This is a debate I've heard before, but not here on Mystic Wicks (so long as I've seen, anyways).
So. Do you belive? In what? And why?
Vampires? Blood-sucking or the energy-zapping varaity?
Were-creatures: astral or physical?
Anything else? Name it! Tell us why! I'm curious! hehe
(that and it's 3:30am and I'm doing housekeeping so I can go out tommorrow and I'm bored to death waiting for the water heater to heat up again so I can finish the dishes :bad: )
Lemmie know what you all think!

i believe in ALL possibilities in the astral.
for me, the astral plane is the manifestation of all energetic projection in the universe. it is unlimited in physical space since it's not actually physical, and it's appearance is soley based on each person's own interpretation of the energy patterns that make it's "substance".
keeping this in mind, all of the many creatures and mythological beings can easily be energetically represented on the plane, since believing is often "seeing" in matters of the astral.
on a personal note, i've had my share of battles and conflicts with astral vamps and other.. "undefined things".
i don't believe there are any REAL vampyres and whatnot. there are indeed people that crave/drink/etc blood, but they aren't undead. that just doesn't happen (unless you can prove me wrong nothing anyone can say will make me feel otherwise).
i do, however, believe in psychic vampires, although i hate using the word vampire (because of it's attachment to the undead monster myth). I will admit though, that someone using techniques to drain energy/lifeforce from another person against their will/without consent to the point of injury and pain is indeed a "monster" or sorts.

Well said, Lucidia! :) This goes for me too.
I believe there are some people who do this sort of energy/life force draining deliberately and I would definititely classify them as a type of monster. Human monsters are worse than anything you can find under your bed.
I have met people who do this unconsciously, though, and I wouldn't classify them as monsters. Some people are just so needy and/or psychicly (sp?) ill that this taking of other's energy simply happens because of the strength of their need. Rather sad, really.

Lucidia ...... but I am glad you did, because that is my true feeling......and sometimes I reign in some of the feeling so it doesnt appear too intense but thank YOU !
I do think that anyone who would do so , or even think they were doing so is a monster, not to mention they have really bad boundaries .
People who think they can USE other people to act out their dramas, as in some kind of weird possession ??? or take their energies for their own use and .....for their own purposes are vampires, or have serious delusions , or possibly both.
That energy has a really (and I dont use this word often) "evil ":bad: feel to it , when its conscious knowledge of gross manipulation of another person, without their knowledge or consent. To even think that you could do this is such a perversion of the use of energy, that it is sad to think that someone would be in such a mental state, and be under this kind of delusion.
As uncomfortable as it is to think so, I suppose there are some people who are parasitic in nature , like natures vampires the mosquito, and other parasites.... EWWWWW.
Psychologically , I think this has the dynamic of extreme neediness , like a kleptomaniac, with something left over from childhood that was never resolved. Unfortunately , the abused often become the abusers, but see themselves as "taking what they need " because they are so grasping.
I dont believe in the "Vampire Myth" aka Anne Rice, tho I did find her early novels fun.
I have walked through that astral, and some of the things there truly best left undisturbed.

I know there is a disease that causes an incredible craving for human blood, without it the person becomes very ill.
As far as creatures and such, I am sure there are things in the Universe we as of yet have no clue about, even on this planet.
As far as bloodsucking ... there's always QWest ... oops ... that's a phone company,

I think my obsession with Buffy the Vampire Slayer gets the best of me, sometimes.. but I'd like to believe in Vampires, but only if they don't kill people, and they're incredibly good looking, like Spike. LOL I mean, sure, he's a fictional character, but that fictional character is the exactly thing I want my fantasy SO to be... beautiful, hard, cold (body temperature hehe), rough, tough and oh so yummy. :) I know.. I should seek therapy.

i think i might be one of the vampire types. I can suck up energy some one raises if i am in their circle. That count? I don't do it intentionally, and it only happended once, my first ritual. well, with someone else.

I agree with Lycia about anything possible. And have met things on both planes that would make one wonder.
As for psychic vampires or whatever you wish to call them, they exist sometimes they know they are like this soemtimes not.

I've never been too sure, I mean just because I can't see it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I do believe there are people that can drain you of happiness, love, patience and so on in your life......just rambling tho

I think the existence of vampires is one of those things that's kind of useless to speculate about. I mean, it's all very Goth and Romantic and all that, but the whole vampire thing seems very 80's to me.
I live in New Orleans, which is supposed by some to be the biggest vampire center outside of Transylvania, but all I've ever met is poseurs and people with fake teeth. They get tiresome after a while.
Just my opinion.

The truth about vampires has gotten overly romanticized and lost, somewhat like war has. Do true vampires exist? Well, they like to think so, and who are we to say?

I was watching Montel. Sylvia Browne wed's and she said creatures like the chubicaba exist but creatures like big foot only exist when we want them to. ( Ie: believe in it ) I don't understand how our minds can manifest something in living flesh.. I really don't get it. She was saying they are lower level creatures. So dispite what Sylvia thinks.. I do think all of these creatures are real. There have been so many sightings all over the globe. Im sure its not the EXACT same one every time.. Maybe they are breading and in hiding

I believe in Vampires. The blood-sucking and the energy-zapping variety.
Were-creatures: I believe that they can exist in the astral as well as the physical.

I've encountered someone I htink was a psychic vampire. I to my knoweldge haven't encountered the blood kind, but I feel it is possible and I belive in Lilith and cain was a vampyre etc.
I do not know of any shapeshifting to actual wolves were people, but I feel it is possible. I know animalism of werewolves is possible with people.

I believe that more things exsist than what our eyes have seen. I believe that the verbal memories of those from before us have been lost at times and there fore have changed in meaning.
As to were animals, Well it is believed that a shaman can take the form of his spirit animal therefore could that be a "were" or is that another animal of a another color.
I keep an open mind to all things on this earth, I believe that in time the magik will return and more will be seen than is seen now.
Astral is another world, there so many thing s exsist that are NOT supposed to exsist that you would and could question your sanity, therefore I just believe that it is possible if not probable.

I've never encountered an energy/psi vampire, but I can accept them as a definite possibility. The undead creatures? No. Were-creatures that actually physically change into something else? No. I don't know much about the asral plane because I have no interest in it, so I can't really comment on anything to do with it.

I believe in both sanguine and psychic vampires, but obviously, not in your classic hollywood type of vampire.
Werecreatures, if you're going by the physical-shifting kind like something out of a horror movie, than no, I don't believe in those either.
If you mean therianthropes than yes. A therianthrope is one who has a spiritual connection with an animal that goes beyond just an affinity. They identify with that animal to the point that they feel like inside they are either part or all animal. They are humans. They just feel that inside, they are part animal. Many feel as though they should be that animal but for whatever reason are in a human body rather than an animal's. Not all therianthropes are spiritual, even. Some are atheistic and believe therianthropy to be a mental condition. Either way, therianthropes are completely different from your classic Hollywood version of a werewolf/werecreature and most do not believe they can physical shift. Those that do are usually pretty fluffy.
