if you want to have a Craft name, how to get it? one witch on another site that after you dedicate yourself, the lord and lady will send it to you and it will come to in your dreams, another witch said that you have to come up with yourself, and yet another witch told me that your craft name has to do with your birth name! this is so VERY confusing to me and i have no idea which one is right or ... what.

Actually all of the above. :):)

I would say it depends on how you feel. My son chose his after his rite of passage. But I know of people who had it coem to them in dreamwork. MIne...well tis same as my given name only shorter. I had no clue one had to have a craft name and been witch too long to change me now :)

I myself found my craft name through a meditation.....

but it does depend of the person.....some people just choose a name that the feel attuned to...

You should try different ways, see what works for you, and there is a theory, that if you havnt found a name yet...your not ready to receive it....

I dont know about that, but it was only after the fourth meditation for my name that it came to me...

I cleared my mind, picturing the plain peice of white paper......then i pictured a door, opened it, and there was a forest through it....I walking through the forest to a cave.
I travelled down the cave, blackness, shrugging off any negetivity that clung to me, and finally I see an opening with candles all in the cave...there are things there that I love, pictures, colours furniture, and my cat (may he rest in peace) is curled up near a fire place that has my favourite chair.
On the far wall across from me there is a pool of light, there I go and kneel beside, look down and there the Goddess is waiting.
She speaks my name and, kisses my brow returns to the God.
I stay in my little cave for as long as I want to then, it being my safe place, and when ready I leave through another door back into the real world....bringing with me a sence of peace and harmony.

That is my personal meditation, and it may not work for anyone lese, there are also much more involved in creating it....It is my way to the God/dess.

It may seem complicated, but I have an over active imagination, and I worked long and hard on picturing it perfectly.

There's all the ways mentioned and more. They were probably talking about the way it happened for them. You have to do what feels right (works) for you. When you find the right one, you'll know it.

And, as was mentioned earlier... you don't have to have one. It's whatever feels comfortable to you.
