Hello all, once again.

I'm starting to think there's some invisible evil residence in my room. Things... dissapear.

The most popular item to dissapear is the VCR remote. I'm guessing they pick this because without it, we can't watch VHS, DVD or play any video game systems. We can only watch boring TV.

It's dissapeared a few times, in strange ways.

First time we lost it, it wasn't for very long, but we ransaked the whole place looking for it. We tore the couch apart at least 3 times. We about gave up looking for it for the evening when my roomy noticed it was sitting just as happily as can be right between the last cusion on the right and the arm of the couch.

No, wait, you'll LOVE the next one.

The 'mote dissapeared again... this time for almost 2 months, I think.

Tore the room apart multiple times. Rearraged the furniture while we were at it... we figured the couch was hiding it again... tore that apart COUNTLESS times.

Then one day... it shows up. Underneath the cusion. Just... sitting there... like it was there the whole damn time.

There's other random incidences, but this is enough for me because just last night I lost a very important folder with my notes for my novel in it. Hours and hours of work... just GONE. If that little... thing took it... *grumbles and shows fangs*

Any advice? Any? Just a little? *whimper*

Well, that only works if there are mirrors in the room....

LOL!!! I have some of those evil elves at my house! The key-card to the gym at my leasing office has been "gone" for months. I've ransacked the entire apartment & my car & every purse & coat pocket...nothing.

Now my very favorite brand new lip gloss has disappeared....

I think they get bored & like to _____ with us.

All us elves are nice people. :)

We have those--we call them gremlins. One day last summer they decided to quit thieving stuff and introduce themselves by way of discreet warm spots on the kitchen counter... and nothing's disappeared since. Before that, I lost a painting due to be delivered to a customer three days later; one day I was prepping a canvas and my eraser disappeared during the afternoon-long process. Later that day it turned up on top of the microwave--when I hadn't been in the kitchen all afternoon.

It sounds like they're bored when you're watching tv and playing video games, and they find it more entertaining to watch you run around and tear the place apart looking for things. Maybe they just need more attention. (How to achieve this is beyond me, I'm afraid). :whatmewor

Glue one of things on it that beeps when you clap-they sell them on key chains for-duh-keys. Clearly there's something playful, not malicious,in your house that likes to bug you. It could be worse-my best friend has an entity that flings open the bathroom door to all and sundry whenever I'm on the pot! :hairraise

Set aside someplace in the living room where you'll keep your remotes and anything else that you don't want to misplace. Then get in the habit of putting the remotes there every time you're not actually using them. You're more likely to remember where something is if you only have one or two places where you normally put it.

Either that, or put tethers on them and attach to the tv... and you could also use them to trip one another.. oh man... I must be bored bored bored

Talk to them, Xeen. I used to tell our gremlins off whenever they "borrowed" something we really needed, and finally, after the introdcution, they quit.

Actually...you can also try asking for it back. Just say "that folder was very important to me....you've had your fun, now I would like it returned please"....go to bed, and see if it shows up the next morning :)

Yeah, i agree... ask for it back. But that just reminds me of Fairies. Man, they're really good about stealing things and putting it back in odd places. It happened with a friend of mine's boyfriends hat. He thought their son had it, but they found it outside and on a branch that neither my friend or the son could have put it! LOL!`

I have the same problem with my socks, i always make sure that i put them in the washing machine in exact pairs, and when i go to hang them on the line afterwards there's always some damn odd ones missing, i'm sure i've got a mischievous sock fairy pinching them from my washing machine!

I have what I call "my leprechan" who has followed me to each place I've moved and likes to steal things. Once, I lost my brush for an entire week, only to wake up one morning and find it laying right outside my bedroom door. That's when I knew that I wasn't just losing things, or being forgetful.

YeeHee..I have some "evil" little goobers who occasionally make things disappear at my house too...and then just as mysteriously reappear weeks or even months later. Then of course, there's the wicked little varmit that lives in the kitchen and turns the water on in the sink and floods the kitchen every so often. They! blame it on the cats, but I know better!!!!! Call 'em elves, gremlins, goblins, brownies, or whatever!!! Never anything truly harmful, but certainly aggravating and annoying! So far no one has taken a fancy to the remote though!

I believe there are not so much evil, but mischevious creatures. If memory serves me correcxtly and feel free to correct me, piskies, pixies, hobgoblins, gremlins, and kobolds, just to name the ones off the top of my head are very mischevious. You could also have a mischeivous spirit. Things like that happen to me all the time. I think we have someone or other in one of those general departments. I'd also like to add Brownies to the list, but alas I know very little of brownies.

About the tether idea: I suggested that to the roomie. I wanted to superglueducttapehotgluegunstaplefunpaster some kind of super strong string to the remotes, and then the other end to a really cool Chinesey empty planter, and just put the 'motes in the planter... but he didn't seem too keen on that, so we've been putting them in the planter without a tether.

As for my folder... I got it back! It was sitting on my desk in my office, way across town! >.< GRR! I swear I had it in the car with me, 'cause I remember scooting it out of harm's way... damnit.

Hmm... do you think if I put out a candy or something and offer it to those Evil Beings, they'd make a fair trade? Heh... then again, they might start using that to their advantage ^-^

Anyway... my roomy has always had things like this happening, and I've had things like this constantly happening to me, ever since I was a kid, so I think when I moved here, my Evil Beings went into cahoots with -his- evil beings.

Time to break their party up LOL
