2/3s of this country's migraines (in ref. to the US) are caused from caffiene. Either too much, too little (withdrawl), etc

The leading over-the-counter remedies all contain caffiene (such as, Excedrine).

they never go into exactly WHY it makes the headaches go away, but it's easy to explain. Most people will get a headache from caffiene withdrawl. Taking more caffine will alleviate that headache.

Have you also noticed that many caffine free versions of popular soda's have been discontinued? People are ADDICTED!

Now, i love caffine, but i hate my headaches, and I haven't had NEARLY as much pain as i did when i drank coffee/soda every day.

But even chocolate has caffine...

So.. just figured i'd enlighten ya'll to this little "conspiracy" i've watched for a while... and see if anyone else has, like me, gotten caught up in the coffee - headache - excedrine cycle

as a side note, my husband explained to me (with his 182 IQ, heh), something about caffiene having a chemical effect on your brain that causes you to no longer emit the "sleepy" chemicals that are secreted when you are tired, so you are therefore, "stimulated" and kept "awake". I know it increases heart rate and all that, but apparently it's more than that. It doesn't make you more awake, it just makes you unaware that you are indeed, very tired, fooling your body into staying in awake mode. So in the long run, you need more and more to maintain that 'awake' state during the day.

I have started to implement more healthy fruity/vitamin drinks into my diet and fortunately I could never stomach coffee, but soda..watch out...on a bad day I'd beat someone for a Pepsi!! It is a serious addictions and I get crazy headaches when I try to wean myself off it. I think you're right, it is a conspiracy to keep us addicted.

I know EXACTLY what you mean. I too, am an addict.

That is why Exedrine works so well for me...it's got the aspirin that helps with the pain, and it puts caffeine in my body. In fact, this week my headache has been worse because I have absolutely no caffinated drinks in my house...and I am sad :)

I remember last school year I found out that my school sold cream soda, and I LOVE cream soda, so that is all that I would drink for about a week, and I couldn't figure out why I was getting headaches everyday. I had been going through withdrawal, and I thought, "oh gees, I really AM an addict"
