Ok for a long time I've been wanting a pet because in our house it's only me and mom in our large house. So I decided on a kitten and I finally convinced mom.I want because it is more easy to take care of,it's a sweety and I thought that we could work some cat-magic together.
The thing is I can't seem to decide on some things:
-The sex of the kitten!I am not too concerned but primarily I wanted a female cat because it's more easy to attune with in magic. Also one day I caught myself writing down the name Sleole. It's obviously a female name but it's not mine because I already have one so I thought it could be my future cat's...But then I thought that a make is better because he won't have affairs with the down floor's male cat.So what do u think?Male or female? What do u have?
-Do you work magic with your cats?
-I have problem deciding if I should get a Siamese cat or a a stray pe.You see today I passed by a friend's work and he has a garden there. His balck cat had given birth to 7 kittens. They are so cute! But one black-white with blue eyes caught my attention.I don't know,I felt something with...him!Yes he's male.I talked with mom and she said we better get a Siamese because they are better in character.Do you agree? What should I do?

I appreciate any help

I prefer male cats; every male cat I've ever had has been far more interested in anything magical I've done than female cats. But it mostly involves them burning their tails on candles while looking at me in a bemused fashion :D I'm sure the thought was there, though. I don't necessarily involve them...they just like to get involved.

I have three rescue cats, all from a farm and probably inbred but lots of character. Having said that, a lot of pedigrees like Siamese cats are inbred for many generations, which can cause a lot of health problems (hereditary or general mutations); it's something to consider when you think about getting one - at least make sure you get it checked out thoroughly and get a full history of the parents. Siamese are also notoriously moody and temperamental (more so than most).

Also consider the fact that some people who breed pedigrees will have their poor cat churn litter after litter out to make money from them. The poor cat ends up knackered and in an early grave, so make sure you ask how many litters she's had if you do end up buying one.

hey anna! i'm the happy pet of two male cats, and neither of them is purebred. one's a tabby, and the other is...well, we're not sure! anyway, it honestly makes no difference what breed they are, but in my experience, black cats are the sweetest. yes, i do practice magic with my cats. i mostly do finding and retrieval spells with them, but neither is my FAMILIAR. my familiar isn't a member of the household. so in a nutshell: breed doesn't matter, whatever gender attunes to you best is what you should go with, magic is worth doing with animals, your cat doesn't have to be your familiar. good luck with your search, and bright blessings to you!

Let the cat pick you. You can never force a cat todo magic with you. Some naturally like it, some aren't interested, and some like to just bat shiny things off of your altar. And very few will do magic r ig ht off the bat, even if you adopt an adult. They want to know you, bond with you, and become more familiar with the partnership before they'll even consider magic.

Get a cat that you get along wiht, personality-wise. When one gives you "the look" you'll know.

Siamese cats can be very moody, and VERY loud. They're one of the most talkative, yeowly breeds I've ever met. And like any purebred, they're more prone to genetic health problems and inbreeding than basic cat-cats. I've never had a purebred cat in my life; they've all been strays, shelter cats, or cats that just entered my life out of nowhere. And they've all been wonderful in their own unique way. I've had both genders, and I can't say I have a preference. My males have been sweeter, my females have been more elegant but also more tempernmental.

You should spay or neuter your cat, REGARDLESS Of gender, so "having an affair" shoudln't even be an issue. Cat overpopulation is such a problem that it's really a very poor idea to get a cat and let it breed. While sometimes accidents happen--a cat gets out, you don't get one of your cats spayed on time, a rescue comes to you pregnant--if you're getting a cat on purpose, PLEASE get it fixed on purpose. It will be a much calmer, much better behaved pet with a lot fewer behavioral problems.

Don't set out to get a cat with specific "ideas" in mind. Get a cat, regardless of breed, color, or gender, that you connect with and that connects with you. Nothing's worse than living with an animal that you want as a companion that wants nothing to do wiht you because your personalities are too different.

Ladyleo,

Your cat is the spitting image of one of mine...and he's inbred as hell too. He goes out at night and brings back pants from other people's washing line.

well, out of six cats, 2 are male, 4 female. one of the males isn't neutered, but we haven't had any real problems with him spraying because he's allowed outside... the rest of the cats are strictly indoors... Anyways, male cats tend to be extremely affectionate, but I don't think gender really matters...
LadyLeo, one of my cats is extremely inbred! She's very odd looking, and acts even odder...

well being mostly cat and having lived with an average of three at all times... well I can tell you about anythnkg you want to know about cats and cat care.

All of mine have been rescues so far.. from the shelter or ones I just found abandoned on the street. Each of them is sweet and has their own personality. Cats are like people. no two are the same and have the same personality and temperment. This is the same across the breeds.

IF you want a high matence.. must be around you all the time hates to be left alone cat then go ahead and get the siamese :) thats my dream cat. I've been researching their care, breeding and showing for the past year. However they are highly intelligent, and highly demanding animals who will follow you all around the house, demand attention, want to be played wtih, insist on sharing your bed, and will get into EVERYTHING did I mention they are smart?

And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE spay or neuter your cat.. whichever you get. They can be crafty and no matter how careful you are, a female will get out and meet a man, AND you'll have to deal wtih her howeling AND have a whole litter of three to 8 kittens that you are now responsible for. And males.. well males have to be neutered or they will spray a fould mix of urine and hormones to mark their territiry.

AND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not declaw them. It's a cruel and inhumane practice thats outlawed in more than 11 different countries. There are many safe alternatives. Provide appropriate scratching posts and take the time to train them. Learn how to trim their nails yourslef OR there are some spiffy non toxic nail caps you can fit over their nails. Just something to think about.

and as for the siamese being a better character.. thats crap. sorry. they are just likem any other cats and their character and temperment varies from cat to cat. Some siamese are sweet as can be, some annoyingly vocal, some are little snots.. just like any other breed of cat or any stray.

Just in general.. to think about.. siamese are VERY attached and VERY involved in their person's life. And they ae VERY vocal. They have quite the loud voice and seem to enjoy having conversations wtih their person. If either of these general characteristics does not appeal to you, then I would'nt recommend getting one. PM me if you have any questions and if you need i can direct you to some rather informative sites :)

I love cats :)

I don't think it matters either way..if you get a siamese or an alley cat chances are you'll have a loving pet. But I would go with the mixed kitten..there are so many kittens out there who need homes- I think that as someone who loves animals I will adopt animals who need me from now on..I used to be a Persian cat breeder and always have owned purebred animals..I need to make up for the problems I created- persians are VERY difficult to care for and become too much for people and they end up in shelters or worse. Siamese aren't as bad, but breeders are breeding genetic problems into that breed as well.

I agree, let the cat pick you! The gender isn't that important, but please do make sure you have your baby spayed or neutered. There are already so many animals that need homes, don't add to the burden. My cats as a general rule seem to enjoy helping out with rituals. I can count on having a cat at each quarter (who needs candles), a couple under my altar, and a few "rovers" who work their way around the circle..and now I have a Huskey added to the mix. And yes, it would seem that particular cats have claimed particular quarters. Whenever I set up my altar to prepare for any ritual, they just sort of take up their positions!? I did confuse everyone last night when I actually set up my altar facing South (a first for me too...)..Not everyone is big on participating, but, well, I sometimes think I should quit calling myself a solitary because so many of mine can't resist participating. And suprisingly, my Huskey just sort of automatically took her place in the circle like she was an old hand at rituals. (Well, she is....she's been my familiar in another time and place...)

I adore Siamese cats, but they need a *lot* of human company - and sadly, they don't usually live as long as their non-pedigree cousins. Siamese are very intelligent, and very "chatty" (they have a strange, deep, hollow miaow) but absolutely crave attention all the time!

I can only echo what others have said about having them neutered - it's a kindness.

Adopt a grown spayed or neutered cat from the pound, they are the ones who need a home the most..............

I love cats, all cats. There's not a cat I don't love. As I don't work magic, I can't say if one gender is better than another.

Here's my Spooky, about 13 years old, spayed female:

If you see a kit or a cat with magical potential, breed really doesn't matter. _All_ of them have within them the wet wild woods and the waters of the Nile, the eyes of the hunter and the serenity of the goddess. Trust your instincts.

But do take the good advice about looking after them too!

If you're looking to work magic with your cat, you are going to have to find the cat based on that rather than breed. From what you said about the connection with the black and white kitty, that might be a start right there. You have to trust that you will Know the right cat for you. Male/female... it truly doesn't matter that much. Many people have a preference for one over the other, but with the amount of cats I've had in my life (as many as 150 at a time because of helping with the rescue), I can honestly say that it's going to depend on the individual cat more than anything else.

I have 6 females and 1 male (it wasn't on purpose), and I used to prefer females over males all the way. Now, it's the individual cat that draws me, not anything physical about it really. Either way, you should have your pet altered as soon as possible to avoid the problems that go with an unaltered pet. And that way it won't matter about an affair anyway. One thing I might recommend that a lot of folks don't, if you can get two cats, it's actually really fun to watch them interact with each other as well as with you. I know most people say that cats are very nonsocial, but that is again depending on the individual cats. I know at least as many who would be miserable as an only cat. But, that's a personal preference, and if you're only allowed one, you aren't going to be depriving it of anything.

-Do you work magic with your cats?
I work magic with my cats quite a bit, depending on the cat. Some of them have no real interest, and just want to play with the pretty stuff, some of them are neutral as can be, and some of them are *very* attuned, and actually fulfill a role in my magic. Again, it depends on the individual cat, not on breed, color, or anything. I've never gotten a cat with the express purpose of working magic.

As far as breed, you've gotten some good info about Siamese already. They are not always better in character, it truly depends on the cat. And if you want to look for a purebred cat for personality, there are others who are much more likely to be "better" in character. I have one cat who is part Siamese, and she is probably the quirkiest and neediest cat of the bunch. But that's just her personality. Siamese are definitely more likely to be talkers.

Strangely enough, I set out three years ago to get a calico cat, because I adore calicos. That's when we found Wackita (she's black and white with two different colored eyes, she's the Siamese mix). Since then we've collected (via rescue or chance) a total of 8 other cats (2 have since passed on). And it's the darndest thing... not a ONE of them is a calico! But you couldn't pay me enough to get rid of any of mine for any calico out there.

That little cat has called you and aI think you wree destined to be together. All animals have souls and you two obviously knew each other in another Time or Place.

Stick with your intuition - which is really your heart/Soul.

And I have to say, all animals communicate mentally - ask the little furred one what he would like his name to be. Send your thught/question to the middle of his forehead.

The first impression you get - the first image - is it! If you don't get an answer the first time - keep trying.

Blessings,

They are not special in breed just domestic short hairs but they all are sweet. While it is true that blue eyes in kittens is normal and they do change over time. . .some do not. If you happen to have a blue eyed cat (like I do), you must always be on the lookout for vision or hearing problems. Mine happens to be white with orange point markings (like a seal point, only hers are orange) and crystal clear blue eyes. . .long hair. . .very beautiful, trusting and extremely friendly. . .

So, do not shy away from blue eyes. . .after the kitten is about 9 weeks old, the eye color is set (at least that is what my vet told me). All of the other 5 kittens eyes turned amber, but QTip is still blue and they are now 7 months old.

I would strongly suggest finding a no-kill shelter in your area. . .those are cats from homes who cared enough to find a shelter to keep the kitties around, and not just put down. They will normally already have been spayed or neutered. . .kittens can be done at 3 pounds. . .according to our shelter.

Blessings and I hope you find the cat who speaks to you. . .in his/her own special way.

As for which gender is nicer. . .both, you just have to treat them right.

Here she is. . .interfering with my computing as normal. . . When she is ready for bed, she climbs in my arms or on my shoulders and chest and lets me know. . .

There some important things you need to know about cats:

1. In ancient Egypt, cats were worshiped as deities. Cats think they should still be worshipped. Worship your cat. It will make your life much easier.

2. The cat will be the boss. There is no way around it. If you don't like it...too bad, so sad. In my house, I pay the bills, do the grocery shopping, & clean the litterboxes. Sweet Little Ramona & Bubba the WonderCat are in charge of everything else. They allow me to live with them, not the other way around. Once you agree that the cat is the boss, your life will be much easier.

3. Cats are bed/comfy chair/sofa hogs. They will pick their favorite chair/spot on the bed/end of the sofa. Deal with it. Once you let them have their favorite spots, your life will be much easier.

4. Cats have definite likes & dislikes when it comes to food (or anything else). Whatever they like, give them a taste (yeah, even your lobster tail). If you just hand it over, your life will be much easier. Also, cats are known (at least mine are) for trying any food that doesn't try them first. Let them (unless you know it's poisonous or harmful). My cats have eaten the weirdest things...sardines in hot sauce, cornbread, chocolate cake, chicken I wanted to throw away. Let them; your life will be much easier.

5. Cats are open to negotiation. Sometimes. Not often, though. When I'm asleep, away, online, or busy with something, the TV is tuned to Animal Planet (mine like dog shows...they think it's amusing that there are animals that obey people). In exchange, I am allowed to watch the news, West Wing, & Packers games.

Have fun.
