 I read an ad in the local paper offering a free Tarot course and a potential full-time job if you pass. Ever curious I called and they explained that it was in fact free, and that they are a 1-900 psychic line and if I passed the course, I'd be offered a position. Hmmm, is this a scam do you think? If not, what is thier angle, that is to say is this for real?? :D
Thoughts anyone???

I have heard of people making money on those lines, however the stories I have heard regarding the authenticity desturbs me. On a tarot list I was on one of the members contacted one of these organizations for info and they told her that it would be best if she used a deck that is unusual so as to reduce the chance of someone calling her on the meanings. They didn't even want to test her knowledge of the cards. They are in it for the money point blank and I feel that it adds to the negative image of Tarot. that is of course my opinion. I am sure there are some very honest and talented readers working for them, just not as many as there should be.

You know, I've always been half tempted to call up one of those lines and see how full of it they really were. But, I'm just not rich enough to afford the $5 a minute thing, just to experiment.

I have some experience in reading Tarot, but haven't felt confident reading for others as yet. My understanding is that it is usual for the reader to have the client shuffle the deck prior to a reading. If this is so, I wonder how they do it over a phone line. I know I couldn't read my crystal ball for someone who hasn't touched it as it need their energy imprinted on it to function effectively. Is it the same with cards??? :)

Hey, why don't you just take the free class and see what it's all about? If you do pass, and they offer you a job, you can always turn it down! 8O I would do it, just to see what I could learn! And if I could earn some money on the side!! Bonus!

You know, I would love to, but it would be impossible without leaving my present full-time job which I depend on. The problem is that the course times simply will not work as they both overlap in the middle of my current shift, (3-11). I would like to see what they're up to, and will contact them in the spring if my situation changes. After all, who doesn't want to make big bucks!! I know I should be brave and simply quit my present dead end job on faith knowing I'll earn millions as a famous 1-900 psychic, but there are still bills to be paid ;) Hee, hee

Well, in the least, if you could take the class, which I know you can't right now. We'd all know that there would be at least one Real reader. And maybe it would start a trend. Getting the right kind of people in places like that could change things from the inside. What do you think?

Ya know, this is one of those cases where the fact that both words FREE and SCAM have four letters is not a coincidence.
I read TAROT for people. But I am one of those type that STRONGLY believe that TAROT readings should be done in person, not over the phone. I am sure that these folks enjoy a larger market share, but the key word here is MARKET.
How long is this course? Some sort of shake 'n' bake tarot thing, and does the little girl help? (telling my age here) Does it have a flavor? Do they teach you to have a fake accent while reading the cards to the "mark" and the skills to keep them on the phone to sell other products and make more money?
I apologize if I sound so cynical, but this is one of my pet peeves; it is not because I am jealous of another person's ability to make money, but I am bothered ny the blatant marketeering of something that is mostly used by people who cannot afford it and wind up with horrible telephone bills and debts.
I'll climb down from my soap box now.

P.S. This was just a mild rant on the subject. You should see me IRL when I make fun of that woman with the "Jamaican" accent; I also do Televangelists.

Sorry about the pun, but it was just too easy, Hee, hee.
I agree with you both, it would be nice to let folks know there are those out there with true skills, and not out there for a buck. I read crystal ball, and need the client to handle the ball and imprint it with their energy to enable me to read for them. I don't see how I could do this over the phone Hee,hee. As for Tarot, I take the same approach, letting the other person shuffle and even select their own cards which I then interpret. I would love to find a way to clean up all of the fakers and scam artists, but the question is how do you do it??I guess you just do your own thing knowing your own skills are genuine and that you are making a difference. :)
And Bluecat, I hear you. I would love to take the course (20 hours) just to learn their angle and find out what they're up to, I highly doubt that it's a sincere desire to help people, Hee,hee. ;)
