add to the flavor of the food if you eat it the way it was intended to be eaten. Depending on the culture. I am a HUGE fan of SUSHI!!!!!!
I voted yes in restaurants because I am too lazy to make special meals at home for myself. But if I were serving something that needed chopsticks at home then I would use them.

Wheee, fun poll! I use them when I go out to restaurants, but I didn't actually own any myself until about a month ago. :)
Now, enough distraction for you! Thesis time!! :) LOL!

Why go to all the work to cook Chinese food at home and not have fun? I use the chopsticks whenever we have Chinese food, except maybe if the rice isn't starchy enough. . .
other than appetizers, which seem like they demand to be enjoyed by being finger food. . .
and, um, the soup, I'm convinced the Chinese soup spoons are better for any kind of soup

I use chopsticks both places.
I don't use them with suishi as a friend of mine who is asian corrected me when she saw me eating suishi with chopsticks and said to eat it with my fingers instead. For everything else asian I use chopsticks. Except the soup which I sip from the bowl and then eat the seaweed and stuff left with chopsticks.

use chopsticks for sushi. Especially the rolls. But in one's home with family then fingers are more common with sushi. Most of the Japanese immigrants who work where I go use the chopsticks when eating from a common plate, but from your own then it depends on custom of house.

Definitely chopsticks!
I don't cook Asian food at home so we don't have chopsticks. But oddly enough I was thinking of getting some and changing that. I do have a little tea pot and Chinese tea cups that my hubby got me last weekend. Mmmmmmmmmmm jasmine tea! Great with Asian food!

Chopsticks on sushi is a no no.
As for me....I use chopsticks better than I use a knife and fork. I don't leave home without a pair. I have plastic ones in my purse, and a pair of plastic ones for home. Both sets come with a spoon and sit in a small box. It was sent to me from Japan from a good friend.
There is quite a bit of etiquette on chopsticks too. Like, you can't pass food from one person to another with your chopsticks. You can spear your food with the chopsticks and eat it that way. You definately can't leave your chopsticks sticking straight up on your plate (ESPECIALLY NOT WITH RICE). Oy....I'll think up some more later.
One thing you can do is make slurping sounds when eating noodles and other pasta. It shows appreciation for the food. "Sluuuuuurrrrp!"

SAHM......(sigh) I love green tea. I'm down to my last bag too. lol It's the cool authentic kind...had it shipped....but I am sadly enough, running out fast.
It's good for relaxation and reflection.
I've been told that you can't pour your own glass though. Not proper. You pour someone else a glass, then they pour you a glass. It's a nice exchange.

Yes I use chopsticks all the time, but only really when I'm eating oriental food.
I was totally bored one night and decided to eat some ice cream...but we didn't have any clean spoons, so I ate it with chopsticks. About half way through my bowl I was like, "What the hell am I doing??"

You're supposed to eat sushi with your fingers? Must remember that for next girls' night at Shogun's...How about tempura? Is that stick or finger food?
I haven't had Asian food in *so* long....Mmm, kung pao shrimp, fried wontons, tuna sashimi, crabsticks, tempura, green-tea ice cream...
*smacks self to stop the torment*

I use them both at home and at a restaurant. I am an extremely fast eater, I know that's not good but what are you gonna do, and because I eat fast I usually eat more than I should. Chopsticks force me to slow my pace. The result of this is that it takes me longer to eat, I taste more of the food itself, and I don't eat as much which is an added bonus. Of course I only use them when eating Asian fare because there are many foods that chopsticks would only complicate the process. Hoping all are well....

I use Chopsticks! I even have a collection of them. ^^;
My favorite pair being my adorable set of Japanese children's Hello Kitty chopsticks. (Complete with matching hashi-case)
(Hashi = chopsticks in japanese) I gave my fiancee a set of hand painted chopsticks as a birthday gift last year too. (Hand painted Dragon & Pheonix). I love chopsticks, there is so much diversity for eating utensils, they can be seen as an art form unto themselves.
I also collect Maneki Nekos too, but thats another story. ;)
I love Japanese & Asian art. (Maneki neko are good luck cat figurines, different postures and colors represent different things *like luck, wealth, dispelling bad luck etc*)

Yeah, I use chopsticks. I didn't use to, but after spending an entire summer over at my friend's house, his parents are from Japan, I go used to it. :) Besides it's a great trick to be able to show off to friends that can't use them!!!:p

I do at restaurants and when I order takeout. I'll use them at home occasionally when I make Asian food. My dad taught me when I was a kid so I've been using them for a long time.

Many times, I can't stand Asian food without chopsticks. Always seems like something is missing. I use them at least as well as a fork.

I want to learn how to use them. The first time I tried to was at least four or five years ago, and I failed miserably. XD
It's not so easy to find them around here... not even the Chinese restaurants have them. O_o
