I found this site from an email list I'm on that has turned into the "how Bush hates Pagans" list.
http://www.democrats.com/display.cfm?id=220

What do you think? I try to stay out of politics, its too scary  for me.

Do you think this is true or not? Looking for info from the more politically minded.

Unfortunatley from what I seen & heard it is true about his stance vs. pagans he made it a major part of his campaign. Thats a major reason he had the Chistian coloition behind him so strongly. He vowed to take Witchcraft out of the militarys recognized religions, which would mean basically overturning it as a recognized religion.

He was quoted as supporting a baptist preacher in texas who did to marches against Witchcraft and the occult. One in front of a airforce base the other in front of a local pagan store. Thank the gods several local pagans in the area turned to support the store and it ended peacfully.

The preacher was quoted as saying "we were evil and that we eat our babies and drink thier blood." I can't remember the exact paper name it was the big huston papers I think 99.

I'm honestly very worried about his position in office at least clinton respected us as a religion. He made Wicca a fedraly recognized religion during his time in office.

There was also another case in the south which three high school kids were accused of killing three young boys in what the called a "satanic ritual" the only one put to death row was the one who studied Wicthcraft. which was used against him in court to convict him. There is also more evidence come to light which says they might not be guilty of this awful crime but the court is refusing to re open the case. I will not say they are innocent or guilty but my point is there is still much preudice against us. Alot of people still conisder pagans evil.

I recieved an email yesterday that said some sort of act was repealed that stated Wicca was a religion but there were other laws on the books to restore that? Idon't know, I am amazed that noone on this board has talked much about Bush and his unacceptance of pagans and how he talks of his God so much.

Maybe I'm reading the wrong posts. I know what you are talking about in Texas, if anyone else want to know its on www.txpn.org under Labor day 1999. I didn't know Bush supported thay crackpot.

basically george bush, or any president does not have much say as to "what is a religion" the constitution forbids the government from "establishing" a religion as the church of england was made the official church, replacing the roman catholic church in england. it also bars the government from interfering with the free exercise if religion and that includes us no matter if the extreme christians like it or not. ah! i've found my handy dandy copy of the constitution so i'll quote, "congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;" there's more, the free speech clause, but "or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" means us whether solitary or in coven, witch or wiccan. clinton could not "recognise" us nor bush "ban" us. our right to be and do is above their powers. blessed be.

Hi all!
Yep,the ole Shrub said, when asked of Wicca,"I don't think that's a religion."The preacher in Texas was buggin' out about the Military Pagans at Ft.Hood .I think the 3 guys accused of the ritual murders were in Memphis,I saw a documentary on the subject. They showed the father of the boy killed,it really looked like he committed the murder. He was scarier than the one on death row. They said he'd moved to an undisclosed location, but I could tell from a recording studio he used and from his home that he lives in the Oklahoma City area now, which really scared me.
I think Shrub's liable to push for a constitutional amendment to allow public prayer. It will probably only allow Christian public prayer. Then there's his whole Faith Based Initiatives,in which he wants to give federal money to religious organizations.I'll bet he doesn't give this money to Pagans,or any other religions except Christians.

Thanks for your post,
Yes that was the one, bushes speech the other night gave me a sudder of dread. He dosen't like us and as far as he is concerned we shouldn't be considered a religion. He does not view us as a religion. SO in my humble opinion he is not going to give the same respect to us as we deserve as a religious group.

His "Faith" plans could be good to those under those religions but what about us there was an estimation a few years back which said there were 100,000+ wiccans in the us alone, not counting the other branches of paganism, I think that with those type of numbers we should at least have some say about what happens concerning our religions.

Bingo! I'm not worried, though it's sad to have someone that many children take as a role-model up there spreading that filth, there's little he can do but talk about it. *shrugs*

I'm not too worried about Baby Bush. The man can't finish a sentence without using "um" and "ah" at least once. I doubt he can end a religion that has been followed since the earliest known human history. In fact, many of our Gods and Goddesses are mentioned within the text of the Bible. I think that that would hold up as an arguement for the legitimacy of Paganism.

Sides, If History repeats itself, and I believe it will, He won't last long enough to get around to it. I doubt, with needing to prove himself with Medicare reform, military readiness, tax cuts, and education reform that he'll get around to this within the two years before the Democrats retake the house and senate. He's really got his hands tied.

And this is why I am REALLY worried about him. From a Christian perspective...its no better people. He will make a mockery of my Path by proclaiming himself to be a part of it. As he already has...
