Introduction to Leonie Faye Tarot Workbook.
Created by Leonie Faye

Learning to read the Tarot can enhance your life through guidance, warnings and insights to any problems you are facing. The days are gone when Tarot was classed as an evil tool used to trick people into joining evil occults. Today we use the Tarot in a stylish and creative way for spiritual growth. This is my dream, to bring the Tarot into the New Age with a proper understanding of how it can play an important role in someone’s life. That is why I have created this workbook, to give you a greater understanding on how to learn and comprehend the meanings in the 1990’s through to the 21st century. I want you to understand that you can use the Tarot on all levels, i.e., Physically, Mentally and Spiritually. This will enable you to give a much more accurate and reliable reading for yourself and others. Over the years I have seen the Tarot grow and evolve. When I first started reading the cards, there were only a few varieties around with books dealing with only the basic meanings. Over the last five years, I have seen many beautiful and creative cards and books come onto the market. These have inspired me to take the plain Tarot deck and their meanings, and while keeping their basic structure, add a spiritual idealism to them. I also found that most other books, while great dictionary style formats, were not really written on a level where you could help guide the person in order for them to understand why these events were taking place. I wanted to create a format that was quick and easy for the average learner to comprehend and use straight away. Hopefully, this is what I have achieved. However, my intention is that you will be able to discover and implement your own style within my format.

I have also put together a set of affirmation cards to go with my Tarot Workbook. The affirmation set works in conjunction with the whole seventy eight Tarot cards. You will be able to use these affirmation cards for people, or yourself at the end of each reading to help give a little positive feeling about the events that are being predicted. Hopefully, they will reassure them that all will be explained and sorted out in a way that they can live with. Another point I want to make clear is that you can use any basic Tarot card set with my workbook and affirmation set. This is good if you find that there is a certain brand of cards that you are comfortable working with. I do not discriminate against using other decks and I have set my workbook out so that you, the learner, can choose a deck that will enable you to be the best you can be. As a collector of card sets myself I know how important it is to have a close relationship with your cards. I wish you well and hope that you gain much information from my book and that you find the Tarot as rewarding as I have in my life.

The Meanings of the Cards

We will now look at the meanings of the cards. There are three levels on which you can interpret the Tarot.

The First level is the Physical. Here the meanings deal with the day to day events that take place in our lives.

The Second level is the Mental. Here the cards deal with what a person is thinking, their fears and expectations.

The Third level is the Spiritual. This means our higher purpose. In this level the interpretations give us a greater understanding of our role on this planet.

Each level of interpretation is very important and should always be used when reading someone. This is to provide a total picture of what lies ahead. Also it can give them guidance when the reading is a negative one. I am going to give you my interpretations of the Tarot. In my experience as a Tarot Reader, I have found these meanings to be the most accurate. There are many books available today. I recommend that you read them as they will help you to learn and further understand the Tarot. Once you have mastered the general meaning of each card, it is important to use the cards on friends and family. The more you read, the more your psychic abilities will flow. Always keep your book handy when doing a reading, so you may refer to it if needed. But once you have mastered their meanings and are charging for a reading it is unprofessional to read from the book. If you notice that you are doing a reading and it does not make sense, the cards may be tired, or have too much energy flowing through them. What you can do is clear them after each day to keep them fresh. To do this, simply place them back in order, or run your fingers over them to remove any energy. I also do not recommend asking questions about the person before the reading, as this may bring into question your ability as a professional Tarot Reader..

Remember you are in control of the reading, it is your job to read as accurately and honestly as possible. Never lie, if you are afraid to say something, say nothing.

Drop the belief that you must do it on your own. Working together with others will give you freedom and you will then know true independence - independence of your fears and expectations.

The Court Cards
Let us now look at the court cards and their meanings. The Court of Wands / Staves is usually a group of people who are brown to red in hair colouring. These people are energetic and like to be on the move all the time. They are good talkers and communicators. They enjoy their work and their play. The term “life of the party” is a good description for these people. They thrive on hard work and will most likely reach the top of their profession, not through any favours but from hard work and dedication. They are easy to love and are quite similar to the Suits of Cups in their emotions, but they do like to be in charge of their own emotions. So they are not as dreamy or flamboyant as the Court of Cups.

If some new found belief is not working then move on.

The Queen of Wands / Staves
The Physical / Mental / Spiritual meanings: A very friendly and intelligent female. She does not like being at home, would rather be doing something like working or involved in sporting activities. She is good with children and animals because she is as energetic as a child and would keep them amused for hours. She loves to socialise and mixes easily in any type of group. She would probably hold court, with her talking and personality. On a Mental and Spiritual level you are being told to find the qualities of this fun loving and hard working woman in yourself. Without energy and fire in us how can we get to where we want to go.

The King of Wand / Staves
The Physical / Mental / Spiritual meanings:
He is just the same as the Queen of Wands / Staves but he brings the male qualities to life. Strong and dependable, hard working and ambitious. Likes sports and outdoor activities and he is fun and loves to party. On a Mental and Spiritual level you are being told to look at becoming like this man. Look at his energy and fire and his love of life and try to find these qualities in yourself.

The Suit of Swords
The Suit of Swords can be somewhat negative in its interpretations. It tells us of the troubles that we are faced with. It can foretell of a time when one is being tested in some way. Illness, marriage break ups, loss and grieving through deaths. Be very sure that you know what you are predicting when reading with this suit. However, on a positive note the Swords also represent energy and fire but on a level of total commitment. The mind tends to go in one direction, which can be good in some cases where this is needed to achieve a special goal. Swords only deal with the black and white areas in life and they tend to ignore the in between. They believe in strict discipline and structure. But there are some positive qualities with this suit, which should be emphasised.

Ace of Swords
The Physical meanings: On this level it could indicate minor surgery. A test you have to sit for, eg drivers licence, medical test or some sort of educational test. A minor illness or accident could happen when this card is in a reading. Legal matters but only minor, a fine for speeding or a warning to take it carefully when out and about.

The Mental meaning: Aces are new beginnings, and the Ace of Swords represents a period in your life where you will feel that you are being tested in some way. A trying period for yourself, where little things go wrong in the house and at work. You may feel on edge all the time. You may also feel a sense of power and action sweep over you which may make you unbearable to live with because you will feel impatient if things do not go your way.

The Spiritual meaning: Tests in life are defined as lessons that we have to face so that we can learn to be happy and whole. If you feel on edge and unsettled, or there are problems around you, look at this level for guidance. For every negative lesson comes a flash of insight and then a realisation, and with the realisation comes the awakening of what that lesson was all about. Always look for a positive outcome when a negative situation arises. If you focus on a better outcome then you are setting up a positive situation.

Look to the other cards around and below when the Ace of Swords appears in a reading. These will show which area in the person’s life that is causing them problems. Also check for any Major Arcana cards in the spread, they will clarify the meaning of the reading much more.

Two of Swords
The Physical meaning: Indicates that there is some sort of stalemate or holdup within a problem in the person’s life. Two people arguing over who is in the right. Not agreeing on a divorce or custody settlement. A trip or some business deal being held up due to complications from others. Conflict in a relationship because of selfishness from either one or both. Not giving in to another’s demands.

The Mental meaning: There is a need to find a resolution to a problem that you are facing. You need to compromise and maybe give a little to reach an agreement.

The Spiritual meaning: You are not focusing on the whole of a problem. You are only seeing the negatives. You are refusing to allow yourself to be open towards a resolution. Do not be afraid to reach a compromise or to allow for change. Sometimes seeing another’s perspective can give you freedom to see whatever is causing your blockage. If you don’t then you cannot move ahead, your heart will be locked in battle and not in love.

Three of Swords
The Physical meaning: Heartbreak and sorrow over a breakup in a relationship. A loved one going away for work or some trip, leaving you sad and miserable because you will feel lost without them. A serious illness that may need surgery. Also could indicate someone with heart problems. An argument or upset that causes pain and tears. Grieving after a funeral.

The Mental meaning: Feelings of sadness, depression and loss. You feel like your world is coming apart, people are leaving and you feel alone and isolated. You feel as if no one cares about your feelings.

The Spiritual meaning: The heart feels like it has been torn in two, making you feel vulnerable and exposed. Sometimes this is a good state because when we are vulnerable and exposed we are fully open and we are able to truly feel with our emotions. This will make way for true emotions like love and caring.

Four of Swords
The Physical meaning: Involved in the medical profession. A doctor, nurse or care giver. Recovering from an illness, or stressful phase in your life. Involved in yoga or meditation, which requires commitment. Needing to be on your own, to think and sort your life out.

The Mental meaning: You have so much pressure from outside influences that you are feeling very tired and stressed out. You feel you cannot go on in this mode of lifestyle because it is making you feel run down. A need for silence in your mind.

The Spiritual meaning: A time to contemplate your life, to find out why you are feeling run down and tired. Why do you feel the need to withdraw from others and the world. Is your illness real or caused because the mind has created it through wrong thought.
Meditate and speak to your higher mind, ask why you feel the way you do.

Five of Swords
The Physical meaning: Arguments and disagreements with others. You may be subjected to a person who wishes to harm you in some way. Domestic violence. Even child abuse. A stormy and confused time in one’s life. Dark clouds.
The Mental meaning: You may have feelings of anger and jealousy towards another person or a situation. A feeling of rage, wanting to hit out at the world.
The Spiritual meaning: You are being told to scream, shout, let your feelings out, jump up and down, hit a pillow, but do not direct these feelings towards anybody else. Sit awhile and let the tears flow and as they do watch how calm you become. There, that was better, now you can address whatever is blocking your path and heal it.

Six of Swords
The Physical meaning: A trip away especially near water. Moving out of a bad period and into a period of calm. Your emotional / financial problems improving.
The Mental meaning: A period of calmness sweeps over you. You have just come through a storm and you have survived. Making the decision to distance yourself from some negative people or situations for your own mental well-being. Recovering from a nervous breakdown.
The Spiritual meaning: Your emotions are now moving in a peaceful and even flow. You are experiencing a time where you are able to move away from all that has held you back. You may not have finished your healing but at least you can sail along on calmer waters for awhile without the confusion and fear. Enjoy this time.

Seven of Swords
The Mental meaning: An accident, maybe at home or work or in the car. Theft also, a house being broken into, money, purse, car or important papers stolen. Running away from a problem. Cutting your losses, gathering up your courage and making a new break for yourself. Indicates a period of bad luck and misfortune in a person’s life.
The Mental meaning: A period of self doubt in yourself, feelings of running away and hiding until all is sorted out. Not adjusting to change in your life. No self esteem.
The Spiritual meaning: As you put out to the Universe then so shall you receive back. If life is throwing you a curved ball, look at who sent the ball in the first place. Was it you?
Send out positive thoughts and positive events will happen, send out negative thoughts and the same applies.

Eight of Swords
The Physical meaning: Someone who is suffering deep depression. An illness that leaves you debilitated and you cannot move. Involved with drugs. Someone who has already, or is about to go to jail.
The Mental meaning: You have feelings of being trapped within a situation, and you cannot move out of it. You have lost control and so you are giving up. A need to seek professional help because there are feelings of suicide, thoughts of death releasing you from the pain you are feeling.
The Spiritual meaning: Life is precious, even when we are at our lowest, we still have some hope and love to give. Open your heart to love and believe you are a worthwhile person who has so much to give. Believe in yourself again. Learn to love yourself again.
Even in times of strife and feelings of misery believe in love, believe in hope, and when you do the pain will stop and the misery will fade away.

Nine of Swords
The Physical meaning: Fears and worries over some loss that they may be about to experience. Worry over a loss of job, relationship breakup. A serious illness. An emergency operation. Severe financial loss in a business, even bankruptcy. Bad sleeping problems. Walking the floor at night because of all the worry. A death of someone close, maybe after a serious illness. ( DO NOT PREDICT AN UPCOMING DEATH, ONLY ONE THAT MAY ALREADY HAVE HAPPENED ) Ask if there is someone seriously ill around them, and if they tell you yes, then you may advise them that the person will be soon resting in peace.
The Mental meaning: You have faced some set back or loss in your life and now the worry and the fears start attacking you, how will you survive, how will you find another job, and so on. Also you may be a little unstable in your thinking at the moment due to all the worrying.
The Spiritual meaning: Let peace come to you. Stop your worrying for one day. Look at what you have already achieved. Look at your positive attributes, focus on them and breathe. Breathe in life, breathe out death. Life is clearing out any obstacles in your path now, making way for you to be reborn. You are about to give birth. And the baby is your new life.

Ten of Swords
The Physical meaning: Divorce, betrayal, backstabbing, breakups in friendships. Being fired unexpectedly. Serious illness that could lead to death. A threat to your life, murder. Financial ruin. The worry of the Nine of Swords has come true with the Ten of Swords. You are already facing these issues, they are on you now. But thank goodness only some of these issue’s like breakups, divorce and job losses and financial ruin are the worst it gets for a person. I recommend that you never use the other meanings unless you are 100% sure that they apply. I never use them in any reading, but if I see a threat I do give them a warning to take care of themselves.
The Mental meaning: A sense of failure, of letting yourself or others down. Feelings of being betrayed. Anger coming out in uncontrolled bursts.
The Spiritual meaning: The fear has been replaced with acceptance that all has come crashing down. Fine. Now get back up, brush yourself off and move on. It is over now and you can see clearly. Correct the mistakes and move on. Learn from what you have experienced and move on. You now have the chance to start again. Make the most of your second chance and be happy.

The Court Cards
We will now look at the Court Cards and their meanings. They can be any type of coloring, hair, and skin wise. The Court of Swords is a group of people who may be dedicated to their career. They may also have old fashioned beliefs, so they could be in the mature age bracket. These people do not run around and party or get excited and play as they would say “silly games.” They believe that there is a right and a wrong way of doing things. They do not display emotions openly. They are usually career minded rather then family orientated. However, one thing is for sure, in an emergency they are the best sort to have around because they do not panic and can assess a situation and act upon it within seconds. They are also very clever, which may come across as arrogance to lesser mortals. You will find people who are involved with law and the medical profession under this suit due to their dedication. Also police officers and military people can be represented in this suit. The Court of Swords may tend to be very scathing and argumentative in their behaviour. This is due to their strict beliefs. All of us, at times can have these qualities, so bear this in mind when you are doing a reading and these cards show up. It may only represent them in a particular situation, or may even be an actual event.

The Page of Swords
The Physical / Mental / Spiritual meanings:
Concerning a child, this could represent bad behavioural problems, bored at school because they are very clever and need more stimulation, need to keep their mind active all the time.
As a situation: Indicates legal contracts and documents. Also gossip and scandal. Phone calls that may bring bad news because of the nature of the Swords.
On a Mental level: A very exacting time of study, needing to apply oneself totally to achieve excellence. Learning disabilities, for an adult someone who needs to learn to read and write. On a Spiritual level: Swords tend to believe in Christianity and the Bible. Could indicate Bible studies for the young, or a new found belief within a church.

The Knight of Swords
The Physical / Mental / Spiritual meanings:
A young ambitious and arrogant male / female who will stop at nothing to get what they want. As a situation could indicate sudden changes in a person’s career or life. Somebody leaving and dashing out of their life as quickly as they came in eg “a one night stand”.
On a Spiritual level: Could indicate someone who goes around and sells Christianity door to door. They feel very passionate about being involved in God’s work.
Please note: There is nothing wrong with selling God to others.

The Queen of Swords
The Physical / Mental / Spiritual meanings:
A woman who holds power, maybe a boss, also a doctor or lawyer. Could indicate a woman who has had enough and is getting tough. May shutdown her feelings because she has been hurt and betrayed too many times.
As a situation it may indicate a need to seek professional help over a health or legal matter. You may find a professional female in these fields will be the most help for you.
On a Spiritual level: A time when you are searching for answers to your life purpose with help from God. Perhaps you are dealing with the negative side to your nature, and feel you can find these answers through the Bible to become more spiritual. Perhaps contemplating becoming a bride of Christ.
(Please note: That is taking the meaning to its extreme, but I have had someone whose goal at one point in their life was to become a nun.)

The King of Swords
The Physical / Mental / Spiritual meanings:
As a person, this male is a strong, aggressive individual. He is probably a big boss or owns his own business. He could be a doctor, lawyer, policeman or even involved in the military. He commands respect and many may hold him in high esteem. He has the same qualities as the Queen of Swords, but he brings the male aspect to her meaning. A man who is in charge of his life and his family. He would certainly rule what he would consider his possessions and property but most of the time he would be a fair and trusting person, unless he was crossed.
On a Spiritual Level: It would tell you of a person who lives their life by the teachings and the word of God.

We have looked at the Suit of Swords and the Court Cards and you may notice that their meanings can be quite harsh and tell of the horrors that we face today, but sadly that is the way society has become. It is important that you realise that we all go through some pain, fear and grieving in our life at some time. Your job is to help guide and warn of the dangers that some people will face. Make sure you are reading them with all the facts and make sure the information you give out is correct. These readings will be your biggest test on your ability to be a good Tarot reader. If you cannot read objectively with this suit then do not read them until you have gained more confidence.

The Suit of Pentacles
The Suit of Pentacles is a lovely suit for those who feel that they can only be happy if they are financially secure. This is not a negative circumstance to believe in, but it does narrow the spiritual side down a bit. Pentacles deal with money and finance. The house and all the possessions you own. Trade and commerce, even gambling. You have done the hard work with the Wand cards, now you are ready to receive the rewards.

Enjoy this time, but never lose sight that there is more to learn.

The Court Cards

We will now look at the Court of Pentacles and their meanings.

The Pentacle people tend to be dark brown to black haired in colouring, though not always. They have a quiet nature and are not given to sudden outbursts of energy or inspiration. They know what they want out of life and quietly go for it with little noise or stage show antics. They are very intelligent and learn things very quickly. I also find that they are very deep hidden people, because they hide themselves away from others, showing only to those they care about their true side. I also feel they are capable of having all the traits of the other Court Cards in the Tarot but show it in a stylish and quiet way.

The Page of Pentacles
The Physical / Mental / Spiritual meanings:
A young clever, but very quiet child who does well at school. Their behaviour is outstanding and they are always polite and well behaved to their peers and elders.

As a situation, this indicates letters, communications to do with money and work. A time of contemplating a new career or even studying to acquire more skills to enhance their job prospects.
On a Spiritual level, this card indicates someone who is reading and studying about numerology and astrology. Also trying to adjust one’s energies to a more slow and even pace.

The Knight of Pentacles
The Physical / Mental / Spiritual meanings:
A young quiet and reserved man / woman who is hard working.
As a situation, it could indicate travelling for work
On a Spiritual level, a period of searching for peace and balance in ones life.

The Queen of Pentacles

A woman who is quiet and kind in nature. She is a good listener to others. She is a hard worker and knows how to make ends meet in hard times. You may find her working in a bank or anywhere that deals with finance. Spiritually, this card represents learning patience and values in one’s life.

The King Of Pentacles
The Physical / Mental / Spiritual meanings:
He has the sane attributes as the Queen of Pentacles but he brings the male side to this card. Strength but the quiet type. He may be quite hard to get close to, but once he opens up he is reliable and trustworthy. He too may work with and around money. Spiritually, he is like the Queen of Pentacles- he represents learning, patience and trust.

We have looked at all the Minor Arcana and their meanings. As you can see they all represent some situation or drama we are all faced with at some time in our life. Some tend to think that the Minor Arcana are not really important unless there is a Major Arcana card around in a reading. I do not believe this. My personal opinion is that these cards are of upmost importance if a reading is to be accurate. They put the real definition to the person’s reading, by showing how one is thinking, feeling and acting. This is essential if one is to read honestly and reliably. Arcana when looked up in a dictionary means “restricted”. So the Major Arcana means that they are restricted to a certain event. Going by that, what I have comprehended is that when a Major Arcana card is about then it restricts the reading to that one situation. So we will now look at the Major Arcana and their meanings.

Tarot
There is a story within the Major Arcana and that is the story of man’s plight to grow, learn, love and achieve till finally they have reached a point where they are spiritually, mentally and physically happy with their life. We at some stage are faced with lessons in life that will help us grow on all levels so we can reach what they call an enlightened state.

If you can view your readings as tools for guiding people through these lessons in life, then you are truly using the cards in the way I hope them to be used.

The Major Arcana starts with the Fool and ends with the World. Along the way is a story and an adventure like no other. However, always remember the Minor Arcana gives you the soul of the reading, while the Major Arcana gives you the heart. Your job is that of giving them guidance.

THE FOOL
Man’s quest for adventure has to begin somewhere, a starting point. This is what I represent. I may be a flash of inspiration, a plan or idea. In your mind and in your heart there is this burst of energy that swells up inside you. It is I, the Fool.

You are about to begin a journey. Where it takes you has no bearing at this time. You may want to throw caution aside and you may want to jump without any recriminations or fear.

The adventure has started!

The Fool represents a phase in your life where you are about to take the first steps, when you branch out for the first time. You are carefree, happy and bursting with new and raw energy. You jump into new situations, take risks, because fear has no place in your heart at this time. In a spread he indicates new beginnings, new ventures, new romances all with fun and light heartedness. Look around at the other cards layed out to see what area has ended to bring about this new beginning.

Spiritually this is the card that means freedom and expression. You have the right to be free and you have the right to express yourself for who you are and what you want to become. There is no risk when we allow ourselves to be free from old patterns. All of life is a party and we allow ourselves the freedom to celebrate. You are a free spirit, even when you are connected to others you can still be free. Explore your freedom, play and laugh at the challenges that you have set up for yourself.

THE MAGICIAN
I have felt the Fool’s presence and learned of my freedom to achieve, learn and grow. I now apply the skills and the knowledge that I have learnt from my lessons and I am willing to apply them to my life. My judgement is right, and I have the will of heaven on my side to make all things possible.

The Magician represents skill and knowledge. Applying oneself to some project or venture. Embarking on a career that you have skills and qualifications in. Having the power to achieve in any area that you are focused on in your life.

Spiritually the Magician represents a time of reconnecting to the divine plan in one’s life. A bonding and joining of great influences come together to help you learn, achieve and grow. Take the will of heaven, hold it in your hand then direct it’s energy to where you want it to go in your life. Anything is possible for you now.

THE HIGH PRIESTESS
The World of black and white fades away and shades of grey appear in their place. Are you searching for understanding to areas in your life that cannot be explained. I am the High Priestess, your perfect woman. Your greatest teacher. The holder of your secrets. The mystic, the psychic. Not all is as it seems when I am around.

The High Priestess represents the hidden side of our nature. Something is hidden away when she appears. Confusion and delusion surrounds her when secrets are in the air. She also represents methods of teaching and studying, because she is so curious about life. The Occult, White Witchcraft and Alternative Healing come under her card because she loves anything that is mystical and magical.

In a Man’s reading she could represent a woman who is mystical. Someone who is their idea of the perfect woman. In a Woman’s reading, a female who is a good friend who offers guidance and love without strings attached. The High Priestess also represents people who go to college or university.

She will also hide things that are not allowed to be shown to you at this present time.

Spiritually she represents a magical time of wonder at all that is unseen. Past life issues and spirits of past loved ones may try and communicate to you now. Connect to your guides for wisdom and advice. The world is so vast and there are many things in our world that hold mystery.

This is such a time for you. Do not fear the magic that has come into your life. See these experiences only as lessons. The school of life is beckoning.

THE EMPERESS
The world is a beautiful place. I love the beauty that Mother Nature has given to us. The trees, the flowers, the rivers and oceans are all of her gifts. So too are the animals great and small. Mother nature also created us in our many different colours and beliefs and we are all beautiful. My life is full and my cup is running over with plenty of love and caring for my world and all who live in it.

The Empress represents our home life, our family, our house, garden and of a fertile period in one’s life. She may represent someone who is an Earth Mother, who loves being at home with her family. She may even be a person’s mother in a reading.

As a situation she tell us that all is well at home and at work. Money is plenty and emotions are centred and well balanced. A strong marriage or romance that leads to growth and procreation.

You find Artists, Gardeners, Dressmakers, Professional Baby Sitters and Aromatherapists around you when she shows up in the cards that represent work. Someone who works from home. The Empress can also foretell of pregnancy for a person in a reading. All will go well as long as there are no negative cards in the reading.

Spiritually a time in one’s life where passion is strong for issues like pollution, greed, poverty and environmental matters. Fighting for the rights of those who do not have the strength to do so. Believing in a better world.

If you believe in something and you want to make positive changes then go to it. It only takes one grain of sand to start a mountain.

THE EMPEROR
I am the master of all I that I possess. Do not try and take me on, for I have strength and force. My will is stronger and is no match for yours. I am your father, your leader, your boss or your husband.

The Emperor represents either a strong and forceful leader, who is in charge of their life. He may be a self made man who has built up a business and is quite successful. He may represent a very dominating father or husband.

As a situation, promotion or a step in the right direction in one’s work life.

If he represents the person having the reading then they may have to take control of their own life, using more will power and strength then they normally do. He may represent someone who has all the qualities that are possessed by the Emperor.

Spiritually a time in one’s life where they are being told that they are the only one who can mend themselves emotionally and spiritually.

You must break the bonds of belief that you need others to heal your pains. You must learn that you are the master of your own destiny.

THE HIEROPHANT
I come into your life when all is not right. I show you how to make things better. I show you how good life can be again. I honour and respect everyone. I am a good listener who does not judge you. I just guide you to the right path. My approach to life is in some eyes old fashioned but sometimes the old ways are the best ways.

The Hierophant represents guidance and advice either from a professional Councillor, Psychiatrist, Family Doctor or from a mature person who has had experience in life’s little problems. He also represents values and morals, doing things in a conventional way. The Hierophant can also represents marriage in the legal sense.

As a person, he is someone who is caring and compassionate to others. They tend to be those people who are there in any crisis, helping and supporting without any concern for reward.

In a reading where it represents work they could be Doctors, Nurses Old Age Care Givers, Priests and Psychiatrists.

Spiritually the Hierophant means someone who has strong Christian or religious values, also whose convictions about their spirituality are practised throughout their whole life on all levels.

I stand by my beliefs and I practise them in all levels of my life. I have the strength to live in a world that is losing it’s heart. Through my belief I am able to ignore the temptations that are thrown at me. My will is strong and so are my beliefs. I believe in myself and the love of God whoever I choose him to be.

THE LOVERS
I look into a mirror and I see two of me. One is real and the other is a reflection. Which one is the real me? Love is all about reality and reflection. So too are people, they are sometimes just a reflection. Love is the most important emotion there is in my life, love and the right to choose for myself. So I bring the gift of love, but I also bring the gift of choice. I can also show you the reality of love and the illusion of love. So what do you choose, which image in the mirror is your choice.?

The Lovers represents relationships, romance coming into the person’s life. She also represents choices that have to be made for a person’s happiness. In a reading where romance is the main issue and there are positive cards around her, she tells of happiness and security in a person’s love life. The Lovers can also show up around work and business as well. In this case she would deal with partnerships and choices made for one’s future on a material level.

Spiritually the Lovers indicates a need for getting in touch with the other half of yourself. The side of you that you keep hidden from the rest of the world. You may think that there is a devil or angel lurking inside and you fear it’s exposure because others may not accept you. You are very wrong For all of us tend to show the world the illusion rather than the reality.

I release the fear that I am not good enough and kind enough and giving enough. I allow the true me to surface and I embrace myself with the love I know I deserve.

THE CHARIOT
Life is an endless battle, an endless struggle. I work hard at my life, my work and my love, but I seem to have so many obstacles in my way, but I am strong, I am a fighter and I do not give in or give up that easily. I know that by working hard and striving on I will get there in the end. I will succeed.

The Chariot represents a period of hard work with slow growth, but still with determination to succeed.

As a situation, the Chariot represents movement and travel but usually the vehicle that you use to get to the places you want to go. Cars, bikes, trains, buses and planes. Around cards that represent work he may indicate someone who works in the transport industry or as a mechanic. The Chariot represents hard work so he may also indicate that work is needed to fix vehicles. He could also tell that there will be problems with a trip away and that extra care is needed.

Spiritually the Chariot represents someone who is having to come to terms with themselves in some way. Learning life’s lessons can be very hard, but be determined to struggle on until you has reached a point where you can love and live life to the maximum.
You must always look at your life and all the lessons you are learning to achieve a state of happiness. Sometimes it maybe hard going but at the end rewards will be yours.

THE CARD OF STRENGTH
I wait inside of you. I hide away until you call me to your aid and then I appear and show you that you are strong and that you can cope and move through all that life is throwing at you. I am the Lion within.

Inside us all is this inner strength that comes out when we call it to the surface. In times of trouble and in times of grief this strength comes to our rescue.
The Strength card represents a time where we are faced with a challenge in some area in our life. He tells us that no matter what happens we will get through in the end because our strength and courage will help us through.

Spiritually the card of strength represents victory over lessons that we have learnt in life. We have shown the dedication and the will to succeed and now we are receiving what we deserve.

You have found your inner strength and you have opened the core to your will and inside yourself you have broken down the barriers of that core which contains all the fear, pain, confusion and loss. The core is where we feel all of our emotions. You must replace the core with love and strength. Strength is your ability to achieve a new rebuilding of your inner most core.

THE HERMIT
I walk along the roadside of life alone. I know many things about life. All it’s lessons I have pondered and resolved. I have all the answers to all the questions you are seeking. Yet you wonder why it is that I am alone, why I take this life of a recluse. I tell you this, I am not a man. I am a part of you that you have buried deep inside of yourself. I am the voice in the back of your mind telling you to reflect, to ponder, to take the time out to contemplate what it is you are working out in your life. I am your conscience.

The Hermit represents a period of withdrawing from life, of contemplating your future. The Hermit is a very spiritual card so it indicates that matters in one’s life are being thoroughly examined.

As a situation could represent someone who lives alone without a partner. Look to other cards to see if they have recently parted in a relationship. It may also represent someone who needs to take time out and be on their own due to outside pressures.

Spiritually, the Hermit is an indication that spiritual forces are coming into your life. This may be in the form of a person who will guide you onto the right path.

Believe in the power of the mystical and unseen and you will know that you are walking the path of the Spiritual Warrior. Your life is destined for great changes, that will take you above your ordinary existence. Embrace these changes, walk the path of the Spiritual Warrior, because your destiny is calling you.

THE WHEEL
I am the wheel of fate. Forever I spin your life around and around, like the cycles of the seasons so too, I bring you transformation. We cannot exist in a non moving stream. We must always grow and change to adapt to our ever changing planet. That is my task. You are called to change and turn your life around when I appear.

The Wheel represents hope that a person can turn their life around for the better. Also indicates changes in a person’s life. They have been on a single pathway and now they must redirect their life. Look at the other cards in a spread to help guide you to where that change is taking place.

Spiritually the Wheel is just another step to spiritual growth. The Wheel indicates someone who has accepted the challenges that come and go in their life. They know it is essential to keep moving and changing all the time if they are to achieve true happiness within themselves.

Be like a wave on the ocean of life. Move with the seasons of Mother Nature. Always allow yourself the right to flow on the shores of life. Always accept the winters and the hot summers of the seasons of change. Spring is nearing. Enlightenment is drawing close.

JUSTICE
In my right hand I hold a sword and in my left hand I hold a set of scales. I sit upon a throne and I watch and judge all who call to me for help and advice. I am Justice. With my scales I weigh up truth and honesty. With my sword I bring down judgement, swift and harsh for those who break the rules or the law of life and of society’s moral codes and conduct.

When the Justice card shows up in a reading it usually indicates legal matters of some kind. You need to look at the other cards in a spread to see where there is a need for legal representation to gain a full understanding. If she is in the upright position or around positive cards she tells you that all will go in favour for the person who is having the reading. Also when there are no legal matters around, she can foretell of a time when a person’s life is balanced and everything in their life is flowing smoothly. If someone has been accused of a wrongdoing and the Justice card appears then you know that she will bring about the truth and that the wrong deed will be made right for those who have been accused.

Spiritually, the Justice card indicates a time in a person’s life when balance and order are called for to help them move into the pathway they have chosen in their quest for happiness and growth.

It is time to set your house in order, to finished anything you have allowed to let slip. The time has come for you to look at where you have been, to see where you must go.

THE HANGED MAN
People show fear when they see and feel my presence, for I am the messenger of change and with that change I bring sacrifice. At the time of great changes we have to let go of old ways and old beliefs. I allow you this chance to make a difference in your life and to have a new and approved set of values. I give you the chance to slow down and contemplate your life before moving on.

We all think we know what it is that we need in our life. We think we were happy with what we had already been given. We were on the right track. The Hanged Man indicates a time of delays, hold-ups in a person’s life. He brings about changes in plans that were made. But the Hanged Man always has a good reason for these changes. He is telling you that something better is on it’s way.

As a situation he can cancel trips away, work projects and even interfere in romances. He also deals with sacrifice. Having to let go of something in your life, even if it hurts but knowing it is for the best.

Spiritually the Hanged Man represents a time of great change in a person’s life and how they feel towards themselves and others. Moving away from the past and letting go of old patterns and beliefs. Giving up the ego and learning that one does not need others to help carry them on their journey.

You may feel grief and you may feel like you have lost so much at this time in your life. But you are wrong, you have let go of all that has held you back in your journey. So rejoice in the sacrifice, live and embrace the new life.

THE DEATH CARD
I am the Card of Death, but I am also the Card of Rebirth. I give you more than I take away from you. I only take what is needed to be taken, even if you think I have been unfair you will understand when the dust of pain and the river of tears stops, that what was taken away was essential for your growth and rebirth into a new life.

The Death card indicates a period in one’s life when they have to lose something, be it materially or physically. Sometimes even a relationship has to come to an end because you cannot hold onto something that was not really yours in the first place. It is like the removing of the umbilical cord from a mother to the baby, so that they can breathe and support themselves.

Death can also foretell of an actual death in someone’s life but it is rarely used in a reading because of the fear that it can cause.

Spiritually, death represents a time of darkness and confusion, of sorrow and a time of release from the past. Things can not go on the way that they have and it is time to release your fear of what the future might bring.

You have to let go, you have to release all that has held you back. Drop it all now. The quicker it is released the quicker you can move into the light. Dawn is approaching. The sun will soon rise and all will be clear.

TEMPERANCE
You were shrouded in darkness, in fear and in fright. You may have struggled hard to release yourself from Death’s dark night. But now I come to bring you peace.. Rest awhile within my world. I bring you harmony and release. You are in the void of light just before the clearing, before the entrance of yet another fight.

Temperance represents a time of rest and recovery from illness and stress. Look at the other cards around to see where the problems have arisen and then guide them to understand they can now relax and recover to rebuild their strength.

Spiritually, temperance is time of meditation. A time to stop the mind controlling your every decision and learn to trust what you feel with your heart.

Rest awhile, take this time to just be there for yourself. You have gone through so much and you have allowed your strength to weaken. Now is the time to build up that strength once more.

THE DEVIL
When I come into your life you know that there is something that is not quite right. You are embroiled in some situation that is getting out of hand. You are allowing yourself to become obsessive or even possessed with issues on the mental plane. You are not thinking with a straight head and that is the problem.. Your head is out of control. Your protective instincts are being shelved while you go against your beliefs. I do not bring these issues into your life. I am not to blame. I am here to caution you and warn you that you are out of control.
The Devil represents a time in our life where we are involved in something that could prove devastating or destructive if we keep going on the way we are. Look at the other cards in the spread to tell if it is to do with love, money or mental issues. With love could indicate sexual issues. With money, someone who only focuses on the material side of life. Mentally someone who has problems trying to cope, suffering depression, anxiety or fears about their life.
Spiritually, you are being cautioned that you are becoming involved with some occult or religion that is proving destructive instead of rewarding. Look carefully at what others are saying. Are they really helping you or are they trying to control you.
You must always look at the spiritual side as a way of gaining personal growth and enlightenment. If this is not happening you are on the wrong path. Seek out people who can help you find the right path. Do it now- do not wait until you have destroyed yourself and those around you.

THE TOWER
You did not heed the warnings of the Devil!. You allowed yourself to surrender to the wrong pathway. I have been called to destroy the bridge that you had built over your river. That bridge was never meant to be there in the first place. But once I have cleared away the rubble you will have an understanding that what has taken place in your life at this time was important for your own well-being. You could not go on the way you were going.
The Tower represents a very shattering time when you may feel as if your life is in chaos and confusion. A sense of failure may overwhelm you. The Tower can take belongings and people away from you. It can also warn of accidents and illness, but sadly these situations were brought on by your own carelessness and lack of foresight. You may have been heading towards a brick wall. Once the chaos and confusion has settled, you will walk away with a greater understanding and strength. You will be ready to take on your life with clear thought and reasoning. Look at the surrounding cards to tell you if it relates to the person having the reading, or others close to them. The Tower is a warning that change is on it’s way in some area of their life. They may not like the changes, but all will become clear when you look at the whole reading as to how they will cope with the changes. Spiritually the Tower represents a time of change, of breaking down old beliefs one has held. These beliefs were not beneficial to the person’s growth and had to be removed. The universe may well be throwing tests and lessons out to the person to see if they can grow spiritually.
If you just allow yourself to drop whatever or whoever is holding you back, then you can move through this time of change with the minimum of pain. Let go and you will move onto your next stage quickly. It is so easy, do not make it hard on yourself.

THE STAR
I am the card of hope, of wishes coming true and dreams fulfilled. You have come through the terrors of the Devil and the Tower and you have succeeded in your battle for freedom and happiness. I bring you the gift of a new life. I will fill your life with love and hope. Anything is possible when I come into your life.
The Star represents a time when everything is possible within your life. If you have been striving towards a goal you will soon reach your destination. If you have been wishing for a positive outcome to some important event in your life then you know all will turn out for the best. If you have been ill then the Star brings back your good health. Life will flow easily when the Star is around.
Spiritually the Star brings you closer to your spiritual goals. You have come a long way in your journey and you are beginning to feel the love and joy for which you have been searching. Your psychic abilities are growing and expanding and the power of healing yourself and others is strong within you. While you are embraced with the loving energies of the Star you may want to share the gifts you have with others.
If you feel the need to share your experiences and lessons with others then do so. You have learnt to love and heal yourself. It is time to give back to others what you have been given.

THE MOON
I am the card of dreams and illusions. Many fear me for I deal with what is unseen in the world. Ghosts, and anything that is magical happens when I am around. I also bring confusion and delusion for it is my job to break you out of your belief of a life that has no magic in it. However, some tend to see me appear in their life within their relationships and their work, because I warn of deception, of lies. You must use your gut instincts and your intuition when I am around. You must also think carefully on any decisions that you make at this time, because you are likely to make the wrong decisions. The Moon card represents a time of confusion, betrayal and deception. Look at the surrounding cards to pick where the situation is. Then warn them that they have to be on their guard. They must look at everything carefully before jumping into any situation, or of trusting someone who may well betray them. The Moon card is also the card of the Mystics, so it may indicate someone who is involved in The Tarot or the New Age Movement. As the Moon card deals with lies and illusions and confusion these people may well be able to guide you through these phases. The person having the reading may well be one of these people.
Spiritually, this is the true card of the Prophet, the Healer and the Shaman. If you are on this road in your spiritual growth then you guided by strong and powerful forces. You will be a strong force to yourself and others. The moon and it phases will have a very special effect upon you.
Dance, sing and celebrate your life. Flow with the magic that is inside you. With the magical powers that are within you at this time you can help heal and guide others. Be like the wolf that howls at the moon. He is asking for it’s wisdom and guidance, so too should you.

THE SUN
I am the card of laughter and love. I bring you the freedom and the innocence of a child. Your life will be overflowing with all that is healthy and pure. I protect your family and sometimes I bring you the gift of a new life in the form of a child. I treasure the children and the family as a whole. When I am around, sickness and grief cannot penetrate my shield.

The Sun represents a time of good health for you and your family. In fact your family will be very important to you. There may well be a child on the way and all will go well if the there are other positive cards around. Enjoy this card’s presence for you will be in a very secure period in your life. Love and sex will have a poignant effect on you. Marriage and commitment at this time will make your life full.

Spiritually the Sun represents a time of abundance and of joy in whatever you are following. Unconditional love, giving and compassion are your traits. Everyone will love being in your presence for your energy is high and others will come alive when they are near you.

What can I say to you that you do not already know, for you are as wise as I am, maybe even more so than me. So I say this to you instead. Never allow anyone to take away from you the gifts that you have. I believe you are at the end of your journey and soon life will be giving you what it is you know you are entitled to. May the love of life and the light forever keep your candle glowing.

JUDGEMENT
I am the card that looks at your life in review. You have been on a journey and you are near the end. I look back at what you have achieved and learnt throughout your journey. If you have acted with honesty and integrity I reward you for your efforts, but if you played against the rules in an evil or destructive way then I bring down the wrath of retribution upon you. I am in the true sense Judgement.

The card of Judgement represents an end to a phase in a person’s life. But usually it is an ending that was planned for or expected. One door is closing and another door is opening. Look at the surrounding cards to see where their life is changing. Could indicate a divorce where both parties have grown and accepted the changes in their life and they can now move on.

Retirement from a job that one has worked for many years, bringing a fresh new life of rest and relaxation or even moving onto a new job with a fresh outlook. If there has been legal matters than all will settle and the person can come through knowing justice has been served.

Spiritually Judgement meant the coming of the end of the world. The wrath of God’s anger would come upon us and only those who had been religious and totally believing in His word would survive. The dead would rise and walk the earth and peace would rein forever after the Devil’s plight had been smashed and destroyed. However, for many spiritual people who do not believe in the Christians values, but who have chosen to follow a path of honesty and integrity and love, find that Judgement means a time when we are all assessed according to our actions during our time on this earth. It can mean Enlightenment to some and to others a new life filled with hope for a better world. Really it is all the same. As you sow, then so shall you reap and we all believe that in our hearts.

Look at where you have been . Have you been an honest and caring person, or have you been selfish and destructive?. The time has come for a reckoning within yourself. You are the judge that sits and judges as to whether you have been honest to yourself. That is what it really comes down to. For we ourselves are truly the only one’s that can sit in judgement, no one else.

THE WORLD
Oh yes you have made it! The journey is over. You have truly learnt and experienced much in your life. You have done well. I have come to take you through the doorway and show you the light. However, you may have thought that this is it . It is over, but you are wrong. For now you must follow your new pathway and I must take you back to the Fool so that your new journey can begin. Only this time you will take with you much knowledge and you have gained more strength and understanding, so this journey will be much easier for you. Good luck…..

The World card represents a time of release and rewards. Change is about to sweep into your life, but not a negative change, a change filled will wonder and joy.

As a situation it sees someone leaving and moving away from their home town, even going on a trip far away. A move of house, job or even a whole way of life. The surrounding cards will tell you what it is that is changing for them.

Spiritually the World indicates a time of total spiritual achievement. Everything has become clear and you now know in your heart what it was you were searching for.

I give to you this piece of advice. Stay strong and committed to your goals and your dreams. Fly above the skies of Mother Earth and allow yourself to feel the freedom always. In what so ever you do with your life, do it totally.
