I've a question. Do you find stinky, sweaty, dirty (literally, not perverted) men or women wearing (men) dirty tanktops or (women) hardly anything at all?
I just don't understand the obsession with men with matted dirty hair and women with blonde hair with the underside black or other dark colour.
Am I just blind, or is it really more disgusting than it is sexy to see a woman covered in greasey sweat being way too close to a man covered in greasey sweat?

I'm not sure. This just reminds me of the hidden little words and pictures (naked women, vulgar phrases, etc.) they put in Disney movies to keep the parents subconsciously entertained. I'm not sure if they ever worked or not, though.

Lol..yeah. Like the naked woman in the window when the albatross is taking off on the rescuers..That cracked me up when I saw the still frame.
There are lots of soda commercials. I'm thinking maybe Doctor Pepper did some, but I'm not sure.
Also, see most rap/hip hop videos, as well as other pop artists (need I name them? :D) to get what I'm talking about.

Yep. I know a few offhand AND checked them out to make sure they were true.
The Lion King: When adult Simba flops down into the bunch of flowers while looking up at the stars, the pollen blows into the wind. For a brief moment, you can see the word "sex" spelled out by the pollen.
Aladdin: When Aladdin is dressed as a prince and trying to shoo the tiger away from him on the balcony, in the midst of his repeating "Down, kitty. Good kitty," he says, "Good teenagers take off their clothes." Good teenagers is said normally, the rest is said very fast.
The Little Mermaid: On the original VHS cover, there was a...uh...male organ hidden within the background underwater castle. Also, when the bad guy and the prince are about to get married, the priest is...um...excited over the ceremony?
The Rescuers: When the two mice are on the seagull and taking off, you can see a split-second of a picture of a naked woman in the background.
There are others, but I've never seen if they were true.

sweat. Well I have to admit that alot of it on my own person I find very repulsive. I have however noted that the sweat of humans changes smell according to whats making them sweat or there mood. Certain of those smells... I do find rather attractive. Ive yet to find one that made me sick though.

A few years ago (in the early 90s) we had a series of diet coke ads run in Australia, one was a window washer, another was a water guy delievering purified water.
Personally I don't find it attractive, I don't like being sweaty myself, why would I want some one else's sweat on or near me?

I hate being sweaty. I'm not all sorts of interested when my hubby is sweaty and dirty.
I can see the "sexiness" angle in commercials...
But bring that commercial person into real life, and I'd tell 'em to take a shower before getting anywhere near me.
*shrug* I have no idea.
Pol
July 25th, 2004, 07:59 PM
Yeah, I can see it as 'sexy' in the commercial - but in a way, that's beacuse it's a fictional world where that's sexy. I think they'd find it more realistically sexy if the people had smooth, clean skin and were wearing clothing that didn't cling/show everything, but instead flow and accentuate. But that's me ;)

As an empath, I already have a hard time seeing a woman as just the sum of her body parts. So even the most drop-dead gorgeous woman physically needs to also have the right stuff on the inside to impress me. Sweat, grime, or dripping wet getting out of the shower don't really do much for me.
What does impress me is what a girl does with what she's got. Taking care of herself, a decent sense of stlye, and most importantly a deep inner spirituality -- these are what turn my head.
{Tigress}

I don't find it attractive, but I did date a guy once who although VERY reserved in public, could not "help" but come up and kiss me as I got hot and sweaty exercising or playing a physical game. I asked him once why he did that and he said it was seeing me all hot and sweaty and that really turned him on.

Ooo! I can't stand the grimey grungy look. Especially the dirty hair! I'm a big Lord of the Rings fan (read the books first) but when, in great anticipation, I went to see the first movie I was quite turned off by Aragorn's looks. When I read the books, in my imagination :bigblue: , he was more princelike less grungelike :crylaugh: . And whenever someone says that they think he's hot, I just kinda hope they've seen him in something else where his hair was clean.

And, off-topic but still within the thread, in a college English class I once had a very odd professor who was obsessed with subliminal advertising. The only book we read all semester was Huckleberry Finn and we spent the rest doing research on subliminal stuff. He turned us into experts on detecting it. Did you know that in almost every liquor or drink add, the word "Sex" is spelled out? Usually more than once too. It's in the ice cubes. Or, on bodies, in sweat patterns.
I once found "sex" in the spots on a cow for a butter ad! :eyez: It was quite amazing to find out how much we are assaulted with subliminal advertising.

Cool! Thanks for the tips!
As a slightly off-topic aside, I wanted to mention that I often find the overuse of foo-foo water (ie, cologne, perfume, etc.) is more off-putting to me than a slight natural body odor. I'm not talking about an every day amount, but lots of people seem to take a bath in the stuff. It's so heavy that it covers up the good natural smells as well as the bad, making the other person seem... synthetic.

True, after hard work a good drink is more refreshing, but most of the times these people don't seem to have been working. More like dancing or someting. Or just being really hot in the city. But, it seems to glorify it all.
If I made one of those types of commercials, it would be for Autumn. It'd be like,
"This is summer. It's hot, it's sticky, it sucks. Don't you want a nice, crisp, refreshing autumn about now? Coming this October to your area."
(also, when I used to work labour for my brother-in-law, the last thing I wanted to do after toting stones around all day was have sex or be sexy. I'd make a b-line toward the bathtub.)

I don't mind sweat, when I shower in the morning and get sweaty in the afternoon it doesn't bother me at all. Hell, when my SO gets sweaty I get turned on. Actually, you're right, it has more to do with linking sweat and dirt in the same category. I don't. Plain and simple, if I'm clean (meaning I've already showered that day) then I find sweat no more disgusting than anything else. In fact, the smell of clean sweat is quite the turn on. Linking sweat and filth together is completely unnecessary and, IMO prudish :bigblue:

 Yes, the shirt tug! it's like a staple in most videos i've watched.
i think that has now replaced the "girls around the pool" cut scene.
i always feel sorry for the rap video girls. they allways look as though there cattled around most of the videos. First scene is girl standing beside guy (possibly nodding her head. never sure what exactly shes agreeing with) then they cut to a solo girl scene doing a weird dance which the camera seems to love to emphasize on. then we cut back to the girl hanging all over the guy who is currently free styling (sometimes shirt tuging). sometimes this formula is done with quite a many girls, giving it the full "cattle" effect. . though i have to say, i have seen some rap videos that were actualy pretty clean (and came out way better because of it :smileroll ).

It is very, very sad how women are treated in the rap culture.
Though, I guess in some ways, they're getting money for it, and they're surrounded by a world of freedom for women and have the means to get out of it.

Yes, but then that leads to regular women being treated like that for no price at all.

True.
But, really, how far can we go to right the misdoings of others by blaming it on outward influence?
Just about anything can be blamed on someone else doing it.

The reason it can be partially blamed is because it promotes an atmosphere that 'Women LIKE being treated like this' and works to set in motion the underpinnings that this type of behaviour is acceptable.
Seeing the poor treatment of women on Television doesn't necessarily make someone run out and do it, what it DOES do is set in motion the small idea that women do, in fact, enjoy being treated in this manner.

And usually it IS blamed on somebody else, whether it was their fault or not. But, I'm not asking everybody to blame rap music and such...I want them to put an end to it altogether.

Just the thought of the guy, who is probably a really clean guy, on that billboard all hot and sweaty, coming up to me to give me a hug and kiss after a hard day just reall turns my tummy. He could at least take a shower. Now, that's sexy, when a guy comes out of the shower with wet hair and soft, clean skin. Mmmmm. :bigredblu

I agree that this is the case for most younger people, they're still naive and it's not hard for them to believe things that they don't know about.
