"Someone approached my this morning and gave me a piece of paper that reads the following:
"Nam myoho renge kyo"
He said that if I say this repeatedly for a few minutes everyday, I will gain complete awareness.
Has anyone ever heard of this.
Curious,

Can't say that I have Rant. But I live up in the hills, so it could just be me.

That is their " chant" here you go check it out :>
Chanting the phrase Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is the
fundamental component of the practice of Buddhism.
This phrase expresses the ultimate truth of life and the universe. This truth operates within our own lives and therefore, Nam-myoho-renge-kyo allows each individual to tap his or her innate enlightened nature directly. Thus, one
who chants is able to gain power and wisdom to live with confidence, overcome any problem, and develop a happy future. Although the deepest meaning of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is only revealed through the practice of chanting it, there is a literal definition for each of the component words:
NAM means devotion
MYOHO mystic law
RENGE the law of cause and effect
KYO sutra, teaching of the Buddha

I got a Hare Krishna book. "Chant and be happy" is the name of it. But I haven't read more than the intro which explained why they are always singing Hare Kirshna.
Its the same deal. Hare Krishna is basically thier name for God so chanting his name over and over will bring you closer to God. Or something like that. :D
Maybe you'd like to borrow it Rant or go find HK and they'll give you one for free. :D

I am not bashing, but I find HK's pushy and smarmy.
I have no problems with Buddhist monks, we often have
discussions.....very enjoyable.

I remember getting attacked by HK's in the airports when I was young. I was too stoned in the '70's to really have cared. Furthermore, this guy had a full head of hare (or is that "hair") and spoted a business suit. Not the HK that I would have expected.
I just hope this doesn't mean I have to hand out leaflet's at train stations now. Sheesh!

in my circles "putting a red dot" on someone's forehead can get you shot at.
