other than mentions in the mabinogion and the Triads, there isnt much info on her other than wat is invented more recently.

id recommend reading what you can from more 'original' sources and then begin building a relationship based on and exchange between both of you rather than what someone else thinks.

Wow, that's 3 of us now at MW who are into Branwen! :spinner:

Sadly, there is not much information about Branwen at all, except what the previous poster mentioned. There are a couple of websites I've found with info on her, though:

Good luck in your search!

Branwyn is a small player in myth and legend, and sadly that leads to very little information. I have an affinity for the goddess as well, her name is simply the most beautiful I have ever seen.

These are about goddesses in general, except the last two. I agree with the others, start with more historical stuff first, like the Mabinogion, and then move on to the contemporary. This list runs the gamet from fun & fluffy new age to acedemic and everything in between. No particular order.....

The White Goddess by Robert Graves
Ancient Mirrors of Womanhood by Merlin Stone
The Goddess: Mythological Images of the Feminine by Christine Downing
Awakening your Goddess by Liz Simpson
The Language of the Goddess by Marija Gimbutas
Goddesses in Everywoman by Jean Shinoda Bolen
The Goddess Path by Patricia Monaghan
The Goddesses' Mirrorr by David Kinsley
The Witches' Goddess by Janet and Stewar Farrar
Goddess: Myths of the Female Divine by David Leeming
Maiden, Mother, Crone by DJ Conway
Invoke the Goddess by Kala Trobe
Releasing the Goddess within by Gail Carr Feldman
A Goddess is a girl's best friend by Laurie Sue Brockway
365 Goddess by Patricia Telesco
A Woman's Companion to Mythology ed. by Carolyne Larrington
The Devi Gita trans. from Sanskrit by C. Makenzie Brown
Inanna: Queen of Heaven and Earth trans. by Diane Wolkstein
Inanna: Lady of the Largest Heart trans. by Betty De Shong Meador

Read with an open mind....but think for yourself.

Loopaleigh listed some really good books. :)

A book that I really like which focuses on goddesses is Shahrukh Husain's The Goddess: Power, Sexuality, and the Feminine Divine. The author brings up some really interesting points about goddesses in various cultures. It's quite thought provoking. Sorry, there's only a tad on Branwen though.

Those are some wonderful books you've listed! Unfortunately, there is very little (if any) information to be found on them, but the archetypes and the myths are very important knowledge for anyone on this path!

Thank you!

I just remembered a couple of books that touch briefly on Branwen:

The Silver Wheel by Marguerite Elsbeth - Llewellyn, but now out of print (can be found on Amazon)

and

The Witch in Every Woman by Laurie Cabot.

Again, mostly myth, but some commentary from the authors as well.

Well so far i've only managed to read one of the books that you guys suggested. I've been so busy latly that i haven't had time to breathe!.

I got hold of Awakening your Goddess by Liz Simpson and I think its just fab! The pictures included in the book are really beautiful. Although the sections on each goddess were only small, I found the book to be very interesting!.

I believe there's a short retelling of the myth of Branwen and then about three sentences on her (Welsh Love Goddess type stuff). Conway is pretty good about adding Branwen to her lists of Goddesses, but still not much information.
