View Full Version : Is there a DEFINITIVE universal Pagan view?

Or will there be -a definitive singular path- solidifying in the future.

Is Paganism destined to coagulate into specific groups that then compete for pre-eminence as the "true" and "definitive" Pagan religion?

THankfully here at Mysticwicks everyone presents a
-----worship and practice how you will, according to your own tradition or research---- which is great.

I'm just wondering if there are any "seers" out there that can postulate some possibilities for the future of Paganism yet.

Nope and I don't see any reason why there should be.

Wow. I can't imagine how you could even visualize such a thing. A most definite no.

No. While there are differences in Pagan Traditions, they
are basically the same....they all agree on a proper
balance of Nature.

Don't believe in male god(s).

I think that to have a universal view there'd have to be a universal deity, or deities. With tens of thousands of deities I don't see the remotest possibility. Maybe a universal New Age religion, but that is something entirely different.

I think not.

If you look at the construct of Paganism vs. Christianity, you will find a lot of similarities. Christianity is just more secular. The Protestants broke away from Catholics, Baptists from Protestants and so on. Paganism is a general belief system that most may follow. However, within Paganism is Wicca, Shaman, Celtic, Druiry, etc.. Even within these branches, are sub-branches and, within some of the sub’s, there are Covens and Solitaries.

I’m not saying that there aren’t some out there that think their form of practice is “definitive” but, there are too many out here that enjoy the freedom that Paganism, as a belief, has too offer. I don’t think that enough would allow that to happen.

I’m not even going to re-read this so, I hope it makes sense.

Regarding Dianic Witchcraft, that is simply the path they have developed and have the freedom to do so.

Blessings,
RnR

Even so, even that's not necessarily always true.

I'd say there are no absolute truths when it comes to Paganism, nor will there ever really be. Just my 2 cents tho :)

I was initially drawn to Wicca simply because there WAS no definitive "answer." And most of the books I've read just say its about the energy -- you can define the energy into Gods and Goddesses, to make it easier to understand, but its still just energy.

The good thing about Wicca, as far as I see, is that it changes WITH you.

Or am I wrong?

NOPE! I can't see my particular path meshing with anything. I refuse to allow that to happen.

I really hope not!

Nope!

Even in Wicca alone, there are so many paths...can't imagine consolidating paganism.

Oh good Gods, I hope not.

I think our diversity is our strongest link and/or trait. To mold that into one unifying or solidifying system would dilute the whole and I think we would lose alot.

Within traditions (and even covens) not everyone agrees about everything. And I think that's a good thing.

And about the coagulating into groups and bickering about who's the 'one'... That's already happened. <shrugs> It's human nature I guess to think that our way is the best way. I personally tire quickly of such thought. As long as it doesn't directly affect me or mine, you all can do whatever you want. But that's just me...

Anyhow... that's just my take on the subject... do with it what you will.
