mine is just a boring black book with words inside. a notebook without lines. ._. it is so boring and i need ideas for it, hehe :p and i'm wondering what everyone else is doing!

if you don't feel comfortable sharing your grimoire, that's fine. no hard feelings! :D just come and look at ze pictures of the beautiful grimoires... which will be here eventually :p

Here are pictures of the books I use. I tend to separate different subjects into different books. Inside is all handwritten with a few drawings that i've done as well. Nothing too interesting, mostly just writing. All pages are tied in so I can change the order if I need to.

I have a rough notebook that I write stuff down in first and then I write it in my books neatly in calligraphy.

The leather book I bought in Peru from a boy of about 7, he made it himself and I love it.

try going to this site. i love the look of the pages this person creates, and i try to do mine in a similar style. the stuff isn't really that hard to draw.

Welcome to the Home of Winged Horse Productions and Star Dust Designs! (http://www.ladypegasus.com/)

also, for titles, i use the computer font endor. i go to paint, type my title, reverse it (where it reads backwards, so when you transfer it, it'll be going the right direction), print, and then turn it face down in my book, rub the back of it with a sharp point of some sort to transfer the letters, and then trace over it in my book in my chosen color. you can use any font you like. i do this because my handwriting's awful, and i can't do pretty letters, but i feel the trouble's only worth it for the titles. makes a huge difference. i'd post pictures, but i don't have a digital camera... yet. i've been begging though. :)

that site's way interesting, hehe :p her artwork is not bad at all, but i like how she's decorated the pages. interesting method of transfering stuff, btw! i've never transfered stuff, amazingly, hehe :p i'm sure your book is beautifl, be sure to give us a picture when you can! :D

I can't draw, so it is hard for me!! I've almost bought some of her stuff before on Ebay but I got outbid!
My BOS is nothing more than a black 3 inch binder with my pages in it. I spent a better part of the morning printing out some pages on Hekate.

I have a binder I'm using for a BOS, I posted in the other thread(magic and rituals forum I think) with a picture...I'm debating about just switching it back to the plain old black flopper binder though. It's just so...conspicuous, y'know? not to mention inconveinent for carrying around...

for my book of reflection(dunno if I'll actually title that or something else :p ) I found this in Sam's Club the other day and *knew* I had to have it. It's black, with wood covers, and leather binding, and silver gilded pages. Plus a ribbon bookmark thing and a rubber-band snap to hold it closed. And it was only $11.99. I looooooove it *hugs book* It has some 200-odd pages too I believe. Trying to debate what to put in the first entry.

these are mine....i just re-did these so that they were in a better binder than the old one (had Springfield College plastered across the front) and bigger....the decoration on the front are scrapbooking paper slipped into the front pocket, i'm not done with them yet, i have some things to add to the paper :)

my other musings book is one that was given to me, it's from barnes and noble, with the embossed tree on the cover.

OOOOOO! OOOOOOO! Pretties! I just have to share mine. I LOVE mine! *hehe* The one on the left is my BOS while the one on the right is what I write the rituals that I've done, any tarot readings, I recording the date and time, moon phase, etc. I also have a journal for recording feelings regarding my spirituality and such and I have another one that I record strange occurrences that dont seem to be tied to anything. There's a few of those. :crazyman:

LOL! I bought the pentacle one about 3-4 years ago at Wings Metaphysical here in Denver. I dont think they exist anymore. It was $85, I think. The cat one I bought at Spirit Wise in Littleton and it was $120. I've only seen them carry this one, but I"m sure you could order one. They have lay-a-way. That's how I bought my Puck Garden Statue.

Connie or Sandy should be able to help you. They are both so awesome. There are some other stores too. I dont know what ones you've been to. But like I said, Spirit Wise does have lay a way so it makes things alot easier for me when something yells at me. That's what Puck did. And the cat book. It was well worth the money, IMO. Its perfect for me. :floating:

Are there any cheap, wooden books out there that you can add papers to? I'm looking for something better than my black binder and I want something different whenever my other BOS finally comes in. Something that can fit a couple hundred pages and where I don't have to re-punch any holes?

Edited to add: something preferably 8x10 or larger!

anyways, the first (and main) one is a folder which I decorated with paper and bay leaves, and the 2nd is my Triquetra one that I got a steal for on Ebay. This one I haven't put anything in yet, but I wanna put really nice parchment stuff in so I can hand it down :0)

My Book of Shadows (or maybe its a Grimoire, as it doesn't contain any diary in it at all - just reference material) is a 3 ring binder, which I covered in blue, white and grey starry material.

Okay, the pictures I have uploaded are not the best, but you get the idea of my BoS. Oh, at the time of taking those pics, the Study was in disarray.

No, I bought a metre of that material, cut it to size, and glued it on. On the inside where it joins I have dark blue ribbon to hide the joins, which is carried over to act as borders, along the natural creases of the file.

Oh and I don't recall actually taking that pic of me, but maybe it was taken some other time, and my BoS just happened to be lying around as well.

I'm all about practicallity, so taking a pic of my bos wouldn't be very inspiring. It's simple a black zippered binder with any number of pockets, and folders in it. I can completely close it and therefore make it more private. I have a variety of pens and papers shoved inside because I'm partial to designing sigils. They don't require too much fuss.Wheeeee.....

hee hee hee. Silly Cerise.....Gaia21 & I actually work in the same office!

My BOS is a plain old black 3-ring binder, too. Unorganized, not very full....just couldn't see buying a spendy one just now. But, hey....it might not be pretty, but it's functional......I have that, a black spiral I use as a journal, and composition book as a "portable BOS", and a little mini-notebook I bought at Target to use as a formulary for various things....

I just printed out a cover page for my BoS. Thanks, AuroraSilvermist, for the Jonathon Earl Bowser artwork link!! The program I used to make it won't let me save my work in an uploadable file. But this is the picture I used. I added "Book of Shadows" in almost cursive writing in the center, where the waterfalls are. I'm planning on working on some subject dividers later today!

I'm with Cerise... It's gorgeous!

I've got to get a digicam!!! *sigh* My rindbinder is plain black with a collage on the front done with various types of paper. A silver pentagram with an outline of dark purple that I dipped in PVA glue to give the appearance and feel of wax... it looks like a seal :D It's a bit fragile but once I've finished designing the back etc. I'm going to cover the whole thing in clear plastic. :)

I have a correspondence book that's covered in red paper and decorated with Theban words on the cover and has a picture on each of the inside covers. One of a cat and the other a pentagram with runes... I drew both of them :)

But for the first one I have all my stuff written up, but I just have to go in and do the drawings/illustrations/scrapbooking/collage stuff. I'll have to see if I can get it scanned to show pics... I'm making mine on my Word processor... a little bit at a time every day. I plan to get a printer and binder and decorate the binder. I'm still collecting some clip art for the pages but it's so hard to find any. After I print out everything I need I'm gonna put it together and... um... initiate my BOS into my life. I wanted something simple, but something that I can change around if I need to. ( I know me... it'll probably happen too often. ) I have a journal that I write in now, but I am going to transfer that into the binder when I get a chance. Already I wnat the pages in a different order, but I can't take them out!

Anyways.... What beautiful books you guys! If my mind didn't change every other day about how I want things arranged, I could get a simmilar book. It'd be a waste of money for me.

I just spent the last week working on mine and I went from using a 1 inch binder to filling out a 2 inch one. I need a 3 inch and maybe bigger. Here is my collection. The black and white binders are mostly for storing information that I have obtained either from books or the web.

The one w/ the moon and stars is more of a journal of thoughts and beliefs. The purple velvet book with the dragon on it is for writing down spells, rituals, how I celebrated a holiday and receipes I have created. I also use it to record special times (such as a blue moon or a full moon on halloween).

Bwa! Look how simple it is! XD It's just a simple floppy plastic binder full of lined paper. I decorated it with three colored ribbons as a sort of makeshift tassle- orange for creativity and strength, pink for love and tranquility, black to absorb negativity. Additionally, since I found it to be such a floppy mess, I punched two holes in the side and tie it shut with a white ribbon to lock in wisdom and purity. It does it's job.

It's a sort of modified runic that my friend Sarah and I use, partly because so many kids are teaching themselves runic because they saw it in LOTR and they want to be trendy and we don't want them reading our runes, and partly because we just learned it wrong and keep doing it that way cuz it works for us...

I do have to say I'm sick of people calling it "code"

My biology teacher: *looks over my shoulder* "Ooooooooh... is that a special code!?"
Me: "No! X/ They're called 'runes' and it's an ancient alphabet."
My biology teacher: *no longer caring* "Oh, okay."

Jess: "Hey, I like your code, that's cool. Will you teach it to me!?"
Me: "It's not a code... they're called runes. And my friend Sarah and I like to keep them between us."
Jess: "So it's a secret code, eh?"
Me: "It's NOT a code!"
Jess: "Whatever."
*days later*
Jess: "Hey, I found your secret alphabet on the internet last night."
Me: "It's hardly a secret. X/"
Jess: "Yeah, not anymore! XD"
Me: ">.>... *sharpens butcher knife*"

Okay, that last bit was a bit of an exaggeration. It was actually a small hunting knife. -_^

I am still putting my BOS together. Right now I just have a couple of things jotted down on paper and a few things in my computer. I would like to get a nice book or binder where I can put everything in. I think a binder will be a more practical choice so I can move things around.

Quick question....do you have a separate book for a journal to record dreams, tarot readings, etc.? :caffeine:

i have a journal that i write about EVERYTHING in.. because i've really found that what happens in my magickal life (dreams, readings, etc) directly corresponds with what's going on in my mundane life.

You can see the kind of books I make by going to the arts & crafts forum and looking at the thread *Spell Book Beginning*. These were made for a round robin in the craft forum and are not for sale. I will eventually add the item to my website. Just wanted to share the pics. The books are not assembled in the pictures, what you will see is the covers to all the books. I will be posting a picture of an assembled book later this week. I am giving the stain time to cure nicely before I add paper to the books.

Hi everybody! I just wanted to add a picture of my new BoS...

The blue notebook (1 1/2 in 3 ring) is full of notes and handouts given to me in the Women's Mysteries class my HPs does. The brown journal is my new Book of Shadows...I just got it Thursday, but it has been cleansed, consecrated, and blessed (I consecrated it and then wrote down a formal blessing inside). Now I'm just trying to get everything organized before I start writing stuff in it.

Yes I have a separate book for those... My "main" BoS is for all the major reference stuff, like the Charges, correspondances, the elements, symbolism, holidays and pages in honor of my deities. The day to day stuff goes into a separate journal that's more freeform, with no real organization. :)

Not preaching Christianity, but thought I'd share what I have:

I have a Virgin Mary Nightlight. Call me crazy, but I feel she helps protect me and I feel my house may be haunted so that's part of it, plus it is relaly pretty and a good deal. I have a small resin statue of the Archangel St. Micahel by her next to my window. I also have a small standing cross of the holy trinity. I have a relic which is a dried rose form a Deominican order touched to the true cross. I also have these stained glass sticker htings that are cirular and tiffany inspired. I may soon put up mine of the holy spirit and divine mercy. I have a small resin statue of Jesus for divine mercy as well.

I have three types of Bibles. My NIV has footnotes and an index and references. I had King James, but grr with him lately. I ahve my St. Ignatius after I found that the Cahtolic bible has more books. I tend to read to St. Ignatius one then go to my NIV for references.

Though I am not Jewish, I have a Meuzzahon my wall. Its not too fancy, just brown wood with the symbol. I have a glow in teh dark rosary hanging on it as well.

For me as well:
I have a rosary of dried roses form Jeruselam that is blessed there. I may have it blessed by a preist too. I have a cross I often wear that is a glow in the dark crucifix. On the back, there is a vile of holy water from Lourdes and holy earth from Jeruselam.

I also have this Mary plastic holder that stnads and it neat like a statue. It has holy water blessed by Pope John Paul II

I have oil scented of frankensyth and myrr too. Its not blessed, but its more the symbolism for me.

When I do a rosary (not as often as I should probably sadly) I put a dab of the oil on my forehead. then, I use the holy water and do the sign of the cross adn the trinity saying.

I have a divine mercy cahplet too. I also have a stages of the cross one as well.

I may get a small St. Therese statue sometiem as well.

*********************************************

sorry I read it wrong. I thought BOS meant something I didn't now, now I realize its book of shadows. I thought this was about your altars and ritual supplies sorry :)

My Book of Shadows is just a black binder right now. But inside I've got some fancy pages, I do calligraphy so I've got a title page in the pocket (Book of Shadows) and a table of contents-- both of which I've done gothic writing on paper turned yellow with a teabag.

I really like the fancy books but my problem is that I can't increase/decrease/change the position of any of the pages. I never know where to put things so I won't run out of room in one section or another. So this will work for now.

I have a few right now, and I am working on compiling parts from all of them into a scrapbook.

My regular reference BOS is just an archive sized binder (4 1/2 inches I think) that I covered with a piece of fabric and added a pentacle I made out of sculpey. I don't have a pic at the moment, but I'll post one this week.

I also have a journal, that I use for random musings. I bought it at the ren faire. You can see it here (http://www.oberondesign.com/store/buy.php?item=118&color=saddle). I got it from a different company but they didn't have that particular one on thier site.
