Although I can bring my many items with me, where would I be able to get cheap/inexpensive household items?

Such as: a mattress and box spring, tv stand, etc and so forth.

It's all appreciated!

Ikea, news papers, thrift shops, flea markets, you can probably get a night stand from Target.

Most furniture is highly over-rated. A cardboard box bottom up with a towel over it works just as well as any table. A couch can work just as well as any bed (If your not sharing it). I knew a guy who couldnt afford furniture but he had a *****load of books. His computer was on a desk made of a huge stack of books, his nightstand was a stack of books, his TV sat on a stand made of books. Basically, be creative, anything will work if you arent quite up on the financials.

Becare you don't get gipped while shopping in second hand stores. Sometimes their prices equal what you'd pay for new stuff. Also don't write off places like Walmart, it may not be the best place for furniture but you can (sometimes) get some good deals.

There's an online community dedicated to the free exchange of
unwanted items at www.freecycle.org . Anyone looking to dispose
of their old furniture, appliances, et cetera, can post a notice
on the local site offering it up to whoever wants it. It's
a fantastic program... it keeps perfectly servicable items out
of our landfills, and places them where they are needed most.
There may be a group in your area... it's worth looking into.

I don'y know if they have a freecycle in Canada... but do you have a Goodwill, Salvation Army, Catholic thrift store? You've got to have the equivalents there......
