Ok I am not a newbie and I have read some Crowley and Duquette and I thought I got the gist of what Kaballah is. I guess I thought of it as a 'practice' rather than a religion-though I know it originates and it still a big part of Jewish misticism but being a 'practice' it has been incorporated by other mystical practitioners of many different religions.
Perhaps I have it wrong?
What makes me confused is, being guilty of feasting on celebrity gossip, I have been reading of how Kaballah is becoming the IT religion(confusion) of the stars and something about red wrist bands(what's that for) and Kaballah water(again, what's that) and pilgrimmages to the holy land.
If anyone could shed some light on this I would appreciate it.

the red wrist bands are part of not just KAbbalah but also Judaism in general.. its believed to give you protection.. Kaballah water - I've only heard of the big Kabbalah Center in Los Angeles & NY do that  being a HUGE Madonna fan, I'll admit I was a bit surprised when she started getting hardcore EVEN into the water thing.. I'm not familiar with it, in my studies of Kabbalah... and pilgrimages to the Holy Land - well, seeing as Kabbalah is tied strongly with Judaism, as you said, it only makes sense that those who practice it would want to hop by here (PS - i live in Israel), to see the Holy Sites. Again, much like Madonna is doing - Tomorrow, actually - and is staying at a hotel which is 10 mins away from my house - WOOWOO!!!

But, yes Kabballah is NOT a religion, its a Practice/Way of Life.

I think that actors have a great void in their lives, as they give up much of 'living' to become the proverbial stars in the sky of the high-life. They can't just walk down their city's street and enjoy it, or go out to eat at a local restaurant and enjoy it. They basically become names and faces.
I think that religions and lifestyles are a way to give them something to fill that void. To give them feeling, if you will, and meaning and purpose.

I also think that there's a lot of peer pressure among them, so anything one person is doing is going to be done by many in order to not get left out of the rain.

Rabbi Fund gives qaballa classes in NY and in LA, I try to go to them when I can, he has them on Monday nights in the village in ny.

He is a great guy to talk to and when he teaches, it is like a discussion....... really neat.
