View Full Version : Gemstone Healing
Myst
August 15th, 2001, 03:15 AM
How have you used gemstones to heal yourself or others? Have you used them to help align your chakras, or just like "laying of hands" but with stones instead? Have you tried that therapy where you have warm stones placed on your back and/or massaged in? Have you even just used a gemstone to access positive energies for healing and concentrated to heal others?
Comments, questions?

Incidentally, it's been mentioned that amethyst is good for healing. Probably good for clearing up that negative energy (like it's good for clearing negative energy off tools you leave on an amethyst bed). It's also a good focusing tool of energy, which is why one of my best friends often gets a headache around it, and why it tips my wand.
Rose quartz is always good for loving, healing energy.
Hematite is said to be good for healing blood problems as well as for grounding.
Stones coordinated by colour to each chakra are said to be good as well.

Not really sure if this falls into this category, but Mol and Dravin have used stones or rocks from our yard to do energy work. They were basically running the stone over the body and absorbing negative energy into the stone. Afterwards they took the stones outside, said a little thank you and smashed the rock with a hammer, sending all the negative energy out to be carried away by the wind....it was really kind of neat. The stones got very hot and they really shattered into dust at the end.

I think so. That's fascinating, I've heard that technique before but never known anyone to apply it and have it work. It closely mirrors the spell of concentrating all your angry energy on a stone (you can scream, yell, cry, let out all your feelings) and then whipping it out into a field or moving water. Very therapeutic; it helps you deal with anger or depression so you can move on.

Amethyst is totaly amazing.
i was doing a session on my mothers back and when i placed the amethyst on here back and started , my hands were boiling and she felt an amazing amount of movement in that area.
I hear that bloodstone is also good for healing, especially the base chakra.:)
Myst
August 16th, 2001, 01:38 AM
I can see that, especially since the "blood" in bloodstone, as well as the colouring.
Amethyst is LOVELY stuff. I have a big chunk of it and a smaller polished stone as well.

Excellent, what stone do you recomend for the crown chakra?
Myst
August 16th, 2001, 01:49 AM
Depends on the usage, IMHO. Generally quartz can be used for cleansing, amethyst for healing. Other stones may be chosen according to intent - ie. using intuition, gaining wisdom, getting rid of a headache, meditating, etc.

I also have a book with a nice technique.
Take a piece of amethyst and go outside in the sun, hold the amethyst above your head and visualize energy going through the amethyst down into your crown chakra right through u and into the ground.
Wonderful for clearing yourself.:)

Way back when I first started Astrology , and the correspondences, I fell in love with the idea that the gems and stones and minerals and salts could have "like energies" and qualities of the
signs and planets the were associated with , and could be used for astrological healing.
So when you see that amethyst is the stone for .....Aquarius which is ruled by Uranus the planet of a higher mental plane...... and the sixth and seventh Chakras.... it is easy to see how it can be used for healing, and I have been researching alternative healing (what a NICE way to stay quietly and professionally in the closet as well ) for many years.
I love Stones.... being an earth sign I feel them strongly . I wear two large emerald earings for protection and grounding ......, and I try to incorporate other stones in my jewelry for "magical" purposes depending on how I am feeling and what is needed. Lapis is one of my all time favorites, as well ......as is Rose Quartz. I am going to love this thread .... have any of you worked with charging crystal grids ?

At last a thread to discuss my loves! :)
Swan Im an Earth sign too (capricorn) and never realised that we are more attuned to them because of this? Can you tell me more?
The charging crystal grids sound very interesting too ~ I have heard about them but can remember what they are for or how to to work with them.. Please again, can you tell more!
Mythril and Willow ~ Ive been loving your comments! :)
I have a large collection of Crystals scattered around my house, in my yard and mainly on my altar ~ Moonstone, Amythest, Quartz, Rose Quartz, Jade, Bloodstone, Carnelian, Jasper, Onyx, blue, red and noraml Tigers eye.. and a few more...
I mainly use them for layouts for the chakra's and for opening up the back muscles ~ Ive got a really good book with diagrams and picutres that I follow ~ I will bring it with me tomorrow!
I use Amythest mainly! as its great for all cleansing and types of pain.. but I also love the warm, calming loving energy of Rose Quartz, Rodertendrite (spelt wrong I know!) and Tourmaline. & I use Moonstone for my moon time every month ~ its a very femine stone good for everything to do with womens troubles ;)

Theres a few small ones for your head and base chakra's which would be easy to put together as they dont use so many different and expensive Crystals.

Not entirely to do with healing but It is sortof relevant.
Placing a Crystal in front of or ontop of your computer monitor will reduce radiation from the screen.
I find Quartz the best for this.
Pluss Rose Quartz could help bring some love into your office etc.
Besides the fact that Crystals suposedly absorb some of the radiation they are also pleasing to the eye

As well, remember that your CPU has a crystal at its heart. Crystals placed about your pc/desk can work in conjunction with your CPU. CPU's do get used to the interaction of one person; I had a lover once who's pc I could not use; everytime I did, he'd have to replace the CPU chip ~ my energy and the CPU crytal's energy did not mesh!!

Interesting Mairwen, I never really thought about that. Food for thought!!!
I use crystals individually just to carry around for specific healing, or in layouts to clear my chakras and balance them. I have also used them on healing altars when doing distance healing or candle magick/healing. There are so many uses I can't even think of some of them now! hehe
Looking forward to this discussion,

Thanks for sharing Silv! :) I keep several stones around too - moonstone, amethyst, quartz, rose quartz, hematite, tigers eye (I think when they are blue or red they're sometimes hawk's eye or cat's eye or some other derivative... no?), citrine, etc. I wear a rainbow moonstone and sterling silver moon pendant all the time now for that feminine energy.
I'm also a capricorn! I think that might have to do with how our sign is so deeply rooted in the earth, and from the earth stones come. Often, as well, gemstones are used to represent earth. Just an idea.

Absolutely!!! I love citrine!!! I often put it under my pillow with Amethyst and several other different stones depending on my problems to help when I have insomnia or some reason I'm not sleeping well. I will also carry/wear it for headaches. I love it, it's such a nice "feeling" stone. But then, I love yellow/gold stones, they have a warm energy to them.

As to the Earth signs being attuned to stones,,,,I do beleive that is highly likely, as we are OF that element ,as water signs are drawn to water. I dont think it is a coincidence that we adrawn to the stones that are attuned to our signs, but then I dont think there are ANY such things as coincidences either ....., have any you read or used the Love Is In The Earth Series"? by Melody..... so much really good information.
And by Crystal Grids .. I mean a pattern laid out for a specific healing purpose aligned with a compass and aimed at someone for healing .... I did that for my friends husband who has cancer.
You charge the grid with a meditaion....and/or even a ritual, and leave it in place to continue the work :>. It doesnt have to be large , but who has hours of time to sit and do a healing every day ? They are wonderful :> and effective .

I find it enormously calming and grounding,
I guess that would be because of the origin , but it is also one of the "warm family" of stones :>

Is the fossilised resin or tree sap that has been used since ancient times for jewelry , and for magical and spiritual purposes.
I doint think the fact that there was a in sect in it would hurt, I think it would help, but then I always say...... use what the goddess provides, and some of my very best workings have been done using nothing but "beach leavings" such as shells and driftwood and stones ( I live at the beach .. going to take a splash today later on :> ) and leaving NO TRACE of ever having been there .
Was a magical working I will not forget ..... the wind rose.... I had a green bottle in my hand to use to hold sea water and the wind began playing music fromthe mouth of th bottle , and I just danced and sang to the music the wind played ....
So use the amber .....by all means . I have a

Thanks SV! I love RainbowCrystals, they have a lot of great info there. I am looking at a piece of kyanite online at the moment, and stumbled across it looking for kunzite! haha Interesting you mention that it has to be cleansed often, one description said that you never have to cleanse it (not that I believe that! haha) Funny how some people vary with their opinions on these things.
Mythril, here's an article and a pic on Kyanite.
http://www.rainbowcrystal.com/crystal/gems/kyanite.html
Regarding AMBER:
I have a beautiful amber necklace in filigree that I bought for my debutante ball many years ago. It has a warm uplifting feeling to it.
Some of the things my favourite book say about amber is that it's "especially helpful when feeling weighed down with responsibilities. Good for people with suicidal tendancies and those who easily get depressed."
I have used amber in the past during bouts of depression and it is a real uplifting energy, but you have to be careful to cleanse it often as it will get a cloudy look if it absorbs too many negative energies from you.
"Creates a balance between daily life and spiritual expansion... has a positive effect on the endocrine system, spleen and heart, and has a healing, soothing, harmonising influence... Worn as jewelry it can be grounding and stabilising. When used at the solar plexus, amber will enhance intellectual clarity about your future path."

is such a nice term for Amber! I used to say something similar about Goldstone ~ that the sun was shinning out of it.. with all its sparkles! and the stars were shinning for Blue Goldstone.
Lilu ~ Yeah that is funny!! I am pretty certain it does soak up all the negative energy because I read it somewhere and can also feel it getting heavier as the month goes on (I cleanse most of my stones every full moon).. I find it helps allot to cleanse it but I guess with everything in life ~ its each to there own! Its a great Crystal for meditation and especially for female energy I sense from the stone (my bf doesnt like it much!), you should get it if it found you ~ even if it was a twinkle on the net ;)
(I always get Crytals that catch my eye and twinkle to me (if I can afford them!).. they are saying something to you!)

I found a very strange quartz crystal in a big pile of normal clear quartz crystals. It has a purple-ish tint to it. . . anybody have any theories as to how that happened? the tint is stronger in the clear part of the crystal than at the base. And it's only just enough to make you notice when it's next to a white/clear quartz crystal. I've heard of quartz in things like orange and such, I just wonder about purple hehe
P.S. I bought it. . . it was so rare-special looking that I had to hehe, plus I only paid $.50 ^^; dang expensive Cali

Actually you can think of amethyst as purple quartz. A chemical reaction/the addition of a new chemical (I can't remember which) results in the purple colour. Thus yours probably almost became an amethyst.

This one is really lovely I think because I love Pink Quartz
In the centre is the hearts conrer stone ~ Rose Quartz for self love and compassion. Surrounded on four sides by the healing energy of Green Aventurine with Small Pink Tourmaline wands placed inbetween them for the expansion of love.
Five pink and Green Tourmaline pieces cover the upper chest for the hearts expression into words at the thoart chakra.
Kunzite rests below the green Aventurine to activate the heart chakra and either side is grounding Rhodonite.
A gem quality Rhodochrosite is placed on the solar plexus point to bridge the loving heart energy into the navel centre.

Root Chakra big time here!
Below the navel reside a true red Realgar cluster with a deep red Carnelia cabachon directly below it to stimulate the creative energy of the second sexual chakra.
To either side are smaller more orange Carnelian cabs.
Small double terminated Quartz crystals accentuate the power of these stones. Beneath the middle Carnelian is the natural Garnet crystal accompanied on each side by Red Jasper to ground the creative energies.
A Realga cabachron sums up the red stones and is charged by two clear Quartz generators on each side.
Three red flecked Bloodstones lie beneath here to recieve the energy.
Hazkeye is directly below grounding healing energies directly into the body.
To activate the base chakra Smoky Quartz rests on each groin point.
Large dark green Tourmaline wands are found above and below these to channel the energy into the body to strengthen the physical system.

I was just reading about how gemstones can help one's health, so I want to find my big hematite worry stone or buy another one. Hematite is good for kidney problems, and it might help my mine. :)

I've doen quite a bit of meditation/healing with gemstones. I find that accessing the higher realms, work better with healing. I use Amethyst, Ruby, Quartz and Moss Agate stones, bound in Copper and Silver to heal as well as for amplification of meditational vibrations. It something that takes a getting used to, being that the vibrational frequencies of Ruby and Quartz combined, can be a bit overwhelming. Hope it helps...
Blessings

Flower Essences and Vibrational Healing - By Gurudas = this is a good one!!!

Actuslly, Ive tried working with stones but don't notice any difference for healing. I can feel diiferences in the energy of different stones, but cant seem to harness them.
