this came up on a thread that was closed, but since it really isnt part of the original discussion and came up sort of inadvertantly, i figure it will be ok. someone said overpopulation is the number one threat in our world today. i beg to differ. from what i understand, your children will not be competeing for resources, they will be trying to pay their taxes ;) our kids will be paying for the enormous expenses of the baby boomers as they age and require more medical care and long term care. in fact, the more the merrier at this point - we need workers and consumers to keep our countries afloat for the next 50 some odd years till they all die off.
even worldwide, from what i understand, overpopulation isnt the hot issue it was a decade ago. AIDS is so rampant in africa, one of the major contributors to the problem of overpopulation, africans have an average life span of 33 years. and thats just africa! china has 40 billion men who wont be able to find chinese wives. they are a generation smaller than previous ones, who as predominently males, will likely spawn another small generation too.
it seems the previously advertised population explosion was controlled the way it usually is - by nature.
