View Full Version : A Mistaken Rapture

ARKANSAS CITY (EAP) -- A Little Rock woman was killed yesterday after leaping through her moving car''s sun roof
during an incident best described as "a mistaken rapture" by dozens of eye witnesses.

Thirteen other people were injured after a twenty-car pile up resulted from people trying to avoid hitting the woman
who was apparently convinced that the rapture was occurring when she saw twelve people floating up into the air,and then passed a man on the side of the road who she claimed was
Jesus.

"She started screaming "He''s back, He''s back" and climbed right out of the sunroof and jumped off the roof of the car," said Everet Williams, husband of 28-year-old Georgann Williams who was pronounced dead at the scene.

"I was slowing down but she wouldn''t wait till I stopped,"
Williams said.

She thought the rapture was happening and was convinced that Jesus was gonna lift her up into the sky," he went on to say.

"This is the strangest thing I''ve seen since I''ve been on
the force," said Paul Madison, first officer on the scene.

Madison questioned the man who looked like Jesus and discovered that he was dressed up as Jesus and was on his way to a toga costume party when the tarp covering the bed of his pickup truck came loose and released twelve blow up sex dolls filled with helium which floated up into the air.

Ernie Jenkins, 32, of Fort Smith, who's been told by several of his friends that he looks like Jesus, pulled over and lifted his arms into the air in frustration, and said "Come back here," just as the Williams'' car passed him, and Mrs. Williams was sure that it was Jesus lifting people up
into the sky as they passed by him, according to her husband, who says his wife loved Jesus more than anything else.

When asked for comments about the twelve sex dolls, Jenkins replied "This is all just too weird for me. I never expected anything like this to happen."

It's sad, but it's funny... Darn conflicting emotions.

I guess the moral of the story is look before you leap?

I guess it was a happy ending for her because even though she was mistaken she still got to heaven anyway?

Err ... Dang it ... I don't want it to be funny, but I can't help it. I mean honestly, jumping out of your car's sun roof to be taken to heaven because you saw some floating sex dolls and a guy in a toga going to a wild party... That's just plain funny.

Too bad she died though. Or worse, that her lack of thought caused thirteen other people harm, along with damaging twenty cars. That's the not so funny part. Had it just been her that died, It'd have made a great Darwin Award.

just another example of how religion can be dangerous, or perhaps, more correctly stated, how complete faith can be dangerous.

this is not much different than a suicide cult dying in their bunk beds because they "know" the "aliens" will "take their souls".

people believe in things, so much so, that they are constantly looking for ways to reaffirm faith that often has no real solid proof. what a rush of uncontrollable emotion it must be to suddenly be faced with what appears to the religiously blinded eye, to be a sign of the impending release of your soul to a righteous heavenly kingdom, where you would live in eternal happiness.. or something like that...

i assume she was very unhappy with her life. her belief in god was probably all that kept her going, seeing as the moment something appeared to be the "rapture" she went for it with no doubts in her mind... she may have been somewhat emotionally unbalanced as well.

most people, i would hope to think, would be a BIT more logical than that....

I laughed too. Much more than I should have, but it was just such an impossible situation! I mean, really!

And you know, if it had been me, I would have rather died on the spot than stayed alive long enough to figure out that I was wrong, that the person I had mistaken for my Lord and Savior was really just a sexually neurotic guy in a toga.

And I don't even want to know why those dolls were filled with helium!

I feel for her family. How horrible for them. And, like someone said, it may have been great for her. She did believe rapture was taking place. And I have a feeling that there was more at work here than faith. I"m sure her mental state was not up to par.

Call me a party pooper, but I didn't really find it that amusing. Perhaps it's the mood I'm in. I'm tired, frustrated, it's been a long day!

My mother told me that she heard on the radio that the story was a hoax.

I know it's wrong to laugh at anothers tragedy, but, I just can't help myself. This story is like something out of a Monty Python movie. I don't think I'll ever get that image out of my head!

the specific paper it was posted in. Just curious, so funny that It could be a hoax. Although if so, its a great one. Of course I always look at the light side of even the darkest situation when I can.

Floating sex dolls with Jesus urging them on...ROFLMAO

I do think it's a hoax. I mean, I've had some experience with helium (used to work in a party store). I also have a good idea on how much blow-up-anything weighs. #1 - I don't think they'd float. #2 - I think one would be able to tell the difference between a blow up doll (they are rather obvious about some things) and a real human.

It's still hillarious though.

actually my only question is about the statement that a lot of people think that this guy that 'caused' the accident looked a lot like Jesus....how the Hades would they KNOW he looked like him? Does anyone REALLY know what Jesus looked like??

Yeah, I checked Darwin Awards, this one isn't there. So odds are it's just a rumor.

I think it's wonderful the way these stupid people are dying. By not passing on their stupid genes to the next generation, they are doing humanity a great service.
