I don't play, but I love hockey - it's 'in my blood'. In fact, my first word as a baby was "hockey"! No kidding! I'm an eternal Red Wings fan. Who's your all-time favorite NHL player? I'd have to say mine is Gordie Howe. ;)

Perhaps this thread should be moved to "Just Talk"?

I play! Well, used to... it's been a couple of years. I was a goalie for many years, but switched to winger when it started to hurt the ol' knees too much.

I don't play, but I am in awe of goalies. If I'm not watching my favorite team (Rangers) I choose who to root for by their goalie. Who are your favorites?

Oh, and I don't like hockey, the colors are really boring and annoying.... (Yes, I'm weird)

Wait a minute.... how are the colors in hockey any different from colors in other sports? "Boring"? Have you seen the Phoenix Coyotes? They look like Martha Stewart designed their uniforms, there are so many "nontraditional sports colors" in them. Same for the Ducks... sheesh, purple and teal? What the heck were they thinking? ;)

I'm a big Penguins fan. As far as favorite goalies go, Marty Brodeur is the guy I'd want to build my team around. He's a little older, and maybe he's lost a step or two, but he doesn't fold under pressure and he knows how to win big games. Gimmie the old grizzled veteran over the young hotshot any day. ;)

I was a follower of Grant Fuhr, Kelly Hrudey, and Patrick Roy when I was younger.

I agree... those guys were great. As for current goalies... Brodeur is fantastic, and Richter was awesome in his day (ok technically not "current"). I like Hasek a lot, but he's on his way out too. I have had my eye on Khabibulin for a while so it was a real treat to see him in the playoffs, and Kipper was fun to watch too. Ok, I'll stop talking about goalies now...

Naaah, when you watch soccer, it's green cuz of the lawn, but hockey is all white/gray-ish because of the ice and it just looks really weird and boring. :D Not talking about the uniforms!

I played a few pick up games, and once I get some pounds off, I'd like to play again. I was usually a forward, mostly a center.

I got an assist my very first game. Also got a nasty bruise on my bicep from slamming into the boards.

My very first favorite player was Chris Chelios. I am in awe that he plays as hard as he does at age 43. I also like Mike Modano (who might have come back from the nightmare last season had there BEEN a season this year... :hrmm: ).
