friend is a Reiki master and I work with her frequently .I love dance and movement therapy, art therapy ..... all of which can be used by the non-professional as well as the professional . I think the dance therapy is one of the best self-healing ones :> to answer your question Willow .
I am familiar with the "Magnified Healing" as well through the Grace of the Goddess Kuan Yin, who is my patron.
I love Louise Hay, I used to use her tapes in groups when I worked in psyche.... and I can use neurolinquistic programming , creative visualisation, and hypnosis therapy as well. I am
an RNC... Semele... Nationally Certified in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing. I use my skills these days for grief counseling at the nursing home, people are so lost when they are grieving.
My life long profession is that of healing .....
even prior to the 23 years I have spent as a nurse.... so I am definitely subscribing to this thread !

Hi Willow Raven,
I find that a lot of my headaches can come around from an abundance of energy in my crown chakra. My thoughts are that it happens because of a blockage in the chakras, so doing a chakra healing can really help. As can AMETHYST! I love amethyst for headaches.
For introducations into crystals and chakra healing check out Liz Simpson's series. I have the Crystal Healing book by here, and I'm about to get the Chakra Healing one, which is also very good (seen it in the stores).

i actually started to do healing before i even knew what reiki was. i found that i could focus my energy and flow it through someone's body while sort of cleaning their energy. i've been able to take headaches away, stop joint pain, calm people down, give 'em a little boost, put them to sleep, and many other things :D
i am always very carefull with people. if i don't feel they would be capable of accepting my energy, it should not be done. also, i have to be carefull of how strong my energy is. also, if i'm not feeling well or capable myself, if i were to do this, i could hurt them, so i never do it then. there is a possibility for many things to go wrong. all healers must be very carefull.

I also used to attempt to use my own energy to heal others, but I found it took a lot out of me and I couldn't control it as well, or be sure they were getting what they needed not just what I was sending. That is one reason why I prefere Reiki. You aren't using your own energy, but rather taping into the universal life force. The client or person recieving the treatment takes what they need, naturally, using you as a "conductor or conduit". In fact, I feel more balanced after giving a treatment. Almost as though I have gotten one as well. I certainly don't miss that drained feeling after a session.
I also am learning to heal by the earth. Walking barefoot or laying in the grass is a great way to tap into the awesome energy she contains. I think all of us can learn to heal ourselves in this manner.

is very stabliising ,, soothing and healing..... , and tree energy can be that and energising as well .... depending on the season if it is a deciduous tree.
For a headache......use very gentle acupressure
On forehead, one finger's width above the eyebrows. Directly above your pupils. You may feel a little groove in your temple bone. Use a light touch! (Too much can cause a
headache).
At bottom of cheekbone, under bone ridge, directly down from the pupil. Lightly press up into the notch on bottom of cheekbone.
On your foot, Between the 4th and 5th toes, trace a line up to the junction of the bones. Press just below the juncture.
At top of neck, one finger's width out from the middle, below the skull, between cervical bones 1 and 2. Tip: Put three fingers on back of neck where it meets the head
-- that way you're sure to touch the spot. Firm pressure on trapezius muscle (on neck).
In the hollow below the ridge on the back of the skull, on either side of your spine, between the trapezius and sterocleidomastoid muscles. Use firm pressure and tilt head back
On the top of the trapezius muscle, on the highest point of your shoulder,
approximately three fingers out from neck. Dont use if Pregnant
From Edgar Cayce comes this very simple H/A remedy. Put your chin on your chest; and then make a circle with your head and completey rotate your head as far as you can comfortably tilting your back as far you can and return to the chin chest position; in each directions three times. This is also a great little energy booster and "de-fogger"

Oh, man, Dellit, you have watched one too many episodes of Dragonball Z.
Am I the only one here who defers to his doctor for purposes of healing?

is completely and utterly up to the individual involved , and your choice is just that .......individual ........
I would never tell an individual NOT to see a doctor unless I had serious misgivings about an individual doctor, and I have seen several doctors in my career as a nurse that had serious problems , and once left a job because of a doctor who eventually ended up in a drug rehab. Even then I would recommend a doctor who had a good reputation.
The Nursing Code of Ethics REQUIRES Registered Nurses to always recommend a doctor .
I wouldnt let the fact that medical mistakes are becoming one of the leading causes of death in this counrty deter me either ........if i thought I needed a doctor .... or a Nurse Practitioner.
Blessings

Not at all...traditional medical practitioners are a valuable assett, but that isn't really what we are discussing here.

How do I go about learning about reiki? Is it something I can learn and help with myself, or will someone else have to do it to me? Any suggestions on reading material or anything about this will be greatly appreciated!

Yeah! I'd forgotten that "trick" until you mentioned it!! I have an amethyst shard I used to place on the top of my head and pull the energies through my body. I've not done that in a long time. Will have to start doing that again!
Maye we should start a "stone healing" thread or something and explore all of this??

Check out the thread about Reiki. I have posted a couple of good links where you can find a lot of info on Reiki. This is going to likely be an interesting topic for many folks. Dagda, who moderates in the Tarot forum is a Reiki Master and a very good source of info. She offers attunements and teaches for a small fee. I got my level one through her and she is awesome!! If you are really interested in learning, I would highly recommend her.

I use chrystals in healing, Reiki, and Candle magick. If the person is actually there in person with me, I'll use a combination of reiki and chrystals. If they aren't present, I mostly use candles, though i include chrystals on the altar, geared to the purpose of that specific healing.

Ive only just discovered the healthy healing room! & have been reading all your posts with a big smile on my face and a 'Oh ill have to write that down..' every few sceonds!
Swan thanks for all your suggestions and beautiful pictures!
I use Crystals on myself and friends but mainly my bf for healing ~ I love laying out all correspnding Crystals over Chakra's, or for curing headaches or back pains.
I also always carry one of my favourite pieces of crystal a Moonstone when my moon time comes each month ~ which helps a great deal with bloating and pain.
I practise candle magic from time to time for general health and well being and also make up my own Aromatherapy oil blends for friends and for custom.
& I think reading the Tarot card or runes for someone is healing them in a way because it is advice from the goddess! and I find it does help people a great deal.
I would love to learn many more healing techniques and more about Crystals and herbs!
Reiki sounds amazing and I cant wait to start soon with Dagda :D

Yeah I can imagine that burnign the right coloured candles while parctising reiki and then asking your patient to burn them again afterwards would reallt tie together very nicely!!
If you need any advice of candles just shout :)
Also maybe you should look into Aromatherpy Oils too ~ to burn while doing Reiki or to massage alternating Reiki ~ they would be wonderfull for your mothers back :)

Greetings and blessings to all,
A friend of mine introduced me to your site and I found this thread. I am very interested in healing as that is what I want to do with my life. I am currently studying the wonderful art of Chiropractic but am very interested in other healing arts, especially those that work with the bodies own energies. Any good source material suggestions? I know that I left that open to a broad range of information, but I have only a very limited knowledge of healing arts outside western medicine and am very interested in learning about much more.

Oh wow Swan .
That well is amazing, felt so relaxed looking at it.:)
Id love to see it for real.
Thanks Silver, i actually do have a question.
Is it alright to use candles which are white inside but have a color coat? these seem to b the only types i can find here nowdays.
Except if i purchase scented candles but i dont always want to have a aromatic candle.
And aromatherapy would go nicely with reiki:)
Oh and welcome to our comunity Oridian, im sure you will love it here as im sure we all do.

Jumping in here, hope no one minds. I feel that it's ok to use those candles, because the vibration of the colour and its relation to your intent is still clear. Yes, aromatherapy would also be excellent - consider how the smell of baking goodies so clearly brings back memories of home or family, and consider how this would apply to family spells or loving magick. These mindkeys can be just as effective as colour. Just my beliefs :)
Welcome Oridian. This community in itself carries a wealth of information, which is good, since you have chosen such a broad field. Start here to find information on reiki and gemstone healing as well as other types of healing and then you can go from there too. Brightest blessings on your path!

Swan ~ That picutre is so beautiful and mesmerising! I actually felt like the well ~ bottomless, going on forever, with many, many surfaces and ripples still to discover.. always flowing, always moving, emoitonal and relaxed.
Ive never been to Glastonbury but would olove to go some day soon ~ who knows maybe before this summer is out :)
Mythril ~ Those candles sound fine to me! As long as you feel comfortable using them ~ thats what is important with candle magic ~ you need to feel right and the colour and candle and confident. :)
Willow ~ Mmm yummy!! I can smell home right now!!
Love the idea of baking a spell! Something healthy to promote health and wellbeing in your own body! Lots of herbs and just a few bats wings! :D
