View Full Version : Stopping Violence in the Middle East Magically?

Once again, more hostage killings in Iraq. It's such a horrible situation - all the deaths on each side. It's making me soul sick.

But it did get me thinking... what can witches do about it? Obviously, if you're American, vote. If not, encourage your own government to speak out (or continue). Is there anything we can do magically to boost our mundane efforts? Has anyone been using a spell for peace and feel like sharing?

Or maybe we can organize a specific night for all the MWers to light a candle for peace?

Sorry if there's a thread already about this. I got so worked up I forgot to search.

I always wondered about that too....

I am very inexperienced when it comes to magick, but I'm guessing that it's such a big issue, that it's incredibly difficult to sort it out. I think that the people there all need to learn on their own to try and make peace with each other.

I'm only 17, but I'm old enough to know that many countries have gone through periods of time, where there were indefinite amounts of hostility, however, it is up to everyone to try and find a common solution, and try to ease the situation.

I don't know what else to say....:S

Periods of war and violence? *sighs* this has been going on for a little over 2000 years, if not longer. That section of the world is renouned for its violence, wich is odd as its gods are those or peace and prosperity.
The only way to stop that war would be for 1) one of the major religions to die out... not likely. 2) A majority of them would have to stand up and declare that they were done with the cycle of Veangence... about as likely as option 1.
As for magic doing it... It would take a huge amount of power to do so, perhaps more than most dieties can conjure, to do it by main force of compulsion. Nasty way to do it anyways. Convert them all to one religion? just as unethical... even if you did it through maricals.

it's a nice theory, but chaos is just as necessary as order. *shrug* we should leave it alone i think.

Yes I agree with the last two posts , its in our nature and nothings going to stop it and we probably shouldn't try , if nature created us to have so much hate and intolerance there must be a good reason for making us that way . I should also add thats its taken evolution millions of years to get as far as we are now and I think a change like total world peace isn't going to happen over night .

well, as bad as it sounds.. because i realize innocent people are getting killed every day... sometimes these things are necessary. every few years there is always something to 'weed out' the population. that's not supposed to sound so mean... but, it's like.. not even 8am yet, and i just couldn't think of a gentle way of putting it.

I understand that there's always been violence and that it would be impossible to stamp it out. Nor am I suggesting that everyone will get converted to one religion and hold hands and chase butterflies. That's just plain unrealistic.

It's just very frustrating to sit here across the world and watch it unfold, without being able to really DO anything to help. We send energy and prayers to people on the Energy Requests Forum. Can't we send healing energy to a country or a whole group of people? That doesn't involve compulsion. Probably just a drop in a leaky bucket, yes, but what's the harm in trying?

alot of magic is intent and there are just too many people intent on killing. I do wish the whole matter well and I do hope eventually we will get past this most stupid of all Human qualities.

Dang it we don't have time to fight ourselves an alien invasion is coming...

Please do me a favor -

DO NOT compare the Iraq situation to Israel.

Thanks.

My apologies if I offended you, Morr.

It wasn't really my intent to compare them. I went ahead and edited the original post accordingly.

Yeah, it's frustrating to see these things happen without being able to do anything about it. But no matter how much energy you send, it's NOT going to stop. The wheel of fate keeps turning, and nothing can stop it save the will of the universe. It's horrible, but you can't save them.

If I had a son or daughter being taken hostage, I would still send energy. If not, I would only hope for the best for those hostages.

The best thing to do is focus on your own path right now and leave the situation alone. Focus on your own growth and wisdom.

i wasnt offended, just wanting to make a correction.
Israel is not in a state of Chaos like Iraq. There are no constant bombings or shootings down the street. Its just like any other Western Country, except in Hebrew and more Jewish Oriented. And we have an issue with the Palastinians. Its really more similar to the IRA/England issue, then Iraq.

It could be done, yes... if the people doing it REALLY believed in magic. Most folks don't, even the ones that claim they do.

A lot of witches/occultists gathered together during the second world war in Britain to magically fend off Hitler's supposed invasion plans. Dion Fortune and Gerald Gardner were two famous figures that spring to mind. Fortune's biographer (and student), Gareth Knight, has written a book about it, but unfortunately it's not in print anymore. I ordered it on Amazon, and they don't have it stock.

Practitioners have grouped together before now to encourage peace, and a lot of other things, but it doesn't always get documented.

Every part of the world has it's native mystical beings (in the Northern Way these beings are referred to generically as 'land wights'). Just as constant human habitation in the Middle East is very ancient, so are the land wights there (I'm no kind of expert here, but djinns come to mind... and I believe that they're sorta near the bottom of the "Middle Eastern magical-being food chain", so to speak). It would seem that these beings need/demand heavy blood sacrifice. Having poked into this subject a bit, & crossed paths with one or two of these creatures while 'out there', I strongly recommend against anything but the most passive actions, such as the lighting of candles & sending of positive energies.

But that's just my two cents... you can send me you're two cents via cash, money order, or PayPal... (hey, how long didja think I could be serious? _travolta_ )

This is a bad situation.
we are dealing with man playing god on each side.
both sides assume god not only is on their side but needs their help to rid the world of evil.
it's arrogance on both side.

I understand war is needed for the purpose of change..
but i'm human and it does touch me emotionally..
the thought that somebody has to beg for his life and nobody comes really bothers me.

so I light a candle for each person I hear about.
If it's not in the gods/goddesses will to give this person life..
then at least bless them that it's quick maybe put them in some state of mind that makes it easier for them.
