I just got email about it- came here to post and, of course, found that we already knew.
I love the idea of purple ribbon, Hecate's Color, and, also, non-provoking. My kids can wear at school, and no one will bother them.

Okay this is just my opinion but arent ribbons usually worn in cases of awareness like AIDS, and breast cancer etc? Are we saying paganism is a disease?
Personally I wont be wearing a ribbon....Simply because I am many things...a pagan is just one facet of who I am ....I am a mother...Do I wear a ribbon for this? Those in my life who I feel need to know I am pagan know. I prefer to make friends and acquaintances based on who they are not what religion and would like to be accepted for who I am ....
And my last thought...cmon a purple ribbon? Pagans are a very creative lot why not something more about what we stand for? Possible a purple oak leaf or something.
Just my thoughts.....

Winter

i thought the colors were white, black, and red white for the gods, black for the goddesses, and red for all the blood shed during the great burning years of witchs and none witchs.

In answer to the last 2 post I can only quote the Friends of the Earth

The Purple Ribbon Campaign has been created through Fellowship of the Earth to show solidarity of kindred spirits. "Fight the Fear" is the slogan chosen to represent the Purple Ribbons. Like many ribbon campaigns, this is a way for us to outwardly show our support for religious tolerance and the freedom to believe in our own paths. Pagans, Wiccans, Shamans, Native Americans and so many more of the various Earth Religions are misunderstood by most people with mainstream Christian backgrounds. We believe that it is fear that fuels the fires of misunderstanding and intolerance. In order to fight the fear people have of others beliefs, we have adapted this ribbon campaign as our way of promoting respect and tolerance of all belief and non-belief systems. We all are on different paths with the same goal. None is more sacred than another and none should be discounted as being fraudulant or misguided. Every person has their own personal connection to their spirituality, but regardless of what or who we call Goddess or God everyone should be able to worship in their own way without persecution.

I personally see it as a good thing to try to draw attention to our struggle. A struggle for acceptance of the right to worship as we see fit and recognition of paganism as a valid religion.

Enough preaching. ;) :D Ya'll have your own opinions here......at least. I love you All! :heartthro

Peace,
Twig

Diseases are one of the things that ribbons are worn for, but they have also been used for gay pride, etc...

*going ribbon shopping*

:D

Socharis.... on Sept 21-22 you (wherever you are, wherever you go) can wear a purple ribbon to "outwardly show support for religious tolerance and the freedom to believe in our own paths".
This isnt just in one area... not just the US or Canada but England as well as everywhere else... it's just a day set aside that all people that wish to may wear (and im sure explain) their ribbons... to make others aware...

did that make any better sense???

*goes looking for the coffee pot before ribbon shopping just in case*

Just a point of note:

Pagan Pride Day -- http://www.paganpride.org/ -- is in no way affiliated with the Pagan Purple Ribbon Campaign. They support it, but are not in direct association with it. You can read more about this here --> http://www.paganpride.org/what/ribbon.html

That is so cool.

What's even cooler is that it all starts on my birthday.

I'm going to tell Dextra about it and we'll let our local pagan friends know about it also.

Thanks, Twig.:)
