Below are the chakras, what they represent, where they are located, and the healing stones most commonly used in association with these chakras.

First ("Base") Chakra

This chakra is the root chakra, and is connected with our relationship to the Earth, as well as our most basic needs for survival.

-Sustenance
-Shelter
-Physical Health
-Safety

When this chakra is blocked, our connection to the world around us may be weakened.

When overstimulated, a preson may become to attached to things of the physical world, for example; placing too much importance on material wealth and possessions.

Associated with:

Color - Red
Element - Earth
Sense - Smell
Crystals - Agate, Bloodstone, Tiger's Eye, Hematite, Carnelian, Rhodochrosite

Location:

Located between the anus and genitals; linked to the reproductive organs.

Second ("Belly") Chakra

This chakra is the sacral chakra, associate with change, and with changing formlessness to form.

-Creativity

This chakra being unbalanced can result in great feelings of displeasure and restlessness. A person may deny themselves of any pleasures and deny that they have any desires.

An overabundance on energy in this chakra may cause a person to be overly focused on satisfying their desires and refusing to acknowledge that it is not always healthy or in their best interest to have all their desires met.

Associated with:

Colors - Orange, gold, amber
Element - Water
Sense - Taste
Stones - Moonstone, Tiger's Eye, Citrine, Carnelian, Rutilated Quartz, Golden Topaz

Location:

Located below the navel; linked with the adrenals.

Third ("Navel") Chakra

This chakra is the solar plxus chakra, concerned with personal power.

-Sense of our place within the world;
-Confidence in ourselves;
-Self-Esteem

When this chakra is out of balance, it can lead to a person being overly sensitive to the reactions of others; feeling indifference or coolness as rejection; feeling that anything less than completely positive feedback is criticism. A person's inner critic may seem to be working in overdrive.

When in balance, we are able to accept responsibilites that are truly ours, and can be confident in nour actions and abilities.

Associated with:

Colors -Yellow, Gold, Rose
Element - Fire
Sense - Sight
Stones - Citrine, Rose Quartz, Aventurine, Malachite, Smokey Quartz, Sunstone

Location:

Located below the breastbone, behind the stomach. Linked to the digestive system.

Fourth ("Heart") Chakra

This chakra is concerned with unconditional love. Affects our ability to consider others, to empathize, and to be considerate in our expectations of ourselves.

-Link between the intellectual and spiritual

A person who is continually giving - or on the other hand denies any feeling of empathy for others and is unable to show compassion is likely unbalanced in this chakra.

A balance in this chakra can result in a great sense of inner peace and well-being.

Associated with:

Colors - Green, Pink
Element - Air
Sense - Touch
Stones - Jade, Aventurine, Watermelon Tourmaline, Rose Quartz, Emeral, Sugalite

Location:

Located in the center of the chest.

Fifth ("Throat") Chakra

This chakra is associated with expression and communication - both verbal and non-verbal.

-Telepathic abilities

When out of balance, a person is likely to be overly talkative about nothing in particular. It's very difficult for this person to listen, and others are unlikely to listen to them before long. Another sign of being unbalanced in the fifth chakra is to be uncommunicative and to give unclear signals in non-verbal communications.

Associated with:

Element - The Ether
Sense - Hearing

The third eye is where the conscious meets the unconscious; this is where imagination and inner sight reside. Developing this chakra requires one to be more aware of our intuition and extrasensory perception.

-Imagination & Inspiration
-Clairvoyance
-Precognition
-Psychometry

Excess of energy in this chakra can mean that a person will be too influenced by the psychic world; they may becond ungrounded and uncentered, appear flighty and spacy.

Depletion of energy can lead to a person being seen as narrow minded. They may be uncomfortable with challenge and change.

A balanced sixth chakra allos us to make decisions that are not based upon fear or ego - it allows us to use all mental, physical, and spiritual resources available to us to the best of our ability.
