MM Waterraven;
Basically, IMO, the Maiden/Mother/Crone is the triple aspect of the goddess.
You can see the Maiden as the young girl, a teenager if you will. The light side of the Goddess.
The Mother, would be a slightly older woman, middle age for example.
The Crone, would be the wise old woman. the dark aspect of the Goddess
That's just the basics. Certain Goddess can resemble each of the aspects and go by different names. For me, personally, Rhiannon is the dark side. I see Brigit as the Maiden, though some see her as the Mother aspect or all three.

are Archetypes, each representing a fase of the year and moon and life. You are a madien once you get your period, a mother once you give up your virginity, a crone once you stop having your period. The madien is the waxing moon, the crone the waning, and the mother the full moon. The Goddess is the madien from Candlemas til Beltane, the Mother is the mother until Mabon, and The Crone is the Crone until Samhain. From Samhain to Candlemas, she is the enchantress, the new moon phase and the Forth archetype, mostly unknown.

So depending on yours 'activities' you could be a mother before being a maiden. :rolleyes:
And i still wish we could have a word other than 'crone' - it has such awful connotations over here!
