View Full Version : All gods are one God?

This has probably been asked a hundred times over, but for the benefit of those who weren't around for those threads I thought I'd ask it again.
I remember when I first became interested in Wicca, one of the things that came up time and time again is that "all gods are one God, all goddesses are one Goddess". To be honest, at the time I didn't think much of it, I was interested in learning more and more new information rather then milling over the stuff I already knew. Now I'm at a point where I want to re-evaluate what I know and what I believe which is why I'm asking this question.
My question is two fold, do you believe "all gods are one God, all goddess are one Goddess" and why? Is that just what makes sense to you? Or do you have you done research? If it is just what makes sense, why does it make sense?

Well, in some ways, a lot of Gods and Goddesses are the same as others. For instance, most european dieties can ben linked to others.
I know that's not what you were asking, I'm just weird.
As for your question..yes, and no. Mostly no. I believe that they're all a manifestation of the same being, or idea, but that worship of one does not equate worship of another. I do not think someone will get into the Christian heaven by believing in Odin.
I think if someone believes in reincarnation, they will be reincarnated, as the dieties are ever ready to supply our religious needs.

Likewise will they go to the Christian heaven if that's their belief.

Okay, I'm just going to go a bit more into this.
I believe that what we think is our afterlife is what we deep down desire it to be.
I think that when we die, we will get whatever we expect. If we desire to keep living life after life until obtaining perfection, we will. If we wish to go to a place of joy and happiness for eternity, we will.
I think that what happens after our life here is a payment for what we've been through. 8O

Wow that's interesting. Do you believe that if a Christian believes s/he will go to hell for eternity that that's where they'll go?

I wondered about this too a while back. Where would I go if I believed I was going to hell? I dunno. I think that there have to be safety nets for these kinds of things... right?

I don't know Pol, that seems a little simplified to me. As far as any afterlife is concerned, I don't think it's a matter of "if you build it they will come", but I don't think it's as cut and dry as, if you a good christian you'll go to heaven everyone else will go to hell.

I thought of that as I was writing it, Arienh.
Frighteningly, yes. I think that if someone believes that is what they deserve, they will be get it.
I don't believe in Hell, but I believe that their belief will drive them to a life that is empty and depressing, and perhaps an afterlife to match. Maybe ghosts are people who had no thought of the afterlife when they died, so they went nowhere ;)
Bec W, it is pretty simple, but not everything has to be complex.

No, I don't believe that. It just doesn't make sense to me after I've considered all my expieriences.

I believe all gods & goddesses are facets of one divine entity, but I believe that they are all separate individuals as well. (The One and the Many. :) It's officially called monolatry.)

I believe that, too!
As for the Thread topic... LOL
Yes, I believe that all god/desses are one god or one energy vibration, or one divine, or whatever you want to call it, but I also believe that everything living is a part of that same essence. I do not believe I am a "goddess", but I do believe my soul is a piece of the essence that IS divine.

i suppose you could say that christians have judgement day. technically i think that is supposed to be when the world ends, (as you can probably tell i wasn't really for biblical teaching when i was younger) however, when i was a christian, i used to think that when i died god would talk to me about my life and what should happen to me.
i agree with...well lots of people, monolatry for me.
blessed be
