View Full Version : Washington State Unidentified Animal Cries

The following sounds were allegedly recorded 21 years ago near Federal forest land in Washington State. The principal witness claims they were made by an unidentified animal--a large, hairy, bipedal creature. A non for profit cryptozoological group called "The Enigma Project" digitized these wails and made computer comparisons to the cries of known animals (i.e. dogs, coyotes, birds, etc). To date, no conclusive matches for these sounds have been found in common animals.

Unknown Animal Wail in: Windows .wav format (10 seconds, 218K)

If any of you that live in upper Washington have any incidents to add to this, I would love to hear about it.

If the above file does not download, it is also available here: Animal Scream (http://www.wraith-studios.com/screams.wav) Right click and save it to your desktop.

Well, that's just it. The Enigma Project Group has been collecting information on the area, and local legends to see what and where, if any more unusual sightings or sounds have been encountered.
People in the area always see sasquatch type creatures. So the hypothesis is that if it IS a real recording then that is only one of the possible candidates, IF the aspect of bigfoot is even a reality.

I wasn't able to hear it, but It must be about the Sasquatch?

It's tough for me to believe bigfoot is still real. In order for it to have been around THIS long, there'd have to be a substantial viable breeding population in at least one of the areas it's routinely sighted in. That we haven't found anything other than tracks (no bones of dead critters, for instance) makes me suspicious. If there was only one bigfoot, it'd have to be hundreds of years dead by now.

My jury is still out on Bigfoot. I'm not convinced it's real, but I accept the possibility. If you want to look at some interesting evidence, the work done on footprint casts by a fingerprint expert named Chillicut (sp?) is very interesting. It's one piece of evidence that's hard to just shrug off.

I live in Grays Harbor County where stories abound..pretty scary as a kid, but I don't believe in bigfoot. My favorite story goes like this.."so and so's uncle killed one, but it was so human-like that he could have been charged with murder, so they couldn't go public and had to bury it." There's been a lot of supposed evidence that turned out to be fake...even evidence that "scientists" say couldn't be faked, only to be confessed to by someone on their deathbed.

My cat hissed at the computer when I played the .wav file. It sounded creepy.

You're quite welcome. Bigfoot is something of a fascination for me; childhood bogeyman and all that. There are some seriously whacked out websites, but there are also some really good ones.
Bigfoot field researcher's organization is probably the best.
Bigfoot encounters by Bobbi Short is another good one.
Do a search and you'd be amazed at what's out there. Occasionally Discovery channel runs a documentary called Sasquatch: The Legend Meets Science. It's available of DVD. I've watched it a couple of times. They take a pretty good approach (unlike the X Creatures segment on bigfoot, imo).

D'oh! I'm only now remembering one that waould be particularly relevant to this thread. I think it was called the bigfoot recordings by Sierra Sounds. It's a cd of alleged bigfoot vocalizations.

Agreed. One of the best I have found is Cryptozoology.com, which covers a diverse multitude of cryptids, but thankfully strays away from the more fanciful ones.
I will look into the stuff you mentioned. :)

I live in Washington, and often in the woods in North cascades.... I have not seen a bigfoot..but legend has it he is real. I am not sure. I will say I feel many presences in the woods...but they could be just animals.. I don't know..There are two brothers who are going to make a movie about this subject..but I have no more info than that

Maybe Bigfoot is a mountain man trying to dodge the IRA? hehehehe Creepy noise, sounds kinda like a gorilla if you ask me.
