Okay...I know most of us celebrate Samhain these days, and don't do the halloween, trick or treat thing anymore. But...question..what was YOUR favorite halloween costume when you were young?

One year..my brother and his best friend, were GhostBusters. They wore old tan work uniforms, and carried broken vaccuum cleaners as proton packs. I was slimer. I wore a green sheet, with glow in the dark paint on it, and my face, and carried a bucket of green jello to throw on people. That was my favorite...i have a picture of me dressed up as a punk rocker, as a teenager too...and as a geisha girl.

I only got to celebrate Halloween once :(, because Australia doesnt really get into it. We were in Scotland at the time and I remember dressing up as ...wait for it......a witch. I had the rockingest hat in all of the town! Well I think I did anyway.

LOL I was a girl version of Gene Simmons... that was fun. I was the ONLY person dressed up at school that year (11th grade) because I missed the day that they told people not to dress up--we had testing that day and the principal thought it would be too distracting. LOL Imagine that. :) I was a witch pretty much every year when I was a kid.. I always loved being a witch. The Slimer costume is so unique and creative!! Thats hilarious that you threw green jello at people! And I do still dress up, because my friends all celebrate Halloween and usually have a party, and I can't just *not* attend! :) Last year I was a vampire.. I superglued fake fingernails to my teeth..it's amazing how well that works!! And they pop right off when you want them to. A couple years ago, my best friend had a great costume (she stole it from one of the characters on Buffy). She was dressed as she normally was, but she had one of those "Hello My Name Is..." stickers on her chest.. on that sticker she wrote GOD. hahaha Cheap and easy and hilarious!!

two years ago..my friend dressed up as a "cereal killer". She wore a huge trench coat, with cereal boxes with fake blood on them, and knives sticking out of them.

Saimhain or not, I dress up for halloween more now, in my 20's, that I ever did in my teens.

Am I the only one?

This year, it's Ash, from Army of Darkness. Hail to the King, baby!

I was a cat, always a black cat and my mom wouldn't let me be one every year so I was a cat every other year about 5 times! :)

Heck no, you're not alone!! Last year, I dressed in my favorite ritual robe, grabbed my favorite cloak and one of those plastic cauldrons ~ and my staff. I filled the cauldron to the brim with candy and went for a walk through my neighborhood. It was great!! :D

My favorite ever was last year's, dressing as San from Princess Mononoke, or the Wicked Witch of the West when I was about four, complete with green facepaint and latex nose-wart.

my hubby(30) and I(25) dress up and go out with the kids to the school carnivel every year. parents are amazed that we still dress up. Our kids just love it. even when they are grow and gone i think I will still dress up. I have so much fun at it and so do the trick-or-treaters. I will always be a kid on the inside. ;)

My faves......
Oh that is a tough one! All Hallow's Eve has always been my personal fave from a wee one.

Some of my better costumes have come as an adult though.

My hubby and I were Fred and Wilma Flintstone when I was pregnant with my son 11 yrs ago. Those were absolutley awesome costumes! Wish I had picks:(:(:(

But 2 years ago I was Cleopatra and hubby was a mummy.
Got lots of comments on those costumes too.

I have always liked being a cat. At work, that is the best costume. I do the "cats" style theatre make up. It looks choice. The kids at work always get a big bang out of it.

Huh? All my friends still dress up for Samhain for our big Samhain bash. It might be hard to do a serious Samhain ritual when your friend the drag queen is calling in the God, but it sure is fun.

Last year I was the devil, the year before that I was an angel. This time I think I'm going to be a wet dream (no I'm not kidding). Not sure yet tho.

I liked being the devil last year - all red outfit and forked tail, dark makeup and crazy hair. Hm I think I have a pic of it somewhere at my parents' home. My fiance was Cyclops ;)

I'm usually something unique. . . when I was a baby, my mom was a witch and I was a bat (attached piccy), one year I was a mouse (pretty darn big 11 year old mouse), one year I was a Christmas Tree (did that one all by myself *grin*) and last year I was Sailor Moon (there's a piccy SOMEWHERE in the member photos thread). . . hehehe I LOVE halloween. . . I always dress up, even if I'm the only 16-year-old parading around in a costume hehe mwahahaha I dono what I'll be this year, but be sure, it'll be stunning! Now I have a girl I babysit to use as an excuse to go out trick-or-treating! :D

Am ancient (36) and still dress up. Personal favorite is a vampire, I do it very well. Usually a street tough like "Lost Boys" or similar gothic attire.

And, I do a very very realistic walking corpse. With a bit of bone showing through the face, and if in a military dress uniform I add a bullet hole on my forehead with a fly or two.

Is too fun!!

My fav costume was a chocolate chip cookie! :D
I cut out 2 large circles of foam rubber & painted it light brown & glued the edges together. I cut out dark brown circles & glued them on for ther chocolate chips. I cut a hole that looked like teeth marks at the top. I was very proud of it. I thought it really looked like a giant chocolate chip. When I wore it for Halloween, everyone asked if I was a potato!

The last 2 halloweens I was a space cadet, Captain Blasted, visiting the planet earth. All I did was drink and dance and hit on earth-women the entire night. Perhaps this sun-cycle, I will get lucky, and after imbiling enough fermented vegetable brews a nubile earth-woman will finally take me up on my offer to see my "rocket ship".

I always have great costumes! I love dressing up for halloween or plays tht I do. My most extravagent costume was when I had the dress kate winslet wore when she was on the bow of the ship saying "I'm flying jack" tailor made for me. It is so pretty, I even dyed my hair red, my friends always said I looked like her so that was tons of fun. = ) I've also dressed up as a grecian goddess before and a colonial girl with the mob cap and big puffy dress ext. (I wore that one to school, I was overflowing out of my desk and I had a little lower locker so I had to kneel and the dress looked like a little mushroom it was so cool! = )

I fav costume as a kid, was one my mom made. I was about 12 and was wilma flintsone, complete with chicken bone in the hair. My little sis was about 3 and she was my pebbles. I wore it to our school carnival. Oh, and my dad made paper mache "clubs" for us

As an adult, I was a pregnant Nun when I really was pg. That was fun. Now days I rarely dress up, but this year may wear my Faire garb when I walk my daughter around.

Don't mean to DATE myself but, I must. I was a Disco GOD in the 70's and donned a leisure sute and the whole bit. At some point came the Urban Cowboy - that was a hoot. Won first place in a contest about 4 years back as Braveheart (though I looked a little more like Jerry Garcia in drag).

Circumstance has dictated a little more serious attitude towards Samhain - Black robe, red sash, Athame and a hood. This has turned out more spiritual then most, even I, would have expected. But, hey, have fun.

I remember going as Casper the friendly ghost when I was VERY young (perhaps the same year it came out).

Dang, I'm old :D

A few years ago I went as Sally from
"the Nightmare before Christmas". A patchwork dress, hair long and straight, pale skin laced with stitches, the works! I even had a model of Jack (Paper towel rolls, striped black construction paper and a bit of paper mache...he was perfect!) that I carried around with me. :)
It was very cute.

Wow..you guys are SO creative.

A few years ago..I went to a Halloween fundraiser, and dressed as a sea witch. I wore a silver dress...my face was painted a bluish green..with glitter all over it...my hair was dyed dark green (like sea weed)..my lips were painted deep purple, as were my nails, and my fingertips were also a purplish hue. I had a plastic swathe of mistle toe around my neck. I removed the berries from it..so it looked more like sea weed. I wore a "Star fish" necklace, and carried a driftwood staff. Alas...there aren't any pics. My mom has them..and they are up in her attic.

I had to revive this.. it's too cool!

I remember dressing up as a butterfly with cardboard wings. My sister was a mosquito and my brother was a bumble bee. :D

That was so funny! They had stingers tied to their butts! :T:T:T

My boyfriend went as a disco cow one year. He had the cow costume, complete with udders, and a fro wig that was at least two feet across. He won third place at the club's costume contest. :D

I've dressed up as:
Barbie: UGH never again
Fairies: Many times
Princess: once
Southern Belle: Once *My line as i left was "Y'all come down and vote Y'hear?"
Wednesday Adams: Scared a child.. i had perfected "I'm a Homicidal maniac.. we look just like everybody else" and was toting a hand made knife *a cut to size paint stirrer.. black painted handle.. tinfoil aruond the knife part..*.. was a good year

My favorite was probably when i was sixteen.. i looked divine as a lil black gothic diva..
