This thread made me think alot: http://www.mysticwicks.com/showthread.php?t=13247&page=1&pp=10&highlight=moon+school
The idea of a pagan school is probably a long way off for those of us who would send our kids there. And some of us would not send them for many various reasons. One point that was made is that it is a PARENT'S job to teach spirituality to our kids.
Here's the point of this thread: Where do we get all of the information to teach them about all of these topics? And how do we put it into forms that they can understand?
I know about tarot, I know about runes, I know about oracle decks and numerology. I think I'm a passing fair teacher when it comes to divination. But I know almost nothing about astrology, herbs, plants & forests, etc. And I'm not a history/mythology buff yet either (although I'd love to know more myths and belief systems).
How can I make information that I barely have any knowledge about myself, available to my kids? How can I teach them about something if I know nothing about it myself?
My proposal is that people in this community that DO posses knowledge about a particular area, can create a course for the kids that can give them the basics of that particular area. It doesn't have to be a year's worth of course work, it only has to be enough so that the kids can get a basic introduction to that subject. If they show alot of interest in it, then a parent can choose to pursue that area further and learn more about it with the child.
Maybe it can be sort of like the "Circle of Teaching" things that are going on. Does anyone else dig this idea? :hmmmmm:
