I remember seeing a similarly titled post a while back...never finished reading the thread though. Deal with me here a minute and don't hate me. Some of you barely know me. For all I know, all of you barely know me. Anyways, my point in this post... It seems that for the past few days, weeks, whatever, every time I come to MW and read a thread, someone is arguing. Yes, I know we all have every right to get upset, mad, angry, whatever and express it. But it just seems there's more of it going around lately. And it's starting to bring me down. I love MW and I love the people here. But I can't spend all my time here in Just Silly, where it seems to be no fighting!! I know there's nothing I can do to keep ya'll from arguing as it is your God/dess given right. And I sure as h3ll can't ask you to not post here because this isn't my wedsite or my right to! But can I ask just one teeny, tiny favor--Can we all just try to get along? :hugz: I mean, I understand we get upset and want to let the other person know why we are upset. But it seems there are just threads after threads of arguing back and forth. And it can get even some of the happiest people down!! So come on people, hug your friendly neighborhood MW person!! Don't beat them :fishsmack down! And just because I don't know some of you, it doesn't mean I can't say this:
I love each and every one of you!
Please don't read this a harsh, b!tchy or rude sounding. It's the furthest from it!

Dixie, I understand where you're coming from. And with that in mind, I won't give you a tongue-lashing (because you don't deserve one). However, I'm not a happy person. I'm a depressed person living in a very angry, impatient, sad, annoying and annoyed society. It colors my every waking moment and it's not going to change anytime soon.
My posts are liable to continue make you very depressed because I won't change until things in the world change. You'd do well to put me on Ignore. It would be better for your peace of mind.

Seeing how the world is never going to change in my lifetime, I guess so. Sorry you're so down. I spent a good portion of my life angry, depressed, and down all the time. When I realized there was nothing I could do to change the world, I decided to just live with what the Goddess gave me, one day at a time. I just wish we didn't have to live in a world such as the one that makes you feel like this all the time NeferSesemet. It's not fair for you or for anyone and it makes me very sad.

I really don't intend to argue, and I'm really not angry when I argue, I just speak my mind and for some reason people seem to take that personally or think I'm "preaching..."

I don't know what all threads you've been reading, DixieWitch, but either I haven't seen them or I have a different perspective here. I've seen people who disagree, but in general this disagreement is expressed with respect. When someone feels that a post has been inappropriate, rude or disrespectful all they have to do is click on the report button and the mods will take a look at it. I myself enjoy getting into discussions where everyone doesn't agree, it opens my mind to other viewpoints and helps me to decide whether my own viewpoint is true for me or maybe I haven't given it enough thought. Any internet discussion board is going to attract people who have widely different opinions, this one is certainly the best I have found for maintaining a civil and respectful ambiance. I hope you will stay around and read some more, share your thoughts and opinions and be open to what others have to say. :)

Everything seems fine to me and there are some pretty good chuckles moving around.

Lunacie, I had no plans on leaving. Maybe I'm just reading some of the posts wrong. Aine, I know you for one, aren't arguing. It just seems most of the discussions sound angry, if you can sound that way here!! I dunno, maybe it just me, taking everything in the wrong way.

I think a lot of the problem is that it's very difficult to convey emotion while you are typing a post on a discussion board. Some of my posts might seem angry, but I'm sitting here with a smile on my face!

Maybe it's the dang humidity?
If that's the case it's just going to get worse... At least around here where the humidity is sky-rocketing and not expected to get better anytime soon...

I've seen alot of posts ilke this over the two years that I've been here. I've also seen a lot of posts over the years that had people complaining that no one was talking about anything of any substance. :) Disagreement is inevitable in settings like this. You are surrounded by people of all different religious callings and cultural backgrounds, from the most liberal to the more conservative. *...shrugs...* Every single person here is very passionate about their beliefs. Add to that the fact that there are people for whom humilty and modesty is an alien concept, and has absolutely no place in their lives or their religion, and you get some interesting threads at times. For my part, I'd much rather prefer people disagreeing than playing all nice because they're afraid to "rock the boat."
I don't think people are being any more negative or tense. I think there are just a very large number of people here who aren't afraid to speak their minds (yes, like you, Pawnman! :p ).

I've noticed too. Maybe this isn't what you mean, but it seems like the tone of some of the discussions have seemed sort of pushy..or like some people purposely want to stir up controversy and take it a little too far. I also hate it when someone makes an innocent comment or asks for prayer or whatever and they're put down or ganged up on. I haven't been posting very much because a lot of what's being said has really been making me mad, and I don't want to get into anything negative right now. I think I'll stick to the circle of teaching for awhile.
