I agree with the part that says magic is limitless, but I do think that people need to start somewhere, and the books are a good place to look. And it does help to know how to ground, shield, and raise energy when you take part in any spell. That's my 2 cents... now I'm poor...

I think their ideas are logical. I've always looked at magic as being limitless and that it all depends on the Will of the person doing the spellwork/ritual/ etc. I think that books are a good place to look for information, but at some point you have to jump in and get some hands on experience. I don't think someone else can tell a person when they're ready or not, that has to be a personal decision. Grounding, shielding, and raising energy are probably the best things to learn first.

Yes, I've seen posters respond to requests for information about magic as saying, "You're not ready yet," or "You can't do THAT with magic", or "First do everything mundane you can before you try magic." I don't agree with any of it.
You learn by doing, practice makes perfect.
If you focus your will you can do almost anything with magic.
I think your chances of success are best if you do both mundane actions and magic.

i agree that magick has no limits, but i do agree that sometimes it is best not to jump right in. if you research your spell first then you will realise why you are using certain ingredients, why you are saying certain things, why you are performing certain gestures etc. i think that when you understand what you are doing and why then your spell has a greater chance of succeeding.

Just a note, you don't have to use a spell or a ritual to use magic. Those may help you to focus your will, but all you really have to do is to focus your will. A strong desire usually brings about better results than just doing something to see if you can do it. And it doesn't always work, or it doesn't always work the way you think it will.

I agree almost entirely with what was written in that article. Magick is limetless in that it is the very essence of our existence, it is the blood coursing through the Universe and as metaphorical as that sounds what it stands for is raw truth. I think when it comes to the attitude that is common among Wiccan and Pagan communities, that Magick is not a 'pill' that works things out for us at our every whim, is because there needs to be a degree of ethical respect between oneself and the force of Magick, which is never embodied, but is immediate and palpable. That relationship is sacred and fostered in earnest by the Witch and that's what defines our Craft.
As practitioners of Witchcraft, Will, Desire and Intent are the greatest fuels our Spells and Rituals can have. Once sharpened they are the catalysts of co-creation and our tools of articulation. Working with Magick is an involved effort that requires a sense of devotion, almost sacrifice, in that the individual should be willing to spend a period of time focusing on the task, going through each step and memorising chants etc, working through energy exercises and meditation in order to prepare the Self and then finally getting into it and making things happen. At least that's how I've come to know it.

i found myself agreeing with everything that site said. I've always been, how can i say it, kinda timid with magick, mainly because i never thought of it being so limitless. I've been coming round to this idea of limitlessness for a while now, though i wouldn't practice magick just to practice magick. There's no point to that. As such, i haven't found many times in my life where i've really badly needed to use magick, three times in almost 5 years. I think i practice all my magick in my stories through my characters, though whether any of that magick would be feasible in the real world i don't know. I like magick, i just lack the need to use it. I'd never call myself experienced, but i do believe it is the will behind it that is the real power. You will something enough and it'll happen.
bright blessings,
