I was just wondering how many people at MW follow a Slavic path or incorporate Slavic ritual/magic or Gods into their practices. I know there are a few- but I bet there are a bunch more!
Come out, come out, wherever you are! :fpoke:
I recently became really interested in the path. Perhaps those more experienced than I could offer a few newbie pointers?

I'm actually kinda interested in this as well, because I am Slavic. Look forward to who might have some tidbits. :)

http://members.aol.com/hpsofsnert/ - Slavic Paganism & Witchcraft
I've been interested in it for awhile but haven't really made an offical move as of yet. I'm not really sure if it's right for me.
I would like to get some info on Baltic Witchcraft if anyone has any. :)

I just did a search of Slavic Paganism on MW and there were a few threads, but most with no replies. :thumbsdow
Last night I picked up a book of Godesses around the world and there were a lot of Slavic ones in there. It got me interested. So now I am trying to do my own research on the Path.
I'm curious about it because I am part Slavic-- Russian/Ukranian and German--- I'm related to Taras Shevchenko (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taras_Shevchenko) ,the famous poet :D ...it's my maternal Grandma's maiden name too. Zent is also in my family-- that's German. (My other half is Cherokee). I never considered Slavic Paganism before, I guess because I didn't take the time to look into it...but now I am.
It would be closer to my roots than anything else I've looked into.
I'm hoping to find some info out there-- more about Sabbats, rituals and practice than the Gods (I already found a lot about that).
I guess I could go with general Slavic, Russian-Ukranian centered, or German.
Anyone who follows those and would like to help would be cool :)

There's tons about Baba Yaga out there. I could post some links if you want.
And like I said in my post-- I'm looking more for the way it is practiced. I already have tons about the myths and Gods.

I doubt anyone is even reading this thread :( but I just thought of something...
Since Latvia and Estonia border Russia, maybe there is a possiblity of sharing...?
I tied to find stuff about Russian based Paganism, but there's like nothing. Seriously.
There is quite a bit about Latvian Paganism "Romuva" though....but then again my ancestors aren't from there...
Of, couse I get stuck with the tricky one (Russian-based)...and the German angle doesn't call to me (Ásatrú)... :ugh:
...maybe the ancestral path is not for me

oh, don't give up yet. :rubhead: off the top of my little head, i could tell you that shamanism originated in sibiria, for example.
and then maybe you're using the wrong search terms. i know there's a different word for ancient russia, i just forget what it is. maybe there's a kind of an ancient russian reconstructionism...?
i'll keep an eye out and post any interesting links i find. :)

Thanks, mothwench :)
I'd like to work in some of the Russian Paganism into my practice...and Cherokee too, once I find that info out.
