2001: A UEA Odyssey

September 21-23, 2001

Holiday Inn Select

Tulsa, Oklahoma

Of course with this being year 2001 and all, we

couldn't resist lifting the title of a well-known

movie produced in the late 60s. And consider - the

first United Earth Assembly, then known as Samhain

Seminar, was held only a few short years after the

release of Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey in

1968. Like the evolutionary vision of humanity that

Kubrick gave us over thirty years ago in 2001, we now

stand on the threshold of a new millenium that is

seeing incredible growth in earth religions and

Goddess awareness.

So come join us for the 28th annual United Earth

Assembly and celebrate the first harvest season of

this new millenium! Lets catch up with old friends

and make new ones, take in some great workshops and go

home with new knowledge. Come and participate in

inspiring rituals celebrating this harvest season.

Let's honor the path that those before us have forged

and talk about our visions for the future.

Where:

This year's UEA will be held in Tulsa, OK - a first! -

at the Holiday Inn Select at I-44 and Yale. They've

given us a special rate of $59 per night. Make your

reservations directly with the hotel before 09/07/01

and mention you're with UEA in order to receive the

special rate. Contact Holiday Inn Select, 5000 E.

Skelly Drive (I-44 & Yale, exit 229), 918.622.7000 or

800.836.9635. Bring your suit and enjoy the swimming

pool and whirlpool, rejuvenate at the fitness center,

wake up with the in-room coffeemaker and press your

ritual robe with the furnished iron and board. Bring

your laptop, plug it into the data port on the phone

and check out their web site at

http://www.sixcontinentshotels.com/holiday-inn?_franchisee=TULSD

and see what a great place this is!

When:

If the room and facilities weren't attraction enough,

there's an equinox festival going on too!

Friday: UEA registration begins at 5:00pm on Friday.

Sign up, put on a nametag, and drop off anything you

may have brought for the Silent Auction. Opening

ritual is scheduled for 8:00pm. Bring your drum,

guitar, flute, voice, and/or dancin' feet and stick

around afterwards. We'll have snack trays and music

and merry-making to start off the weekend right. And

oh yes, let the shopping begin!

Saturday: The workshops will begin Saturday morning,

with brunch being served mid-morning. Workshops

continue throughout the afternoon with the evening

buffet being served that evening. Vegetarians may

request a proper plated vegetarian meal in lieu of the

omnivore buffet. Main ritual, presented by Tulsa's

own Caerulea-Luna coven, promises to be a dynamic and

memorable event. After the ritual, and having had a

warm-up on Friday night, bring your talent to

demonstrate to all at the UEA Talent Show. (What do

*you* want to be remembered for?? ;-) Okay, maybe not

*that*?this *is* Oklahoma, and it's our first time at

this hotel, and we're actually supposed to be

well-behaved, right?)

Sunday: Sunday will find us finishing up workshops,

enjoying brunch (and caffeine of choice), conducting a

business meeting and proceeding with the Silent

Auction finals. Now is a good time to pick up those

fabulous goodies you've had your eye on all weekend

before the vendors start packing up. We'll end the

event and re-enter the mundane world with a closing

ritual.

What:

Registration: Registration includes all meals and

snacks, and participation in all workshops and

rituals. Registration received before 09/14/01 is $50

for the weekend. Registration after 09/14/01 is $60.

You may register at the door (cash only, please!), but

please drop a line to ueaok2001@yahoo.com or call

580.242.2060 or 918.599.7746 by 09/14/01 and tell us

how many meals you need to reserve and if any of those

are vegetarian meals.

Workshops: There are still a few slots open in the

schedule. If you have an area of expertise that you

would like to share, please contact the coordinators

with a description of your proposed workshop.

Rituals: The event will begin with an opening ritual

on Friday night, with main ritual being held on

Saturday evening. Closing ritual will take place

early Sunday afternoon, leaving ample time to travel

home and settle in before beginning a new week,

refreshed and renewed after a fabulous weekend!

Meals: Included with registration is all meals and

snacks for the weekend. Vegetarian fare is available

and must be specially requested. For all meals, we

must know of your intent to attend UEA by Friday,

Saturday 14, 2001. If we don't have you marked down

for a meal by then, we cannot include you in the meal

plan.

Silent Auction: Do you have some things that are

ready to go to new homes? Books you've already read?

Crafts you've made, tools you no longer use? If so,

bring them and donate them for the Silent Auction.

It's a great way to see your stuff off to good homes

and it helps keep the cost of festival registration

down. There are always some really neat things

offered. Be sure to check it out!

Talent Show: Yes, we're going to have a talent show

on Saturday after ritual, complete with prizes for the

three top acts! So start brushing up your talent now

and show us what you got!

Children: There is no provision for childcare at this

event. If you would like to host any children's

activities, please contact the coordinators.

Things to Know: Part of our step into the new

millenium is setting a good example and demonstrating

that we're not all those [not-so-nice] things that

more

closed-minded folk would say we are. With that in

mind, there will be no illegal substances allowed at

this event, and compliance with all Federal, State,

and local laws and ordinances are required;

non-compliance will result in ejection from the event.

The issue of legalities should answer any questions

about skyclad options as well. (There isn't one since

we're at a hotel.)

For more information: Write ueaok2001@yahoo.com ,

call Tiffany at 580.242.2060, Geary at 918.599.7746.

A website will be forthcoming soon; the URL will be

distributed via e-mail.

Happy Equinox! We look forward to seeing you at UEA

28!
