View Full Version : Where does a natural witch fit in?

Where in the scheme of things does a natural witch fit in? I don't practice what many think of as Wicca so I'm not a wiccan per say, does that make me kind of a generic pagan??? Just trying to figure out exactly where I fit in. :(

Labels are nonsense, you fit in perfectly right where you are ...
... just be you.

Well I know several people who are interested in a very earthy wicca type twist tend to like the green witchcraft series.. there is three books. It is a diffrent look at wicca. Much more in depth and personal with the author.

Yvonne, no matter what you practice, believe, don't practice/believe, etc., you fit in here. :) Everyone who is tolerance, accepting and open to learning and sharing fits in here completely!

Hi Yvonne! Well, from one natural to another, I can tell you that there are a lot of people out there who don't understand. (No offense to anyone here) But there are many I have met that don't understand how you can teach yourself something without using a book, or being taught by someone. For me, I use research to accent what I naturally know.
A natural witch fits in where ever she or he wants to. In the pagan community, there should not be people who say that it's wrong to be a natural at anything. I would think that the pagan community would be very accepting of these gifts. Although I have to admit that there is a prevading reek lately of people who think that in order to be a witch or to practice paganism, one has to be taught or learn over years with one group or another. (Thank the divine, not in this community) My life experience has given me the knowledge that I use today. Know that you are not alone! There are tons of people out there who are naturals, and either repress it and block it out of their lives, or there are those who embrace it, and incorporate it into their lives.
So, Rock on sister! The Power lives in you and everyone of us!
Blessed Be!

hi Yvonne! i know exactly how you feel! when i began on my path i didn't have books or anything to learn from.
everything that i did i taught to myself following my intuition and instinct. and like Kaylara it was afterwards when i began to research into it a little more deeply i found many of the things that i self taught myself were written about and taught in the books i eventually read. i just call myself wiccan for the sake of people who ask what my path makes me, that's probably not the best solution but it's easier to explain in a way. :) *thinks* i guess i'd be more of a natural witch or green witch in all actuality..........hey thanks! :D you really helped me to take a good look at something that actually needed attention! but hey, teaching yourself saves you money on books in the long run! >) and it really doesn't matter what you are, it matters who you are and that you are comfortable with yourself! well, see you around the boards! i'm usually stumbling around here somewhere! i'm kind of computer illiterate and me and machines don't really get along so that's what i mean by stumbling :o......

I've been trying to figure this out for six years, and finally gave up. I'm *me* and it's all that counts. ^_^
I use the term 'Wiccan' loosely, or for people who would take what I explain as that anyway, but I don't like labels.

Out and about I have found a large number of people who are frightened by what I can do. They feel that it is abilities that only a "High Priest or High Pristess" should have. I haven't had that happen here which really does go a long way towards making me feel better. Last semester when I was in college I noticed that there was no support system for pagans that were solitaries. I began Paganpathways. It is going to be a support system for all views when we are done. Sadly enough I have trouble finding motivated people. When I first moved here I was with my ex pregnant and homeless. Welfare wouldn't help and charities said " ask your church" that's hard to do as a solitary. I formed it to build a system where we were all coneccted. I wanted people to be able to find what they needed from a friend to shelter. I still want this. I found that many of the groups we came in contact with laughed at me untill they saw me draw power then they were afraid. I do not use that power for any harm!! I do however pull a lot I guess. I have also found that in some cases I have shaken members belief in their coven because the higher ups couldn't do what comes naturally to me. It tends to hurt when those you thought you would be welcomed by shunned you. It has made me wonder where I fit so often and finding others like myself has been a nightmare. Far to often others stay hidden perhaps for the same reasons I have. It makes one lonely. Thank-you very much for coming forward and making me feel less alone and welcome it gives me a sense of home. The best term I can think of for my path would be a Heart Pagan because that is what I do. I follow my heart.

Yvonne, my Sweet, I would like you to consider this. I don't know how old you are, or exactly what you do practice, and the extent of your powers, but "natural" witches, in my opinion, are old souls, and what you think of as self-taught, and natural, is your power or your Gifts, or whatever you choose to call them, from the Before, finding you in the Now, and making themselves remembered. You are ready now. You probably were an HP or someone allowed to do sacred ritual, or maybe you were a self-taught kitchen witch, in a cottage in the woods, where the town's people rapped on your door during the night for potions and cures. We could probably figure it out, but does it matter? Go look at all the answers given to me, when I wrote Can I Trust the Magick, from these wise, and I think, mostly quite young (in years) community members. Their advice to me was very much on target. I just wanted to hear it from someone else.
In another life, or another time, we'd probably all be kneeling at the hem of your robe. Take a spirit journey, if you are so inclined, and ask to see yourself in different times. I think the answers are all within you and instead of looking outward for them, go inside the one person who doesn't have to hide her real name. That tells me a lot. One always recognizes a Goddess, no matter what Her form. Peace to you, Lady,
Selene
PS - do you know the term "Namaste?" It's Sandskrit or something, and means, roughly, "the Goddess in me sees the Goddess in you". Doesn't mean you are HER, or that I am; just that we recognize the spark of the Lady in each other. Namaste, Yvonne.

Total words of wisdom Selena..
And I would add...it does seem hard to grasp for some but the words of the "young" members are possibly the words of the "oldest."
And I know you know this.

Yep, Mol, age has nothing to do with it at all. Thus the expression,
"out of the mouths of babes", no?
On a different thread, if you don't stop calling me SelenA, I'm going to start thinking green and hoppy when I think of you. Ever wanted to be a horny Toad? <GRIN>
I answer to Selene, Momma, Hey You, but not SALINE (my "adult" children think it's funny) and while with enough Vaseline on the lens, I actually might pass for the deceased singer Selena, that's not my name. And if I told you my legal name, never, never, never, use it please. No threats, really, but being a hereditary GypsyWitch, sometimes my pointy finger just starts moving by itself, no matter how many years I've spent training it to keep to the light. Too much of my Momma in me. Daughter of the Daughter of the Daughter, and all that, LOL.
Does anyone ever call you Molly? You are younger than my youngest child, and I think you're pretty sage......should I disappear now?
Still in Mourning, but better, SelenE

LOL! Well, I think I will chalk that up there as the worst typo I ever made.

Selenelucina I want to thank you for what you said. It has been very hard for me to fit in anywhere. The whole community has opened it's arms to me making me feel welcome. I love the fact that I am not alone here as I have been so many times before. I tend to use as little of my gifts outside of my home as possible I hope that the acceptence everyone has given me will help give me the confidence not to hide quite so much.

Dear Yvonne, I am new to all of this too. I still don't really know where you get magic names or whether a witch is a wiccan or a wiccan is a witch. To me, all are natural. The only ones that are not are the plastic keys that I am punching now, even they make me wonder when the screen goes away. (Auto shutdown from internet) But, I guess that keeps me on my toes.
I do also wander how I knew what I knew. I taught myself as Kaylara and enwyn. Now, I'm here. I'm still a little unsure, but who is not with new paths?
To give my light to you I tell you this, there is no greater thing than nature. There is also no greater joy than life. Live it up. Be you and not a name. I, myself, am Lynx (because I love the animal) child at heart. Wisdom to me comes from your soul, not the mind alone. The soul is connected to the great Mother of all beings. That to me, is why one can know without being shown or taught here on this earth.

Yvonne, there is far too much focus on labels. Do what you do, be who you are. What you choose to call yourself is your own concern, and remember most of us are solitaries, and all of us are pagans. As to which witch is which??? Who can say Hee,hee ;)

Mol, I apologize for losing it yesterday, about being called Selena. I suppose it's a compliment when someone asks "were you named for her?" when she wasn't even a twinkle in her daddy's eye while I was an adult already, but maybe someday I'll share exactly why I'm called Selene, and how very much it means to me.
So I ask your forgiveness for being a such a twitch, even if it was in jest (sort of), and in grief (definitely), and give thanks for all the wonderful work you've done already in your life, on this site, & for inviting me to belong. And I give you a Gypsy Blessing: A miracle is going to happen to you today.
It's up to YOU to decide what that miracle is, and it's hardly ever the Prize Patrol at your door, but if you repeat it to yourself now, every morning, every day becomes a miracle itself.
Walk with Her in Peace,
Selene ( LOL :seh -leen)
And Yvonne, everyone has given you such good advice. Sift through it all, and you'll know what's right. Quick warning: Very few who have done the requisite studying for the different levels of various traditions, and have "titles" given by the P, HP, or their
groups, will never believe in "natural" witches. YOU have nothing to prove to anyone. And should you choose to do this kind of studying, stay away from the Great Rite. A lot of the covens don't allow you to "dance with the one that brought you". Not good.

I love the mysticwicks boards ... they are very squishy indeed.
Everyone's so supportive and lovely (even to me, who constantly posts the irrelevant and downright stupid).
Thanks to mol and semele for the opportunity to enjoy the supportiveness I always *thought* I'd get in the Pagan community...
