im full of questions today.
is there such a thing as a correspondence of the primary (and/or transpersonal and earth) chakras with astrology, or the houses? with the rays? also, is there a correspondence between houses or other astrological aspects and color? i have been feeling an intuitive bridge there lately, but i'm still working it out. any info would be great.
hope this note finds you well!

:nicetie:It's a good question! I'm interested in the Kabbalah, and many people make connections between the chakras and the sephiroth of the Kabbalah - and because each sephira relates to a planet, there should be a correspondence, although rather a loose one, since it's not one to one - there are seven "levels" on the Tree of Life, and a particular level may have two sephiroth:
Root chakra - Malkuth - Earth
Sexual chakra - Yesod - Moon
Solar Plexus chakra - Hod and Netzach - Mercury and Venus
Heart chakra - Tiphareth - Sun
Throat chakra - Geburah and Chesed - Mars and Jupiter
Third eye chakra - Chockmah and Binah - well, Binah is Saturn; no agreed correspondence for Chockmah
Crown chakra - Kether - no agreed planetary correspondence
A more logical correspondence could be the seven chakras to the seven tradition planets, although I can't help feeling that the root chakra would have to be Earth, which isn't one of the traditional planets (the planets are bodies beyond Earth).

I have them like this...
Crown - Moon
Third Eye - Mercury
Throat - Venus
Heart - Sun
Solar Plexus - Mars (ironically enough  )
Sexual - Jupiter
Root - Saturn
Obviously opinions vary! I don't really work with chakras yet though; the above list was from an astrology book I particularly liked, but I'm not sure what the author's reasoning was for all of them. :)

Ah, that does make sense! The order Moon, Mercury... Saturn is the "Chaldean" order - fastest moving body is the Moon, slowest is Saturn, so it's in order from Crown to Root. And Root as Saturn does sort of make sense.
OTOH... some musicians a few years back did some interesting music based on the chakras. They started with the idea that the Heart chakra resonated at about 60 beats a minute, or one per second (makes sense, as heart rate in a good meditative state is around this value). The solar plexus was then 2Hz (2 per second), the sexual at 4Hz, Root at 8Hz. The throat was one beat per two seconds (0.5Hz), third eye one beat per four seconds (0.25Hz) and crown one per eight seconds (0.125Hz). The music they wrote really did seem to trigger those particular chakras - so the root chakra was activiated by very rapid beat music, which doesn't sound Saturnian!

Just as a quick little correction here: the Chaldean order is just the opposite, it goes from Saturn down to the Moon. Now, I'm not too familiar with chakras, but Saturn represents grounding, which I thought fits nicely with the root chakra, Jupiter is growth (babies), Mars is action (solar plexus), Sun is the life force (heart), Venus rules the throat naturally in astrology, Mercury is the communicator going back and forth between the different worlds and also naturally rules divination (third eye), and that leaves the Moon for the crown, but I'm not sure what the crown chakra does, so I don't know how the Moon fits there.

I have these references for the Chakras, as you can see there are quite a number of differences in the references.
Root-Saturn, Mars
Sacral-Moon, Venus, Mercury
Solar Plexus-Sun, Mars, Jupiter
Heart-Venus, Saturn
Throat-Mercury, Uranus, Mars
Third Eye-Uranus, Jupiter
Crown-Jupiter, Moon, Sun
I have listed these with the first planet being my choice for the following reasons. I added the archetypes because I dreamed about this and that was what I was doing in the dream. _witchball spooky eh!
Root-Saturn-Archetype Earth Mother-Solidification, rules form and organization
Sacral-Moon-Archetype Emperess/Emperor-Reproduction
Solar Plexus-Sun or Mar-Archetype Spiritual Warrior-This is about individual and self-esteem and self-awareness, sun venues
Heart-Venus-Archetype Lover-The heart is about love, Venus venue
Throat-Mercury-Archetype The Communicator-Communication, all communication
Third Eye-Uranus-Archetype Pschic-insight, clairvoyance, intuition, connects to the part of creation beyond science
Crown-Jupiter-Archetype Guru-The meaning of life
