I don't have alot of room for my altar, and the only place I can go to be alone, is this rickety spider infested shed in our backyard. I'm an arachnophobe, last night I sat there after being woken up to thoughts of spiders. I'm gonna have to make ot somehow, the problem is I have all the time in the world at night to myself, but I cannot go in that shed at night! I have a hard enough time going in there in the day to spray the little buggers out, and yes I'm gonna get booed and hissed by some people. But answer me this you booers and hissers, how many people even non arachnophobes are willing to spend the nighttime in a dimly lit shed, where there are tons of many beningn spiders mostly daddylong legs and big garden spiders, and five or six black widows and there numerous nests? Not to mention the occasional aggressive wolf-spider, and other bizzarre and freaky spider species that may or may not be high toxicity. Possibly radioactive spiders that lives years and will get to be big as me? I've decided when I do have the time I'm just using the altar for the storage of my altar tools, and I'll bring them out far far far away from my own own little house of arachnophobic horror! Okay I'm done griping about the arachnophobe's nightmare behind my house. Thanks guys! :imout:

While I don't have arachnophobia, I sure as heck would stay out in that shed!

On the subject of spiders and at a pagan forum, what is the theory behind witches and spiders? Why are they associated with each other? I got the rest of the misconceptions, but spiders? ???

The only thing I can guess is that there are several spiders Goddesses, who are the weavers of fate.

I HATE SPIDERS!!!!!!!
That said....You couldn't drag me in there! Why not try and find some place out in the woods or a field or something not so enclosed or spider infested for that matter. At least out in the open you have a sporting chance. In that shed you're a sitting duck! :collapse:

Ack... I've got this whole creepy crawly feeling now. *shudder* I would suggest doing a bit of exreminating during the day... a bug bomb or something.

You are brave for going in there in the first place. The only time I haven't thought about spiders in places like that was when I was searching for the cats and thought I saw one of them...and when I was chasing down Luna behind the shed in our backyard...she mattered more than my fear.
But nope, I have arachnophobia big-time...nope, nope....
However, if you do spray--and I'm not hissing you for doing so--try to make sure that animals can't get in there while it airs out, okay? And wash your hands after using that stuff...some of it can be pretty toxic.

Okay, I'm gonna pass out now..........for Pete's sake, find another place for your altar. Make a portable one you can carry with you, but jeez, in that shed, with wolf spiders and black widows (never mind the radioactive ones),well, bud: YOU'RE A GONER!! :wah2:

Cars are good! Around here, Hummers are common...they're huge...you could keep your stuff in there and have room for a full Circle!

What are the odds that you could pay some neighbour kids to clean the shed out? Nothing heavy duty, just take everything out and get a hose and spray all the walls and corners. Then you could buy something to keep the spiders away. We always get 'spider balls' here, I don't know the technical name, sorry, but they grow on trees. They're large, greenish-yellow and bumpy. You wrap them in cheesecloth and put them in a dark corner. They work really good at keeping spiders out of homes and sheds. Hmmm... hopefully someone will read this and know the actual name. :dontknow:

Spiders!? :lookaroun
Last summer, while camping, I woke up because I heard scratching, and I thought there might be a mouse outside. Wasn't exactly a mous- 'twas a black widow on my PILLOW, about an inch away from my nose.
This summer, I heard something crawling. After last summer, I was freaked. I turned on my flashlight, and yep, you got it- another HUGE black spider crawling- get this- INTO my sleeping bag.
And when I was young, I found a black widow in my dollhouse.
So, no spiders for me. I wouldn't go in that shed even if you paid me a substantial amount.

I can remember playing for hours in our spider-infested hay mow when I was a kid, but now I freak when I see a daddy long legs.
Forget the shed, you need to worship in some place you feel comfortable and in touch with your diety(s), not where you'll be wondering if something's gonna attack you.

Spiders are your friends...excepting Black Widows and Brown Recluse, but even a single Widow bite will just make you sick...It usually takes quite a few to kill you....
Just avoid them....and get a really big bright flashlight/emergency light and take it in with you....

Yeah you do have something they want: Fresh human blood. But don't worry, they'll wait till you're sleeping and then poison you, so there's no danger of you waking up while they're feeding or anything.

Perhaps you need an animal that would willingly eat the spiders. Put it in the shed for a few days with some water. Leave an opening for air and light of course and before you know it, that thing would be high off of spiders! What a treat!
Well, it was a thought. I don't see the harm in doing it.

If you don't like spiders, then you don't.
If you've got nowhere else to go, then really, your only option is to get the spiders out.
Brush the place out and clean it through and it'll be far less Aragog-friendly.
Then keep it clean, dusted and swept afterwards so they don't come back (they wouldn't camp in your kitchen or bedroom for precisely that reason!)

Well, I live in the desert and as I said before I'm going to find a warm sunny place in my house when nobody is here. Portable altars hmmm? That would be great. Travel size? Asuage balls? I've never heard of those. I'll look into them, but no matter what I do, they come in droves, paying the neighbor's kid to clean it out, they won't there arachnopobic too. See I spray every few months so little the tyrants won't become immune or have some horrific reaction. I can get the smaller webs out, not the bigs one I'm afraid somethibg huge come crashing down with it. This also the season for those beastly black widows! So I'm screwed, in that department. The little spiders don't bother me so much like the poisonous ones and the huge ones. I'm beginning to think thats the reason I've always been hazardously clutzy and nervous in my spellwork and rituals, and why there so short I hacve to pop me eye open every few minutes to make sure something isn't crawling towards me, or on me. Or worse.

Oh I wasn't supposed to close the shed doors when it was done?I didn't know that. Thanks maybe that was the reason it didn't seem to work all the time.
