Oy! I know what you mean!!! :(
All I can say is stick with it, and time will help develop those skills. However, here is my experience that might help out. I am more of a clair-sentient person. I *feel* things better than I *see* them. So when trying to visualise something, I often start trying to "feel" things like they would be in the visualisation. Feel (imagining of course) the breeze in your hair if you're standing in a field. Put yourself into the picture through sensory. Feel the ground below your feet and so on.
I used to do this and eventually I'd find that as I began "feeling" all these things into a visualisation, I began to "see" them in my own way, and could interpret other sensations that showed up in the visualisation into whatever it was.
Don't know if this really helps, but know that some of us are stronger at *seeing* things, some better at *hearing* things, and some better at *feeling* things. And some people are lucky enough to be able to do all three!
Good luck!

It might help you to do exercises like gazing at an apple or orange, then closing your eyes and imagining it, and then doing this with more complex things. Soon you will be able to close your eyes and see the apple, feel the texture, smell it, and taste it, all at once. Just start out small and practice.

I have to agree with Lilu. Not everyone's primary sense is sight. Imagine how a person born blind would deal with magick if the only way to do things was visually. I can't imagine a world that single-minded. So try feeling, hearing, tasting, smelling, or even invent a few senses or combinations of your own. Belief and reception are the important parts. What senses those come by don't matter.
And when all else fails, try, try, and try again. Practice makes perfect. :) If we could do everything right the first time then there would be no need to learn anything.
