Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law.

I would like to know if anyone here has had some succes in projecting themselves astrally and actually getting things done with their body of light? Though I have been succesful in other forms of magick, the Astral magick has been a bit of a problem.
If anyone has any tips, they are more than welcome.

I have a sacred space I go to and use astrally ... As for how I get there and when etc etc ~ I'm clueless. I never know until it happens.

Ya know, the first time I did it, it was kinda 'accidental'. Took me awhile to do it intentionally... about the only way I can describe it is just kinda gather yourself & 'push'...

I too have done it accidentally but I've tried to do it intentionally and it hasn't worked.

do it all the time.

i don't recomment it unless you know what you're doing, and this isn't something you can learn from a book.

i personally recommend only projecting from instinct, because if it comes natrually, then you probably, perhaps really, have enough energy to protect and shield yourself from all the insanity that can emerge there.

I've had my share of battles and fights with "things", and I've seen and experienced lots of nifty stuff, and i guess i know my way around.

But from what I know, everyone percieves things differently. It's not a place of physics and law, so the normal rules don't apply. Things don't have to have shape or form, it's all energy after all. some people haven't developed a "spiritual filter" so it all looks like blochy lights and shadows. Other people, like me, have developed.. what I guess you can call, an astral GUI (graphical user interface), that sorts through all the energy and makes some sense of things for me... oh well enough ranting about me.

I dont' know what you intend to do on the astral. I will admit there are large quantities of energy, as well as wonderful methods of divination to be accessed, But i'd have to know what exactly you were trying to do in order to even begin to give you advice

I agree and it also can be energizing at the same time. It is something I was drwn to and found out more about. My first time was with someone who is very expeirienced in this and she guided me for weeks on the proper meditation and frame of mind.
And most importantly the purpose of it. Now I can gohome and check on my godchildren while they are sleeping!!

Hmmm... mind, be careful if you do try this - as the above posters said, it can get, well, "odd" there. I wouldn't say you could be harmed, per se, unless you believed such were possible, but it can be frigthening ;)

Astral Projection can often be done by first entering a Metagogic (I believe that's the proper spelling?) State. Of course, like Projection itself, it's a personal thing as to how you get there. For my part, they were always the "accidental" variety, but I believe it would be possible, through a deep state of meditation, to "force" it. Simply put, concetrate on leaving your body and entering the Otherworld. See your breathing slow, and even out. Feel your energy centering, condensing, then moving outwards.

Assuming you are able, then just remember that belief defines reality there ;) If you believe a spirit can hurt you, it can. If, on the other hand, you believe that spirit would be best symbolized by a fluffy pink bunny and could never harm you, it will be completely unable to hurt you (and look quite cute, actually).

... personal experience - like the above posters, I have a sort of Astral "GUI" which is a mishmash of images from who knows where. When I was younger, I dreamt there fairly often, but I have yet to go back - methinks I need to work on my other abilities first, and just general mental discipline ;)

Example of a fubar'ed ritual: "I invite the goddess into my circle... as do I invite all MALign spir... that is, BENIGN spirits, and thus do I BANISH all MALign spirits" - tip, use precise, separate english that your mind won't confuse. Oi, that was silly ;)

I've been starting to try to learn astral projection, and I'd like to learn more about the dangers involved. Also, can you stay here, and fly around earth?

Here's a very brief description of the projection technique I use. I learned it from a friend and have also read variations of it in different books.

Deep, physical relaxation is the key. Entering a light trance state can aid you as well, but physical relaxation is most important. When the physical body falls asleep and your mind is coherent, an internal shift of consciousness occurs and a projection reflex is triggered, then the astral body can exit smoothly. If your 'awake' mind is coherent throughout your trance and physical relaxation phase, your mind can trigger this projection reflex by using a technique of your choice.

One technique is to 'reach out' for an object, such as a rope, with your mind as you project. Visualize yourself reaching for and pulling yourself up a rope that is hanging from the ceiling down to your chest. Visualize your awareness hands (astral, not physical) grasping the rope and pulling you up. Feel youself move up the rope as you climb. Be aware of your physical body being left behind, and pull yourself out of it. Stay focused on the climbing and don't allow your physical body to tense- visualize leaving it behind you. What causes projection is the awareness action of 'reaching out' and pulling yourself out of your body with the rope. Don't move too slowly or quickly, keep a steady pace and bring each hand to your chest with each "pulling" motion.
After a time, you will feel a dizziness or a sensation in your stomach or chest- similar to a falling sensation. You may then suddenly notice you are floating above your physical body.

This is the only technique I've ever used but I've been told by others that it is one of the easiest to master. My recent travels have been amazing, each experience a bit more intense. Took me a while to have success.

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law.

Thanks, people.

In reply to why I wish to use the Astral Plane; I think that having your temple on the material as well as the astral plane is an important part of Initation. And sometimes, when for whatever reason you can't enter your temple, there's always the Astral one.

Since I've posted my question I've actually made a lot of progress, and I'm starting to get the 'hang' of it.

Love is the law, love under will.

I've thought about trying this, but the idea of it kind of scares me! :D
